Description

“Ocean View” is a new two storey building - ground floor living space (9.5metres x 5 metres approx) and first floor living space (9.5 metres x 5 metres approx) - both open plan. Additionally, there is a separate fully equipped modern kitchen (3 metres x 3 metres approx) on the ground floor. Toilet and wash basin also on the ground floor. Bathroom including shower, toilet and wash basin on the first floor. There is a mix of double beds and single beds plus a collapsible single bed if needed. The beds can be rearranged between the ground and first floors to suit sleeping arrangements. Utilities - electricity, oil fired central heating included. There is also an open fireplace on the ground floor. Towels and bed linen supplied. Outside water tap and normal clothes line. The house is located close to the new Cottage restaurant at Dugort (across from the old Dugort post office) and at the opposite end of Dugort beach from The Strand Hotel. Open all Year. Satellite TV with up to 300 channels. Discounts for low maintenance groups.

Response from the owner Thanks for the review. All feedback is most welcome and appreciated. The double bed mattresses on the first floor, even though in constant use since the start of the season, are relatively new. Feedback on those continues to be positive. They will soon be replaced in line with normal procedure. The somewhat worn double bed mattress on the ground floor was inadvertently put in place during a fast changeover. This occurred because this mattress was mistakenly identified as the newer one, which was next to it in the storage room. This anomaly has been rectified. Sorry for the inconvenience. Val.

“Perfect island getaway”

Good location two lovely beaches nearby. The cottage was very clean and well equipped and Val was very friendly. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants some within walking distance. The scenery is stunning even in the rain.

Response from the owner We are delighted to receive another positive review. The weather wasn’t great during all of December 2015 and therefore, as always, it was extremely important to ensure that the accommodation was warm and cosy at all times. The oil fired central heating plus the open fire ensures that this is accomplished. Participants in a wide range of outdoor pursuit activities are always extremely thankful for the very comfortable surroundings on their return. The instantly warm showering and drying facilities also help in this regard. The well equipped kitchen with its electric cooker, microwave oven etc ensures that warm food is quickly prepared and consumed. Val (Ocean View, Achill Island)

Response from the owner I?m in total agreement with this reviewer when he says that ?location? is one of ?Ocean View?s? outstanding attributes. While not in competition with the ?Ritz? Ocean View is designed to appeal to a diverse range of visitor and to make the vacation as comfortable and as enjoyable as possible. With regard to the ?open plan? design of the main sleeping area on the first floor the space dividers are used to good effect to accommodate same or mixed gender groups. All that?s required is some creativity as the single beds, in particular, are light weight and easily re-arranged. The same applies to all-age categories but elders should bear in mind that there are two short stair climbs (ten steps in total.) to be negotiated on the way to the first floor. Val.
