“Villa Clara -- Pictures can't capture the magic” My family and I (husband, kids ages 19, 16 and 11) had the good fortune to stay at Villa Clara this June. Wow. From the breathtaking view (kitchen to outdoor dining to Mediterranian), to the picture perfect pool, this is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The house is perfect, the property is in town, which we like. An easy walk to the town center where you can buy fresh bread, pastries, pizza, fruits and vegetables and meat from the butcher. Also, there are three great restaurants for dinner -- so hard to decide because the kitchen at the Villa is amazing and there is also an outdoor pizza oven. The location of the house is also great if you want to take day trips to the Cote d'Azur or Italy. The only downside is that the pool, surrounded by mountains, is hard to leave! This is a truly amazing place. Also, the house manager, Benoit is a treat. He and his wife Corrinne own a bed and breakfast in town. We took a cooking class one morning from them and it was a highlight. Pictures do not do this property justice -- it is too beautiful to property capture.

“Flayosc is a lively village in Var, in the centre of Provence, s” Flayosc is a quaint and lively village, inland 40 mins from Ste Maxime (road being upgraded), and a centre for wine growing and processing for the Cote de Provence varieties. These are mainly a pale and gentle rose, whites or very acceptable reds, all available inexpensively at the CoOp of the 3 Collines. With 3 Boulangeries and Patisseries is a small village, we didn't go hungry. Local markets are in the square directly in front of the Maison Mimosa on Mondays, and there are 2 small supermarkets. The restaurants are very good quality, and a range of prices, and it seems people come from all around for them as they are so busy for such a small village. The 2 bedroom apartment has loads of character and with 3 levels, give space for two couples to relax. The kitchen is tiny, and a problem if you are over 6 foot, but fine for cooking. Bathroom is large but no shower as yet, with separate toilet. Beds are not hotel standard, but adequate. CDs were much appreciated - there is no TV, so take your own music etc. The noise from the square below could be a problem in mid summer with windows open, but the atmosphere of being right in the centre of the village is wonderful. We stayed a month,in September, and used it as a base for travelling by car around Provence, to Menton, Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Monaco, one way, to Aix on Provence, Arles, Marseilles and Avignon the other; to the beach at Ste Maxime or from there to Ste Tropez (by ferry); to Les Arcs and Tourtour nearby, to the Gorges of Verdon (brilliant) and Moustiers Ste Marie, all easy day trips. Some lovely walks around the countryside of Flayosc. Locals are friendly and accepting. Very little English spoken. An ideal central spot in rural France without pretentions and with authentic non touristy feel.
