Description from owner

Description

A perfect location just five miles from the relative bustle of Aviemore, on the edge of a small boutique holiday park with the best views from the park. Post Covid, we continue to maintain the same high standards of cleanliness and hygiene to make your stay as safe and healthy as possible.

Situated on a quiet boutique holiday park in the peaceful village of Boat of Garten, this chalet is on the edge of the park with great views overlooking heather moor and hills. It is ideal for families or adult groups of four to explore the surroundings and to relax and enjoy the views over an open and beautiful landscape. The chalet is modern and bright, warm and inviting and has all the facilities for a comfortable stay. It includes; a modern kitchen area with microwave, gas double oven and 5 ring hob, fridge and freezer. The kitchen area adjoins an open dining and lounge area with dining table and chairs, 2 single armchairs and a sofa, a gas fire place and 42" satellite connected TV with a DVD player. A selection of DVDs is available for your use. The lounge opens out to a large decked area that has a picnic table and a barbecue stand. Off the central corridor is a shower room with thermostatically regulated shower, wash basin and toilet. One twin and one double bedroom. The latter with an adjoining toilet and wash hand basin. The chalet is centrally heated throughout. All bed linen is provided. There is plentiful storage throughout and parking for a car and maintained grass play area. A laundry and children's play area is nearby on the site. A well-stocked shop is at the park entrance, just 2 minutes from the chalet. Rental costs includes all gas and electricity.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area for the highly adventurous or for having a thoroughly laid back relaxing time in the peace and quiet of the park setting. There is plenty to absorb you, whether for families, couples or singles. In Boat of Garten itself there is the Strathspey Steam railway station where you can head off to Aviemore or Broomhill, the highland hospitality of the Boat Hotel, fine dining at Andersons restaurant, and locally available golf and tennis, and a pump track for budding stunt bikers. Off-road cycle routes head off in many directions including to Aviemore, Carrbridge, Nethy Bridge, Grantown and further beyond.

Further afield is the Landmark Adventure park at Carrbridge, Loch Garten nature reserve where you can view the ospreys in season, the beautiful old Caledonian pinewoods of Rothiemurchus, and gateway to the Cairngorms via Glenmore Forest Park. The tourist information in Aviemore has details of all these and many more for ways to fill your time here.

And when the day is done, come back to the peace and quiet of No 57 to kick back and relax, and ponder why we call our place "Ketchup".

The easiest and most convenient way to reach the park is by car. There is a good bus service to/from Aviemore which is the main nearby rail and bus travel hub for onwards travel. Immediately from the village is an extensive network of easily cycle-able off road tracks that will take you as far as you want to go including to Aviemore and other nearby destinations like Loch Garten. A hybrid or mountain bike is desirable for these tracks.

“Good location”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2022

Nice location if you want to be surrounded by nature and not to far from the city services. We didn't know the area and we enjoyed it a lot.

Response from the owner Thank you for your feedback. We're really pleased to hear that you had a good stay and enjoyed the beautiful nature of the surrounding countryside.

“Basic accommodation in a beautiful area”

Reviewed 3 Jul 2022

For those wanting a base with basic accommodation this is probably ok but nothing more. Fusty smell throughout, some blinds broken, a few lights not working, stained mattress, no Wi-Fi or bread knife etc. Nothing major, but irritating. Plenty of hot water, amazing views and easy access to a beautiful part of Scotland

Response from the owner Dear ??? Thank you for your review, and I am sorry that your experience didn't match up to your expectations. If any problems arise during a stay (lights not working etc) that is something I will always address if notified. I am sorry that you had these issues. We don't advertise that WiFi is available as one or two other caravans do. Publicly available WiFi can be found nearby along with a subscription service operated by the site owners Thank you again for your comments that I take seriously and I hope others will have a better experience, as they should expect. Kind regards Paul

A really nice, well kept and modern van in a great setting. Very good communication from the owner and everything was made simple. I would definitely go back there again.

“Hols with grandchildren”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2021

Had a great time. The weather was terrific so it was disappointing we couldn’t eat on the decking as there was no table and chairs, just a bench and a couple of fold up chairs., but everything else was good.

Response from the owner Thank you for your kind review and I'm glad to hear you had a good stay. Although I'm really sorry that the table and chairs for the decking area were not available to you. Sadly, the glass topped table had been broken a short while earlier and I'd not had the chance to replace it. I shall attend to that. Kind regards Paul

Response from the owner Thank you for your kind review and glad to hear that you had a good holiday. I do apologise for you having to clear up broken glass. I had not realised that the glass table top had been smashed, otherwise I'd have properly dealt with that. Thank you for pointing out your dissatisfaction with that and I hope that otherwise everything else was ok. Kind regards Paul

“AVOID”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2019

Having read the good reviews we were looking forward to staying at this accommodation. On arrival the place was freezing and the heating was not on like we were advised it would be. The whole place had a musty smell and was far from clean. The cooker was dirty, there were cobwebs on every light fitting, curtain pole and corners of every room. We decided to stay the night anyway and decide what to do in the morning, the beds were so uncomfortable non of us hardly slept. In my sons bed there were springs poking though and there was a mark which looked like paint on the sheet. By morning we decided we were leaving, this was before we found mould in one of the children’s cups, utterly disgusting. We then packed up and left cutting short our stay. We have tried to contact the owner several times and he is ignoring us, utter rudeness. Do not stay here the place is a disgrace and should not be let out to anyone.

Response from the owner I'd missed this review that was posted last year. On the basis of what the guests reported I compensated them for the full amount paid for not experiencing the high standards and enjoyable stays that others have had as they have reported. It's the very first time in 4 years of making our caravan available to guests that anyone has expressed such dissatisfaction. We operate on the basis of trust and respect and are very sorry for not meeting the requirements of this guest.

Reviewed 17 Oct 2019

A lovely well looked after accommodation. Very easy to find within a lovely holiday park. Spotless with some added touches such as the DVDs and tea/coffee as well as a nice view out the back. Very central location for Aviemore, Landmark Forrest Adventure and the Highland Wildlife Reserve which we visited on the way. Both parents and kids had a great time ,would definitely recommend to others :)
