Huttlinger House

Lake Placid house

6 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 13

“Great location. Wonderful plce for a family gathering.” Our family of 11 stayed through the New Year's holiday. What a wonderful place. There was plenty of room and the house is so big that there were little nooks to get away from the crowd if someone wanted quiet reading time. The location is perfect, just 1/2 block from the Main Street in Lake Placid. We walked down to the bottom of the hill to go on a dogsled ride and cross country ski on the lake. The home is 5 minutes from the Olympic Center and 15 from Whiteface Mountain. There is so much to do in Lake Placid. We ran out of time before running out of things to do. Grocery stores were conveniently located and on one of the frigid evenings we picked up the most wonderful Italian meals from a take out place just down the street. This location had it all!

“This house is awesome” "This house is awesome" is the way my twelve year old granddaughter who is at 'that age' described the Ninja Log Home. The house was clean, roomy, well appointed and the prefect size for our extended family of six. It was also convenient to town and all attractions. We would definitely stay there again.

“great time, great hosts” We only stayed for 3 nights at this wonderful chalet for our ski trip with my 16 year old son and boyfriend. The cottage was in a great location, was very clean and cozy. We didn't see our hosts Mike and Mini, but through our conversations they were really very pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the stay tremendously and will recommend to friends and hopefully will visit again in near future.

Camp Little Pine

Lake Placid house

5 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 12

“Incredible Adirondack Camp experience” Camp Little Pine was a wonderful experience. We regularly visit Lake Placid during each season and was extremely pleased with this house. Incredibly well located, close to groceries, wine store and little restaurants. It's right next to Lake Placid Lodge, the Relais Chateaus hotel, which is perfect for fine dining or casual drinks at the pub. We were a group of 8 and the house was spacious and fitted us all. Michael & his wife have decorated this house beautifully in Adirondack style, making it a wonderful "Great Camp" experience. The amenities were all modern and functioning, the kitchen is wonderful and stocked with tons of condiments making it very easy cook. I highly recommend this beautiful house for a group and would stay there any other time.

The Cottage

Lake Placid cottage

“A cozy family vacation!” Our family recently spent 6 days in the Spruce Lodge Cottage. We had an excellent stay. The lodge is charming! It has beautiful, original hardwood floors. We are a family of 4 and we had plant of space for all. The kitchen and dining areas are spacious, and fully stocked with what you need to cook. I made Christmas dinner: turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy-- and had every thing I needed. There is a full-sized fridge as well. No dishwasher, but the sink is large. The living room has a sofa and a love seat as well as an old wooden rocker, a coffee table, 2 end tables and a small flat-screen tv. We especially liked the wood-burning fireplace. Upstairs there are two bedrooms-- the master bedroom has a queen sized bed with night stands and lamps on either side, a dresser and a large walk in closet. The second bedroom has a queen-sized bed and bunks-- plus a dresser. The bathroom is also upstairs-- all white, with a sink, tub and toilet. I most appreciated that the cottage was very clean! The bathroom is all white and it sparkled when we arrived. The hardwood floors were shiny and clean. When we crawled into bed, the sheets smelled fresh-- like I had just washed them myself. The cottage is centrally located just a short drive to all of the sites-- the bobsled experience (it is fantastic!), the ski jump, Whiteface Resort, the Olympic museum, ice rinks, and the shops downtown. The pictures on the site do not do the cottage justice. I have added a few, as Carol has made some changes to the cottage. I can recommend the cottage-- it is a very comfortable place to stay. It is not luxurious, but it is clean and comfortable. My family loved it. Carol was very nice and patient-- I even had to call her on Christmas eve because I locked the key inside the cottage and she helped me to get another one.

Charming Village Home on Hillcrest

Lake Placid house

5 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 12

“Warm, Convenient, and Welcoming” This was our first time staying on Hillcrest (we've stayed elsewhere in Lake Placid before); I can definitely imagine staying here again. The house is conveniently located close to town - just a quick walk down the hill - and easily accommodated the twelve of us - three couples and six children ages 3-8. We were in town over Presidents Weekend to do a little skiing; turned out we picked a frigid few days, but the house was warm, even without lighting the woodburning stove. We lit it each night anyway, for the ambiance and the smell of a fire. The beds were comfortable, the house was clean and well-provisioned in terms of cooking and serving dinners for a big crowd, and we all had a great time despite the sub-zero temps. Maybe next time I should book in the summer.

About Lake Placid

Lake Placid is best known as the site of the 1980 Winter Olympics, but the outdoor attractions including hiking, golf, and skiing, as well as the natural scenery have kept visitors coming back long after the Games ended. In recent years, the town has also become known as a premier spa destination. While you are here, try some of the delicious local seafood at the restaurants along Shore Drive, or visit Main Street for the quaint boutiques that offer a wonderful shopping experience.

Be sure to also make time for some of these outdoor activities that make Lake Placid an immensely popular getaway destination:

  • Northville-Placid Trail: Admire breathtaking views of the region from this footpath.
  • Adirondack Museum: Works of art from some of the most talented and well-known artists in the region can be found on display here.
  • Go Shooting: Test your aim with authentic biathlete rifles at the Olympic shooting complex.

Don't let the small size of Lake Placid deceive you. There are a number of major events and festivals held year-round here, making every season of the year a great time to visit. Enjoy the ten-day Saranac Lake winter carnival in December, watch some of the world's best athletes in events including skiing and snowboarding at the World Cup Events in January, or observe elaborate parades and fireworks displays during the Fourth of July celebrations.

Get the most out of your time in Lake Placid by staying in a vacation rental. Whether you're looking for a condo just steps from the lake, or a rustic cabin in one of the more isolated parts of town, there's a property available that will meet all of your needs.

Many people spend their vacation exclusively in Lake Placid, while others use the town as a base to explore the rest of the region. In less than thirty minutes by car, you can explore Whiteface Mountain in the town of Wilmington, or the amazing climbing options that Keane Valley has to offer.

Cozy Lake Placid Apartment rental
Perfect Ironman Lake Placid Apartment

The location is about 0.25 miles off of the Ironman run course on River Road, which is nice and quiet from the lake/downtown area. It is spacious for two guests with all of the amenities that you could possibly need. While we did enjoy eating out from time to time, we also cooked at the apartment. We have already been in contact with Sven to possibly stay in this apartment again for Ironman Lake Placid in 2019!see more
