“Comfortable, homely and ideally situated.” We travelled to The Goatshed from Sale in Cheshire on a very cold, wet and wintry Monday morning in October! There was fog, sleet and driving rain as we drove up the M62 and I was wondering what on earth had possessed me to book a week away in Yorkshire in October! However, as we arrived at the cottage in the farm grounds - the sun was shining and the sky had turned to a beautiful clear blue with not a cloud in sight! The owner - Mrs Peberdy - came to meet us with the cottage keys and gave us a very friendly welcome. She asked us to let her know if we needed anything and told us she would be available to help at any time. The cottage has been lovingly renovated. It was very spacious and comfortable and well equipped.Central heating radiators timed to come on early morning and evening meant we were always warm and cosy! The weather was kind to us all week and we were able to take advantage of the Goatshed's fabulous location every day! It was ideally located for us - just a 10 minute drive into Whitby or 15 minutes or so to Robin Hood's Bay - both really great places with lots of exploring and things to see. Sandsend - just a little outside Whitby was charming - the cottages by the river are picture postcard material! Scarborough, Filey, and Bridlington were all easily accessible and worth visiting as was Goatland - the home of Itv's 'Heartbeat'! Staithes (lovely old fishing harbour) was very interesting - our dog Ben spent hours running and swimming in the sea there! We really loved exploring the old Whitby town and hiking up all the steps to the abbey - the views made the effort worthwhile! Our stay at the Goatshed was excellent-we could not have wished for anything better.I would certainly recommend it and will be looking to go again next year!

“Very Enjoyable” We enjoyed our stay and the location coupled with the rental price was very good.It was clean and well appointed and very comfortable.the only problem we could find was this is still a work in progress home.Tiles in the kitchen needed to be fixed the small room to the rear had a damp smell as did the toilet off the kitchen which if the door was left shut overnight was quite strong. But apart from that no problem.i would like to stay there again next year and will book if available.

“Perfect retreat for couples” Excellent welcome on arrival, very spacious & clean. Both cottage & surrounding area absolutely first class. Will defiantly recommend to friends & family. Really good heating system & plenty of hot water. The thing we liked best was the lovely bathroom facilities. The thing we liked least was the TV was too small for the room although it worked well & had plenty of channels.

Why Robin Hoods Bay?

This small fishing village in the North York Moors is filled to bursting with folklore and history, which are portrayed in fascinating ways throughout the village for a thoroughly entertaining experience. Be sure to book your next vacation rental in Robin Hood's Bay for an unforgettable trip that everyone will love.

About Robin Hood's Bay

According to local legend, Robin Hood visited the bay only to encounter French pirates pillaging the area. He forced them to surrender and returned the loot to the villagers, who in their gratitude renamed the bay in his honor. Whilst we don't know for sure if this really happened, it makes for an exciting tale, and you can explore many tales like this around the village.

It's also part of the Dinosaur Coast, so you can enjoy the beaches and search for remnants of these creatures' pasts!

What to Do

Or if you'd like a broader look at the North Yorkshire coastline, the Old Coastguard Station has some fantastic exhibits, and lots of hands on activities.

ABBEY VIEW COTTAGE, pet-friendly, with a garden in Robin Hood's Bay, Ref 1067
Brilliant location, wonderful cottage

The cottage was small but it didn't feel like that. We had two adults in the bedroom and two children on the sofa bad. The bedroom was big enough to keep four people's stuff. The rest of the cottage was great too. Lovely location with plenty to do. Every day we were out for full days of fun. … see more

Heather Croft offered the total package for the perfect holiday.

The owner popped in to welcome us and made sure we had everything we needed. There are lovely views over the rooftops and bay from the downstairs windows and the decking and garden provide the ideal place to relax and take in the views. The cottage is very comfortable and we couldn't have wished for more. We have already booked again for this coming year.see more

Loved every minute

We stayed for a week in august, at The Goatshed, and really enjoyed our holiday, as did our Portuguese Water Dog artchie. The accommodation was ideal for anyone with a dog, with all you could possibly need. A lovely walk into Robin Hood's Bay, but beware it's uphill on the way back. We would definitely stay here again, on our next visit to the Whitby area. The owners are very approachable, and live on the farm adjacent.see more

Great Place

The house is a bit odd in that you approach it from the back - however - it is a lovely place once you are in it. Plenty of space and things for children too. 15 mins to Whitby, 5 mins down to the sea, 20 mins onto the moors. A great place and really lovely owners; a pleasure to deal with. The only issue is the door is a bit hard the first time you use it - but its okay once you get used to it. (Not good if you have a disability as there are lots of stairs and are a little steep.)see more
