Description from owner

Description

Helensdale is situated in open countryside, above a rocky bay overlooking the North Channel with uninterrupted views of Ireland.

Within 10 minutes you can walk down to the rocky bay to explore.

It has recently been refurbished to provide luxury accommodation for 6 guests in 3 bedrooms. Accommodation on the ground floor - Lounge with bay window providing an ever changing sea view and enchanting sunsets in the evening, open plan kitchen, dining, sitting area with views over the open countryside to the back of the cottage and plenty of morning sunshine! shower room, double bed room with sea view and twin room with views over the countryside. First floor - double bedroom and bathroom with shower cabinet.

Helensdale is three and a half miles from Drummore and about 3 miles from the Mull of Galloway - the most southernly point in Scotland. It is located on a peninsula which has a varying and enchanting range of coastal features from sandy beaches on the East coast to a variety of cliffs, rocks and sandy coves on the West, the most famous of which are the delightful village of Port Logan and the picturesque fishing village of Portpatrick.

The climate here is warmed by the Gulf Stream and the area is renowned for its Gardens including the exotic Logan Botanic, Logan House, Castle Kennedy, Dunskey and Glenwhan. Also within a 1 hour drive are Culzean near Turnberry and Threave near Castle Douglas.

At the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse is the RSPB reserve which also has webcams at nesting sites and seal breeding areas, This along with the unspoilt countryside and the Mull of Galloway Trail coastal path from Loch Ryan (stranraer) to Mull of Galloway and the Southern Upland Way which starts in Portpatrick makes the area a must for nature lovers and walkers.

There are also a variety of Golf Clubs and fishing locally. Within a 1 hour drive is Galloway Forest Park, with many trails for walking, cycling and mountain biking. Slightly further away is Laggan Outdoor (home of the longest zipwire) Cream of Galloway (activities and home made icecream), Chocolate Factory (near Twynholm) and Loch Ken watersports near Castle Douglas.
