Description from owner

Description

Glan Gwna is a holiday village on the edge of Snowdonia, near Caernarfon, comprising of a variety of accommodation styles in a landscaped 200 acre park. The park is tastefully laid out with a large fishing lake, woodland walks and the River Seiont meandering its way through the estate.

The Accommodation comprises a three bedroom terraced chalet (two storeys) known on the park as 'Welsh Cottages'. These are built as three blocks, six in each, of 'terraced cottages' each painted in pastel shades and having own small front lawn and parking space.

INSIDE THE PROPERTY

The accommodation continues to benefit from ongoing upgrades with central heating, new laminate flooring fitted downstairs and new rear doors fitted as well as a comprehensive make-over of most rooms with the kitchen re-fitted in 2024 - new photos to follow soon!

The lounge is currently furnished with twin sofas, nest of tables and a flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD.

The kitchen/diner has fitted units and provides full cooking facilities via a gas cooker and microwave together with the usual fridge, toaster, electric kettle etc.

There is space for inside dining although we tend to find that many users prefer outdoors dining or in the warmer weather with the outdoor table and chairs (available at rear and front of the property).

Bathroom/Toilet

The bathroom/toilet is situated downstairs and has a bath with mixer shower.

The Bedrooms

There is one bedroom with a double bed, one with twin beds and a third with a single bed.

We are now providing a full bed linen hire and bed making service for guests. This is included in the prices quoted on the website.

All bedrooms have either wardrobe or cupboard space.

Electric is provided via a meter (cards available on the park) with gas for heating and cooking included in the price.

OUTSIDE THE PROPERTY

There are parking spaces at the front of the property and we have some seating at the front of the property.

At the rear we have a decking area with seating. This area also has a range of plants planted in tubs to create a pleasant outdoor area for hirer's to use. There is also a fire basket available to use.

Park Amenities/Facilities

The park owners do provide 'free' wifi in the Poolside Bar.

The fishing lake is popular with anglers who also have the choice of river fishing on the park. The park owners also have another fishing lake nearby. We are advised that fish available include Carp, Tench, Roach, Rudd & Bream. NRA licences and site fishing permits are required - full details are available from the park owners upon request.

Free poolside bar entry is available to all hirer's during the main season from Mid March until the end of October. The bar/food area enjoys a family atmosphere with a separate adults only area with some entertainment provided most weekends in peak season. In quieter periods the bar may only be open Thursday-Sunday.

A heated outdoor swimming pool is open from Whit-week until early September. Always very popular with the kids - advice is to use before lunch if you want a quieter swim! Usually open from 10am to 7pm.

For the 2024 season we have extended the booking period until the end of December now that we have central heating available. However, please be aware that the bar closes at the end of October and the shop/cafe is restricted hours in the off-peak months.

The site also has a children's park, basic shop and cafe.

Dogs are welcome if well behaved and have their own pet bed. However we ask dog owners not to leave their pets unattended in the property for long periods! Dogs are not however allowed inside the Poolside Bar (there are some tables outside the bar near the pool where dog owners tend to sit in the finer weather!)

“Superb! 5*****”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2020

The photos don’t do the cottage justice. Absolutely gorgeous! It was spotlessly clean and comfortable for a family of 5 with two dogs. Master bedroom was spacious with 2 windows. All the furniture and decoration looked brand new. There is a decking out the back with seating. Such a perfect location, the site is fabulous with a huge salmon river running through. 2 miles from the town of Caernarfon and only 7 miles from a huge beach at Dinas Dinlle. The cafe on site was brilliant, lovely food and such friendly owners. I can’t recommend this cottage enough. We will definitely come back for another stay. (We weren’t able to use the swimming pool due to Covid but it looked such a great area right next to the children’s play area and the restaurant / club room). Honestly loved this place. Phil the owner answered my emails straight away. So impressed. Thank you so much.

Response from the owner Thanks for your comments and pleased that you enjoyed your visit. The park closes for guests at the end of October/early November and doesn't re-open until March so we have never found it worthwhile to install central heating but have heaters in every room which should prove adequate for all but exceptionally cold weather. If you are going into the town centre there is a bus stop (daytime service) outside the park entrance and in the evenings a taxi into town costs about £5 so you can leave the car on the park if going for a drink/meal in the town.

Response from the owner Really pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope you will return soon! The kitchen is 'compact' as you say and the only way we could re-model it would be to expand into the bathroom and take that upstairs - but that would lose a bedroom so the larger kitchen would not then be required! We usually only get 5 guests together in school holidays when the weather is better. So we decided to tackle the issue by creating an outside dining area at the rear. We also provide a nest of tables for those who prefer a 'TV' dinner or for when the weather outside is inclement. At the end of the day we are a holiday chalet (rather than a house) and we hope that our prices reflect this fact. In an ideal world we would add on a small conservatory at the rear to expand the kitchen, but the park owners will not allow these!
