“Great Vacation Rental” The listing and pictures were accurate. The property was clean and in good condition. The owner was very helpful when she oriented us and later when we had questions. I'd recommend this property to any large group. The apartment connected to the house was convenient for additional guests who visited us the first weekend and was rented separtely. I'd highly recommend the market in Lourmarin as well as the restaurant/Bistro near Lourmarin, La Cour de Ferme. We had a very nice 4 course meal (only one "Menu" available for 35 Euros). The map in the information book at the house was incorrect. It is actually just minutes before you arrive in Lourmarin when you are coming from the house.

Ambiance D'Aix - Elegant 2 Bedroom Apartment with WiFi, Aix en Provence

Aix-en-Provence apartment

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Stylish and comfortable” We loved our stay at ambiance D'Aix. The apartment was quiet, yet just a block or so away from shops, markets, and restaurants and cafes. A perfect location in the old city. Furniture was elegant and very comfortable. Kitchen was fully equipped. The apartment had a washing machine and drying rack which we used with ease. Wifi was very good here. We had a car and were just a few blocks away from the parking garage the owners suggested. Convenient location for driving out to nearby cities. We would return to this apartment again.

“Fantastic stay, yet again !!” Returned to Provence in Sept this year,in our opinion Chateau de la Loubiere is the place to stay. Such a warm welcome from Deb and alec and it provides a perfect base for exploring Provence. The weather was stunning, we visited many places including the Gorges du Verdon, Cassis, Isle sur la Sorgue. A week was just not long enough but we will certainly be back again next year. Highly recommended

About Aix-en-Provence

Aix-en-Provence, France

With its lavender fields, cobbled streets and historic buildings, it’s easy to see why Aix-en-Provence has become one of the South of France’s most popular destinations. After all, it’s renowned for its shops, café culture and art scene, and Cézanne lived and worked here!

With hundreds of rentals in Aix-en-Provence to choose from on FlipKey, you could relax poolside at your very own 18th-century villa, or enjoy being in the heart of the old town in a cosy, romantic apartment for two.

About Aix-en-Provence

The town’s student population gives it a lively feel, yet Aix retains its rich history, with 17th and 18th century palaces, cathedrals and fountains around every corner.

Walking remains the best way to explore everything Aix-en-Provence has to offer, but there’s a reliable bus service, too, if you want to explore further, and renting a bicycle is a great move.

Though the official language here is French, you’ll find most people speak a good level of English, although making the effort to order in French will always earn you an appreciative smile.

What to do

Aix-en-Provence is packed with art and culture and was once home to Paul Cézanne. Why not visit Atelier Cezanne, his last studio, or check out his work at the Musée Granet? One of France’s must-see museums, it’s home to works by Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh and Cézanne, housed in a stunning 17th-century priory.

Also worth visiting is the Caumont Centre d’Art, which holds three exhibitions a year in the Hotel Particulier, once owned by the Marquise de Caumont.

No trip to Aix-en-Provence is complete without doing as the locals do, and enjoying an espresso or pastis (aniseed liqueur) at a pavement café, watching the world go by. Pop into Farinoman Fou bakery, where you can pick up some delicious artisanal bread – just be prepared to queue!

Foodies should make time to sample Calissons, a local specialty of candied fruits and ground almonds, topped with icing.

Top Aix-en-Provence travel tips

Aix old town is part-pedestrianized, so renting an electric bike from the shop opposite the station is a great way to get around. Ask nicely and they'll even provide you with a mapped itinerary!

The best time to visit is the spring (March-May) when the days are long and sunny, and the streets are less crowded with Parisian visitors than during the summer months. Come in June if you want to see Aix’s famous lavender fields.

Or visit in July to see the Opera Festival, one of the largest in Europe, held at the grand Archbishop’s Palace.

Whether you want to spend your trip shopping, dining out or soaking up the local history, you’ll find Aix-en-Provence has something for everyone, and you’ll be sure to discover the perfect property on FlipKey!

Holiday rental Villas Les Milles - Aix en Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône), 300 m², 4 800 €
Elegant comfort in a very beautiful and fun setting

Our entire extended family agree that this was a lifetime memory for each of us. The stocked pond gave our 8 yr old grandson his first fishing experience. Our 2 yr old granddaughter learned how to swim in the expansive pool. The beach entry made it effortless for all to enter and splash around. So many different places to have our meals, which we prepared with great fun exploring the delightful and well appointed kitchen. Numerous bedroom choices allowed all to spread out and enjoy privacy. Restful sleep made easy by thick walls assuring a quiet night. Enhanced security in this gated property was impressive. Above all, we made new memories as we established a nightly pre-dinner tradition of assorted exotic cheeses and sliced crusty baguette. All this under the expansive Wisteria canopied veranda just outside the kitchen with its clever ice making machine cranking out endless cubes for our various cold drinks. Our reception and home tour was graciously conducted by the charming owner. We all had a fantastic time. I only wish I could have just one more late evening solitude float on the inflatable raft in that gorgeous pool. An elegant estate done up just right!see more
3 Bedroom Villa Aix En Provence Holiday Rental with a Pool
Aix en Provence Gem

I celebrated my 40th birthday with three friends at this property in July 2011 and our stay was lovely. Mr. & Mrs. Hernandez (the owners) met us on time to check in and show us around. Their English is very limited, though they are fluent in French and Spanish. The pictures don't do the house or the property justice. It's huge, bursting with character, located in a very quiet neighborhood yet very close to town. The bedrooms are all a nice size, each with different amenities (terrace, slanted beamed ceilings) that make them special. The views are lovely, the terrace off the kitchen is a great place to enjoy a meal, the pool is large and the outdoor kitchen and bathroom were great to have. We had initially planned to do all sorts of day-trips but in the end were so content at the house that we did little more than go to the markets for food and wine and come back to the house. We were very comfortable here and I can imagine a group or a family would really enjoy it too. My only complaint is that the bed linens and towels should have been better. You know how we all have the mis-matched towells, the tacky ones you picked up at Disneyland, the ugly floral sheets your grandmother gave you and you shoved in the back of your linen closet -- that's what they give you. They are very clean, but they are not the crisp white hotel sheets and towells you would maybe expect. Also, the kitchen, while super cozy and equipped with just about everything you would need to cook (which we did a lot of) had the leftover feel as well, as if they took the good wine opener and left us with the really difficult to use one. And they did not leave a single condiment (butter, mustard, salt, olive oil, we had to buy everything). But to us, those were really small things in the big picture. I'm a jaded Manhattan gal and I would stay there again and recommend it.see more
Ambiance D'Aix - Elegant 2 Bedroom Apartment with WiFi, Aix en Provence
A sanctuary in aix

We came to France for six weeks staying in apartments in five destinations to experience the way of life, the ambience and the history. After staying in very cosy apartments in our previous two destinations this apartment was a luxury of space. Located on the first floor and furnished in period style, it contains a separate kitchen, lounge / dining, main bed and a spare, and a mezzanine bathroom. Large windows open out from the main bed and lounge to the enclosed courtyard below. High vaulted ceilings add to the sense of space. The apartment is located next to the Place des Martyrs de la Resistance and is only a short walk to everything we required. Restaurants, bistro, markets, boulangerie, shops and internet cafe. The Office de Tourism is by the central fountain and surrounded by Plane tree'd avenues. Down the main avenue we found the supermarket. The flower markets are delightful. A short walk from the fountain is the Gare Routiere where we took a bus to Marseilles and Cassis by the mediterranean, Aubagne and La Treille where Marcel Pagnol lived and was inspired to write Manon Des Sources and visited Moustiers Ste Marie in the Castellane valley. Aix is an interesting and easy place to visit on foot, the apartment a quiet comfortable sanctuary after a long day exploring the town and the surrounding area. We stayed a week and were sad to leave"see more
Mas Bel Azur, Charm of Provence
Excellent holiday

We (10 adults and 8 children, aged between 0 and 6) really spent a great time @ Mas Bel Azur. The house offered everything we needed: a fully equiped kitchen, clean bedrooms and bathrooms/showers, BBQ, swimming pool with alarm and extra fence. The kids had a lot of space to play in the spacious garden and on the trampoline. There are tables and chairs on every side of the house, so you can always sit in the sun. Nights can sometimes be cold and windy (Mistral) but the "beachhouse" offers a perfect and warm alternative to sit at night. The lovely city of Aix-en-Provence is worth visiting!see more

Charming Ten Bedroom Country Property with Pool and Tennis close to Aix
Sunshine, good wine and a home away from home.

The difficulty with having your dream vacation is that when it is over your dream is too. Deb and alec are great hosts and offer a lovely space for travelers to live ala Provencal. We spent 10 days at their rural chateau, which I expected to be daunting when I first found the place. In reality, being out of the hustle and bustle meant that we could relax in this amazing space, surrounded by farm and mountains and were minutes away from Pertuis, with easy access to aix and all the other communities in the Valcluse we wanted to visit without having to deal with traffic, large volumes of people and general city life. The building, Sebastians House, was large and spacious with all the amenities we needed. Deb made sure there was lots of tourist materials and her own very helpful guide to the area, along with an amazing restaurant recommendation which required reservations... which she was more than willing to help with. The chateau is stunning and the atmosphere is very welcoming. I would highly recommend La Loubiere. We would go back in a heartbeat. One note, make sure you give yourself lots of time to explore but equal amounts of time to sit by the pool and sip pastis, it is a wonderful thing to do!see more
