Description

Enjoy a quality vacation at half the price of the villas near by. We are located on the East End of St Thomas near Villas renting for $500 to $1,000 per night. Live in an upscale neighborhood at bargain prices. Situated between the little town of Red Hook and the Ritz Carlton hotel we have a perfect location for an ideal vacation, We are close to excellent restaurants and shopping while at the same time, a short ride to several beautiful beaches.

THE STUDIO COTTAGE:

Located steps from our villa the Studio Cottage is a stand alone building with a great room 30 ft long by 15 feet wide with ceilings 15 ft high. It has a balcony that is for esthetic per pose only. The deck has the same measurements as the cottage giving the effect of an out door living room. There is a private Spa tub with an out door cold shower.( Of course there is a complete small bathroom with an indoor shower inside the cottage)

The studio cottage was designed and built by the owner,Joe. It is open concept design with a living room,bedroom and dining room area. Joe's wife, Billye, furnished it with the style and comfort that she expects when she travels.

There is a breakfast bar with a small refrigerator, a microwave, a Forman Grill, an electric skillet and a coffee maker, all the things you need to prepare a small meal or lunch.

The bedroom area has a queen size bed and an armoir that houses a 40 inch cable TV.There is a phone for local calls and free WiFI

The dining area seats 4. The living room area has a queen size sleeper sofa that can sleep two.

Response from the owner Dear Michael This is the first time in our history that we have received an "1 star" review . It is upsetting ,not only because of that fact, but because we take pride in pleasing every single guest ,as is evidenced by the propondance of our 5 star outstanding reviews. This situation is all the more unfortunate because there appears to have been a series of miscommunications which could have been repaired if we had talked more. We had no idea of the extent of your dissatisfaction until you announced that you were leaving. We were shocked and puzzled. Apparently there were a series of miscommunications: I will not attempt to debate line for line each of your negative opinions except to say that we provide a private gated residence for our guest that is made available to them upon their arrival. It is not open for the general public.We do not have a 24 hour staff available. That is why we urge guest to call us at any time if they have a problem. You have every right to expect to gain a smooth, inviting entry to Our Place, but only at the time you personally arrive. All inspections and decisions about the visit should be done via the internet ,prior to booking. If customer has questions about the description or the pictures provided to the site you have every right to contact the owner for clarification. Once you have made the decision andbooked the property, if you change your mind ,refunds are handled thru the protocols set up in the Booking Agreement. This agreement is a standard one provided by the VacationRentals company. Both the owner and the guest by continuing with the booking process accept the details of the Agreement. Check in is after 3 pm and ,as we are not a large public hotel ,when we are not at home,we ask guest to give us an estimate of their arrival time so that we can have some one there to greet them and give them keys. We were not made aware of the bizarre situation that you described upon your arrival . When we initially spoke I was under the impression that you were dissatisfied with what you perceived as a disrespectful tone used by the property manager . I susequently spoke with her about the fact that you felt she was rude to you . I explained to her that even though she might have not ment to sound rude ,the guests perception is the most important factor. I assure you that,Although Millie has only rave reviews and is well past middle age, we will definitely speak to her about creating a situation that our guest would perceive as so frightening or disturbing that they would want to leave. I have an extensive background in Criminal Justice myself. And as such am aware that ones perception of a problem can make the situation as real as if there were a problem. Please assure your wife and your cousin that Millie is a mild mannered ,God fearing lady that would not hurt a fly As per your perception of my thoughts and motivations during our conversations, I apologize if I did not make myself clear. My husband and I derive satisfaction in providing an excellent experience for our guest. We are an old fashion couple who take pride in our accomplishment and the job we do.Our reputation is very important to us and speaks for itself . As I did not have the complete list of you perceived problems mayo st of which could have been fixed by the next morning. Consequently I assumed that you wanted a larger Place so I did not pressure you or try to dissuade you in any way. I suggested that you look at our ground floor apt if you were interested in staying there. Apparently you did not want to look at it, or stay there. When you said you wanted to call the vacation Rental company I encouraged you to do so. We are sorry you were unable to get Wifi that evening . Thank goodness you advised you were able to get it the next morning. We will make sure that the codes are promently displayed. Unfortunately sometimes on an Island even putting in the proper codes for cable, wifi and phone the signals are not always available. Most of the time that situation is few and far between and as you know ,hubby Joe and I are up in age so we have to rely on others to straighten it out. As a matter of fact as do most tropical Islands on some rare occasions we even have a temporary disruption in electricity. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention to every extent possible we will make ever effort to improve them. Once again, we are so sorry that you did not enjoy yourself at Our Place but are happy that you ultimately did have a good time. St thomas is a beautiful island. Response from the owner It was a pleasure hosting Berni . The couple were wonderful guest who treated the cottage with the loving care . We loved introducing them to some of the places we love to visit such as Secret Harbour beach and restaurant. It is so close to us it's like our backyard. Of course Joe invited them to our favorite night spot, TAVERN on the WATERfRONT where occasionally he sits in with the Band. We hope Berni and Hubby join us again in the near future

Response from the owner I was shocked Upon reading this review stating that a guest at Our Place saw vermin tracks on the kitchen counters despite the fact that he thought the place seemed clean and exactly as it was described on line! As evidenced by all of our other reviews on Flipkey and other sites ,the apt has always been described as spotless. No other guest in the apt has ever mentioned such a problem. Indeed the guest in the apt after the above mentioned visit never mentioned this either. I cannot speculate as to what the person saw that would cause him to write such a review.However, I can say that he never reported it to me or to our property manager Millie during his stay. We Pride ourselves on ensuring that our property is in Tip Top condition and that our guest are satisfied with it. Nothing or no one is 100 percent perfect. All one can do is to give 100 percent effort to make whatever we do as good as possible upon reading the review my husband and I returned from the states to St Thomas to investigate the matter further and to take care of other property matters. We had attempted to contact our cleaning lady regarding it and other issues ,but she could not be reached. We subsequently have a new cleaning service and we personally supervised a through re cleaning of the apartment during which time I didn't see any evidence of any infestation of anything!
