“wish this was our house!” First of all, sorry Karen and Craig for not writing this review months ago! Even though our GPS tried to take us down roads that were not roads, we finally found our way to this simple, beautiful and wonderfully secluded cottage. Craig showed us to our very spacious room with a wonderful bathroom (big shower:)) and a fantastic seating area out back with our own grill. the room was stocked with great maps of the area and Craig and Karen were full of wonderful options of things to do and places to see in the surrounding towns. We bought all of our groceries in Montrichard and loved grilling in the back yard and cooking in the small kitchen in the cottage. Although we picked a rainy time to come (and couldn't really use the pool)everything was fantastic: from the bird watching, to local farmers markets, and to buying fresh eggs from the farmer across the street. We would gladly give up everything we have to spend our lives in such a beautiful place and it would be even better if we had such great neighboors as Karen and Craig. we had an absolutely fantastic time at the cottage and we can not wait to come back again

“Wonderful base to see the Loire Valley” Spent 5 days at Patrick's beautiful cottage in april. Everything was as described. Very cosy, nicely functional kitchen, plenty of space, washer and clothes dryer a definite plus! Patrick could not have been more helpful with area information, sites to see, etc...he even answered questions while we were there. Highly recommend!

“It was an adorable experience.” It was an adorable experience. We stayed in "Le Clos" for a few days and nights and we enjoyed it entirely. The location is perfect, providing intimacy and silence, yet close to all sort of restaurants, bakery, grocery stores and of course castles and museums.

Our apartment was very well located just steps from the town square. Francois was extremely welcoming and kind, even offered to pick us up at the train station. My number one priority when traveling is a clean apartment and this one was immaculate. The kitchen was better equipped than my own at home. Even the bathroom had everything you could imagine. We had a washer in the apartment which was a plus so we could wash our dirty cycling clothes. I would highly recommend this apartment. … see more

Les Ecuries, wheelchair friendly gite with private terraces & shared heated pool
Just perfect

Perfect gite with beautiful terrace and gardens. The ground floor bedroom and shower room were ideal for my disabled husband and the terraced garden was easily accessible. Pity I forgot to bring my swimming gear as the pool looked so inviting. The gite is furnished to a very high standard and so well equipped. Sue and Trevor were so helpful in giving advice on wheelchair friendly destinations and were the perfect hosts. Located just outside Descartes, the peace and quiet was wonderful and the night skies unpolluted by light. An added bonus was the resident Little Owl. So much to see in the area within an hour's drive along relatively quiet roads. Whether disabled or not, would highly recommend this gite. … see more
Charming Cottage in Cave Village - Stunning Views!
A beautiful place

My wife an I travelled to France for just a week and we wanted to be in the countryside, away from cities but close enough to the Chateaux area. Cave Yucca proved absolutely ideal. It is quiet, peaceful and surrounded by songbirds. The village of Troo which it overlooks is delightful. We spent a wonderful week just driving around the countryside , visiting the historical places, walking in the small towns and just unwinding . The house is set high on the hill in Troo and the pathway is a little challenging but good for you. We thoroughly recommend this place and will be back. Kate the owner was very pleasant and accommodating in our communications,and her French neighbour Alain was extremely helpful. You should make friends with Cus Cus, his beautiful white cat … see more
A Beautiful 5 Star Cottage in the Loire Valley
This Gite would take some beating

I, my wife, my daughter & my son-in-law had the most wonderful week's stay in the La Villate cottage which will sleep up to 5 people. It has been most beautifully restored to a very high standard by Guy Houdayer, the owner who is a superb craftsman having worked at Versailles; wonderfully comfortable beds, even lovely heavy white bath robes provided, his and her basins in the bathroom, a massive corner bath with seat and hand shower, a deluxe walk in shower and lovely thick white towels. The living room is beautifully paneled with 16th century wood panels and the kitchen is equipped with everything you could wish for. Both Guy & Collette Houdayer are very friendly without being intrusive and we found fresh bread hung on our door on the first morning, a bottle of sparkling wine in the fridge and later in the stay Collette came over with some eggs from their free range chickens and some home made plum jam! Obviously a car is essential for this holiday because it is in a rural situation but there are several very attractive villages and small towns within a range of between 3 and 7 miles which have shops and restaurants and two supermarkets. The small spar town of La-Roche-Posay was out favorite with Cotswold type stone houses built along the river Cruise. It takes a little while to get to the Chaumussay area from the ferry ports and a Satnav is useful, but it is well worth it with temperatures between 24 and 27 degrees centigrade making it an idyllick holiday . … see more
