“What a brilliant find!” Never been to St Ives (SI),but the landscape/beach looked fabulous. When friends (they booked Sam's up stairs) suggested we join them - we did. We arrived early to find Neal+Clare repairing a window and cleaning for our arrival - and although we were very early-just finding our way around, they were very friendly and helplful and let us leave our bags to park. We were ob-snacked by the views but the house itself was gorgeous! Clean, spacious, stylish and accented with Neal's quirky wooden furniture. There's nice little outside area with a chairs /table, and upstairs flat (where friendswere) had a lovely stepped garden - more amazing views. Si is a great place to stay-esp for a family (we had 3 kids 10-12 yrs) lots to do/see around + short drives away. (Go to Minack Theatre, Porthcurno. Views breathe-taking + outside theatre amazing) Lots of places to eat-quite spoilt for fish restaurants + diff eateries of various £££. Go 2 Porthmeor beach for bodybording and beach-restaur (modern tappas)- worth expense as easy to just chill with a cider, watch the kids on the beach. Another great find was Hardcore Prawn -middle of the lanes in SI. Amazing seafood /steak - great staff and quite reasonable. Also trendy/funcky bar downstairs. So great week away. Draw backs? Hardly worth it - but parking hard(its a very popular resort) and although we bought a week's parking via the council car park, you were lucky if there were any spaces unless after 6:30pm. Oh + little thing (in flat), if you're short then don't expect to see much of yourself in the mirrors - as they are all mounted quite high. Still you dont have to look at myslef for long - when you have so much to go and investigate... So - no complaints, just smiles and we've booked for next year already!

“Fabulous week” What a fabulous place to stay, right in the heart of the harbour area of st ives, could hear the sea with the windows open! The accomodation was of a very high standard, very clean, nice and spacious and very homely. We stayed for a week in February, we were very lucky with the weather! Would definitely stay here again and highly recomend, although I have been told st ives in the summer is very busy.

About St. Ives

St Ives, Cornwall is a seaside town in the far west of the county, north of Penzance and west of Camborne on the coast of the Celtic Sea. Originally a fishing village, today the main draws are the four golden-sand beaches that are located throughout the area. Perfect for surfing, windsurfing, and waterskiing the sheltered coves and pleasant waters are teeming with tourists during the hot summers. The town itself is a collection of gift shops, cafes, and picturesque vacation cottages -- all surrounding the harbor. A maze of narrow streets and alleyways are located around the harbor, and the crescent shaped beaches. During the spring and summer months the streets of St Ives are decorated with brightly colored flower displays. Complete with stunning vistas at every turn, artists flock to St. Ives to capture its beauty in painting, poetry, and song.

Things to do in St. Ives

The beaches are the main attraction of St. Ives - Portmeor, Porthgwidden, Porthminster, and Harbor Beaches all have distinct characteristics that make them unique, as well as make them each some of the most popular in the Cornwall region. Porthmeor Beach is the main beach in St Ives. It is a level sandy beach that is ideal for families and a favorite of surfers. Porthgwidden is a small but popular beach, with a very good cafe.

Off the beach, explore the Chapel of St. Nicholas, a small structure used for worship for hundreds of years - and a great place for bird watching. Stroll through the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden for a gorgeous display of local flora. Explore ‘downlong' aka Old St. Ives and uncover the wonders of the area throughout the maze of cobblestone streets.

Embrace the artistic history of the town and take an art class or visit one of the dozens of galleries open for business - the Tate Gallery being one of the most popular. Take a ride on the scenic railway to see gorgeous views of St. Ives.

Andy's Place holiday apartment St Ives
Lovely apartment - brilliant view

We stayed in Sam's Place which is upstairs (fairly steep steps) from andy's Place for two wonderful weeks. Because we were a little way up the hill we had amazing views into St Ives Bay and St Ives Harbour - a comfy chair and a set of binoculars is provided and forget TV - we spent hours watching the comings and goings of the boats in the harbour - it is an excellent plan B if the weather spoils your plans. The flat is great - spacious sitting room with gas flame fire - v cosy on a couple of cool nights we had. Two great bedrooms - beds very comfortable and plenty of storage and open hanging space. We are a family of 4 with one teenage and one nearly teenage daughter. Plenty of space for all - the girls loved their bedroom which opened out to the garden accessed by steps - garden on a couple of level and is small but handy especially for washing line. Nice kitchen well equipped and has dining table for four although can fit five. No dishwasher but no room for that and didn't bother us. Bathroom modern. Had family member stay and used sleeping platform in sitting room - said it was very comfortable - so for a time 5 stayed in flat and still plenty of room. Billy the cat a welcome visitor from upstairs when encouraged - if don't like cats she won't intrude. Centre of St Ives only a few minutes walk down some steep steps - lovely village. Hosts very friendly and answered queries by email straight away - would highly recommend.see more
Holiday Cottage in Heart of Old St Ives, Sleeps 5
Great spot & lovely accommodation

We had a great time in St Ives and the owners communication was excellent. There is no parking spot, but you can pay £35 for a week of parking just up the street. It's about 3-5 minutes to walk to the quaint shopping area & the water, cafes etc. We had a toddler with us, and it was no problem having her at the cottage (as long as we kept an eye on her, considering all the stairs).see more

Wonderful Apartment next to Beautiful Porthminster Beach

We have many wonderful memories, coming to St Ives at least twice a year, always staying at a hotel. This was our first experience of staying in an apartment and we found it to be a home from home. The apartment has a super new kitchen and a very comfortable lounge / dining area. There is a great shower as well. It is wonderful sitting at the dining table, looking out at the sea views. We would certainly recommend the apartment to anyone who wants a great place to stay. It is right next to the beautiful Porthminster beach and in easy walking distance of the lovely St Ives town. Thank you very much Jill and Martin. We hope we will be able to stay at your apartment again next year.see more

Fantastic apartment, stunning views, great location.

We stayed here for one week - myself, husband, twin daughters and dog. The accommodation was perfect and very well equipped. Everything that we needed was there and all of good quality. It was a lovely surprise to have a delicious welcome pack waiting for us after a long journey. Thank you Mark. The space inside and views from all of the windows are amazing, really special. Everything is in walking distance and the apartment is very close to our favourite beach, Porthminster!. It was a real bonus being able to park outside the back gate. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back.see more
