“Quiet, peaceful getaway” My family (including 2 kids under age 3) got away for a few days and had a wonderful stay. The owners had prepared a nice bonfire in the outdoor firepit and called to confirm we had arrived safely that evening. Cabin was clean, the kitchen was very updated (coffee pot with filters/toaster oven/convection oven) and plenty of pots/pans for those choosing to stay in and cook. Plenty of water pressure. Very rustic furniture and a pleasant wood burning stove to keep off the evening chill. We'd suggest it would be perfect for a romantic weekend, a small family with perhaps with another close couple or grandparents that could use the downstairs single bedroom/full bath. One bedroom had plenty of kid games and toys which were a nice surprise. Evenings under the stars were incredibly relaxing in the 4 person hot tub off the back deck - literally watching shooting stars and having a hard time making out the normal constellations since there were so many stars it was hard to distinguish any patterns you may know from home. The bugs, as you may expect, were somewhat annoying during the cooler evening hours but a nice bonfire kept them easily at bay. It is probably worth noting the cabin is really remote - maybe a mile to the next cabin and 6-8 miles to the next town (i.e., a collection of houses but no stores). On our first day, we heard more flocks of geese flying over than cars on the road. Cell phone reception is not available for at least 3-4 miles up the road but there is a cabin land line and internet available. Check out the nearby graveyards (there is a local guide in the cabin) which date back to late 1700s. There are some nice very low impact, family oriented hikes nearby (just GPS glens run road = a well maintained dirt road winding its way along a stream) about 2 miles down the road and palmers pond a bit further away. We made a day trip to Lake George area for lunch as well which was a nice diversion. The nearest town, North Creek, has a deli, a grocer, bakery, and a few shops all worth a visit. On Thursdays, in the afternoons, a small farmers market sells local fair (Weavertown Market close to Gore Mountain entrance has incredibly good homemade lemon/blueberry scones).

“Surrounded by Nature with the comforts of home.” With a peaceful, private lake just a footpath away from this completely updated unit, you can't go wrong! Despite all the modern touches the unit holds, it has such a cozy "cabin" feel to it. It was great having all the amenities for our active boys just a walk away as well as beautiful Lake George so close by! Our family has rented several times and upon each return we notice another convenience or update added to the unit. A perfect day for us includes, eating breakfast on the covered patio, followed by a hiking adventure at the many places nearby,(our kids will squeeze in some tennis or basketball too) then down the path to the lake to catch some sun, some swimming, kayaking or boating then back to the condo for a grilled dinner and campfire! Then off to the comfortable beds for a good nights sleep so we could spend the next day at beautiful Lake George! It's such a treat to enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer and to come back to such a comfortable, cozy, and well loved condo!

“Best family vacation spot ever!” Our week at Vista View was the best vacation that our family has had in many years. The home is very comfortable, well appointed and perfectly situated in proximity to Lake George, and to the town of Bolton Landing. Cheryl and Buzz gave great attention to detail in everything from the décor of the home to the comfort of the beds. Abundant towels and kitchen appliances made the week feel like "home". Buzz and Cheryl were very hospitable hosts as well. They offered great tips on what to see around the lake. Our grand children loved the sheltered and private beach area, including the very clear water. We have wonderful memories of our stay at "Vista View", and intend to make it our family's lodging spot on Lake George as often as we can.

About Adirondack

In the forested heart of upstate New York lies the seemingly endless stretch of tranquil lakes, mountain trails, and wildflower meadows known as the Adirondacks. For generations, families and individuals looking to escape from the bustle of Atlantic coast metropolitan areas have come here to disappear into this landscape of breathtaking natural beauty. The best way to experience a vacation in the Adirondacks is with a stay in a vacation rental, like a peaceful cabin beside a lake.

Vacation rentals are often less expensive than hotels in the Adirondacks, and a secluded cabin offers far better access to the hiking trails, waterfalls, and lakes in the area. Spend your days hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing in the hills or bird watching along the edges of the grassy meadows. After the sun goes down, head into town to experience regional cuisine or to hear live music at a local venue. With a vacation rental, you also have the option of retreating to your home away from home and hosting a barbeque for your family and friends.

Here are a few additional suggestions for your trip:

  • Go fishing: Fishing in the Adirondacks is a memorable experience. Take a boat out onto the lake or wade up the local rivers and waterways for beautiful rainbow and brown trout.
  • Go horseback riding: Many of the well-maintained horseback riding stables in the Adirondacks area offer guided trail rides.
  • Go bird watching and wildlife spotting: The Adirondacks are a wonderful place to see elusive native species like ospreys, owls, foxes, and black bears.
  • Rent a boat: Rent a canoe or kayak and launch it from your rental's private dock at sunrise or paddle up the river and go exploring. Avalanche Lake and the Oswegatchie River are popular boating destinations.
  • Hike the trails: Hike the trails of Mt. Mercy, or follow the historic Underground Railroad Trail, where Harriet Tubman and others once led fleeing slaves to freedom.
  • Go camping: Pack a tent and spend a night on a mountain under the stars. The best Adirondacks camping areas are often located near scenic meadows and overlooks.

The Adirondacks are beautiful during all four seasons. In the winter, the trails are blanketed in pristine snow, perfect for cross country skiing and snowshoeing and in the summer the same hills bloom with wildflowers. You'll never forget your first visit to the Adirondacks, and the right vacation rental can help you get the most out of your trip.

I had a great time at Sacandaga Lake with my friends. The house was very comfortable and clean and we had everything we needed. We took to canoe out and the views of the lake and mountains were incredible. We also had campfires in the evening and played volleyball. Will definetely return next year.see more
