Description

Gite du Lavande is on the borders of the Auvergne, Limousin and Centre Region, is ideally situated to explore an area full of history, charm and beauty.
Within half an hour's drive you can discover castles and chateaux, picturesque historical market towns and villages, swimming lakes with sandy beaches and cafés, woodland walks, and plenty of wonderful picnic sites.
Go a little further and you will get more of the same, in any direction.
However, there is no need to go very far. You could simply spend your holiday relaxing at "home" by the pool, sipping chilled local wine, reading your favourite books and cooking up a delicious BBQ in the evening. You'll go home feeling refreshed and happy whatever you choose to do.
Gite du Lavande has a private enclosed mature garden which also boasts an above ground swimming-pool , and views over the adjoining fields. the locality is ideal for walking, biking and swimming, or simply a place to relax within its tranquil rural surroundings. Chez Jabier also has the unique feature of having no street lights, making it ideal for star-gazers.

PRIVATE SWIMMING POOL - above ground approx 4.5m, ideal to cool off on a hot sumers day Beach towels can be provided. Inflatables provided.

PLAY GARDEN with playhouse, trampoline, sand pit and slide, outdoor games , badminton, boules etc. Enclosed and suitable to let dog off lead.

FLOWER AND VEGETABLE GARDENS with edible herbs and salad crops in season. There is a selection of herbs outside the gite for your use.

Hiking and cycling direct from the door.(Maps availabale in the gite for walks near or a short drive away)

BEACHES and SWIMMING LAKES Three marvellous local swimming lakes (with fishing as well) within 20 to 35 minutes drive.They all have lifeguards during the high season, at Sidiailles you can hire a canoe, rowing boat or pedalo, there is a small cafe on site.

GOLF Within 15 mins drive there is a superb international 18 hole course.

CYCLING is very popular here in France and there are some excellent cycle routes. (You will find all details in the gite).

FISHING there are numerous local fishing lakes, where you can get daily permits.(Please ask and we can arrange the permits prior to arrival)

LOCAL CUISINE A wide variety of cuisine is available in our local towns and villages, with menus from 11 euros for 3 to 4 courses.

CHATEAUX and GARDENS and HISTORICAL SITES There are many fabulous places to visit - full details are in the gite.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES There are numerous activities to suit all the family, Adventure in the trees ( at Pierres Jumatres and the lake at Sidiailles), Llama trecking, pony trecking, Zoo de Beauval ( Europe's biggest zoo), Le Pal an exellent zoo and theme park to suit all ages, Wolf Park at Guéret and the giant maze, Futuroscope is 90mins drive away.

BROCANTES This is equivalent to a british car boot sale, where the french fill the roads selling their wares, if you want a taste of the real french life, it is not to be missed, you can eat and there are small rides etc for the children. Remember to barter!!!

“Fabulous,spotless holiday rental in wonderful surroundings”

Everything about Gite du Lavande ticked the boxes that we were looking for in a holiday rental, but we did not expect was the wonderful hospitality & welcome from Tony & Ann. The gite is spotlessy clean and they have taken their knowledge to a different level when considering the needs of holidaymakers. There are safety gates on both top & bottom of the stairs and a suitable selection of toys & games for the children. We would hope that any other holidaymakers are not put off with the fact that the owners live on site, Tony & Ann are there to be called upon if needed for advice or help, but keep a discrete distance if that is what is preferred. The gite is a credit to the owners who don't realise what a wonderful place they have created.
