Description

Clarendon Cottage is a few minutes walk from the beautiful sandy beaches of Broadstairs, and close to the town's pubs, restaurants and shops. Next to Broadstairs station, which is 80 minutes by rail from London's St Pancras Intl (via Ebbsfleet Intl., Ashford Intl., Canterbury West and Ramsgate). Off street parking. Formerly known as Crampton's Cottage, but we now brought back the original name Clarendon Cottage.

Clarendon Cottage is part of a terraced row built in the 1840s to house workers constructing the railway line that connects Broadstairs to Ramsgate and Margate. The line now links the beautiful Thanet coastline to London's St Pancras International Station and London Victoria Station.

The cottage is a minute's walk from Broadstairs railway station, and five minutes walk from the pubs, restaurants and lovely sandy beaches at the heart of the town.

While small, the cottage has two double bedrooms, a spacious modern fitted kitchen, and a cosy living room with a sofa-bed. In addition to the upstairs family bathroom there is an outside toilet in the backyard.

There is room to park a car in the front yard, and further parking is available at the side of the house.

The cottage's unique character is enhanced by a collection of the owner's original expressionist artwork.

You are renting the whole house including a small enclosed back yard that is very useful if you want to store bikes etc as there is a private side entrance. -- Having said that our neighbour, Maggie, has the right to use this entrance when she needs to.

The Neighbourhood

We are directly next to the train line. Our guests all agree that the trains are not noisy as they are slowing down for the station. There is a corner shop around the corner and so is the High Street. Everything is extremely close -including two pubs that can get busy at peak times. The neighbourhood is generally quiet (despite the trainline and pubs nearby).

Make sure you explore St. Peters as well, a beautiful village with good pubs like the Yard of Ale.

It is a charming cottage with cul-de-sac access to the footpath. It is a small and cosy place, but very bright and conveniently located.

Getting around

Broadstairs railway station is a minutes' walk with easy access to London St Pancras (80 mins), London Victoria (110 mins), Canterbury (20 mins) and Margate and Ramsgate just a few minutes. The latter two are also easily accessible with the frequent "Loop" bus. Or, since you are on holiday, you may decide to do the walk along the sea front! There are two taxi companies operating from offices in Broadstairs for short and long distances. Try Central Cars own the High Street (open 24 hours). Our nearest car rental is Enterprise in Westwood Cross shopping centre. There is room to park a car or van in the front yard, and further parking is available at the side of the house.

We are currently not living in Broadstairs, and so are unlikely to meet you in person, but you are welcome to email or text us with any queries (we're happy to help of course!). There is a key safe, so you can arrive at any time that suits you after 3PM.

“Open Golf visit”

We visited during the open Golf competition at Sandwich.The cottage was perfect as it is so close to the station and we could get to the course in about 30 minutes. The cottage is very handy for the local shops and restaurants and only a short walk into the main town and the beach.broadstairs is on the high speed line direct from St Pancras and took about 1 hour 20 from London. The cottage had everything we needed with a good kitchen for drinks and snacks.A living room with television settee and easy chairs.The bedrooms and bathroom were fine.You are very close to the railway line but that wasn't a problem. Broadstairs is a nice town and would definitely visit again. The process and arrangements for arrival were all clear and the owner and local housekeeper were very helpful. The cottage is fairly small but it suited our needs fine and couldn't have better served what we needed.It was also very reasonable
