Pear Tree Cottages: Cider Apple Gold Award 4 star.

Wedmore cottage

  • 2 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms
  • sleeps 4

“One for the books!” Located on the Denby's working farm,I cannot state too many positive accolades about Pear Tree Cottages. In Cider apple, I placed 4 university-aged students at this cottages, with constant visits from 6 more who were placed elsewhere, for 24 days. It was the perfect accommodation. The bedrooms are sizable as well as comfortable. The kitchen/dining and living area are as well. We cooked many meals for 12 and had plenty of dishes, glassware, and cooking implements to make great food. The patio in the back is a wonderful extension to the living space. With a table/umbrella and chairs surrounded by plantings and the sounds of the English countryside, this proved to be a perfect place for all of us to eat, hang out, or have meetings. The cottage is just 1 1/2 miles from the beautiful village of Wedmore. There are wonderful pubs, restaurants and shopping opportunities in Wedmore as well as many other places nearby. You can easily get to Wells, Cheddar Gorge, Burnham-on-Sea, and of course, Glastonbury within a half-hour drive. Then, you get to come home to a warm fire and the quiet of rural life. The service that the Denbys offer is impeccable. Comfy bedding and towels are just the tip of the iceberg. I highly recommend this cottage!

Why Cheddar?

It may be known for being the namesake of the nation's favorite cheese, but this little village isn't cheesy. In fact, it's delightfully traditional and is the perfect destination for a family getaway.

Why not book your vacation rental in Cheddar today so you can start exploring?

About Cheddar

One of the most interesting things about Cheddar is that the Cheddar Gorge sits on its northern edge. It's the largest gorge in the UK and is one of the biggest attractions in the area!

People have lived within and around the gorge since neolithic times – there was once a Saxon palace there! Now it is a quaint village with cobbled streets and a strong community feel! See what you can discover during your stay.

What To Do

If you're a fan of cheese, go to the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company! It's the only place in the village that still makes the cheese this area is known for. They hand-make each piece of unpasteurized cheddar and long-mature it in the traditional way. You can learn everything you'd possibly want to know about the process and can even take some treats home from the gift shop.

Some people don't know this, but Cheddar is also known for its strawberries. Make sure you try some during your stay!
