Sleeps 1 - 4 people (2 well behaved dogs allowed) Postcode - DG2 8PZ. This renovated former steading cottage is set amidst 70 acres of rolling farmland in glorious Galloway, yet lies only 4 miles from the busy country town of Dumfries and twelve miles from the food town of Castle Douglas in an ideal touring base. Steeped in history, blessed with stunning scenery and enjoying world-class mountain biking, golf and other activities. Dumfries and Galloway has something for everyone, with many rocky and sandy beaches to explore, village crafts and museums to visit. Golf, fishing, pony trekking, bird watching, sailing and windsurfing all close by, with Mabie Forest, Ae Forest and Dalbeattie Forest all offering excellent mountain biking and walks for all abilities. Nearby towns offer excellent shopping as well as a selection of cafes and restaurants. Shop 4 miles, pubs and restaurants 4 miles. For families there is Cocoa Bean Chocolate factory, Dalscone Farm Park, Cream of Galloway ice cream park and Mabie Farm Park. Ground floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double and 1 twin. “Good place to stay”

A friend and I stayed for 1 week in Four Mile cottage. It was perfect for the two of us. Bedrooms were spacious with plenty of storage. The kitchen is very well equipped and the little garden was great for sitting out in the morning. It was all super clean and looked very welcoming on arrival. I had my greyhound with me. The small fenced garden was good for her but a step up to the wall onto the grass would have been helpful. The bigger area where I could take her on a lead was a bonus. The dining table is big enough for two and the seating area could accommodate four. There is a TV but the sound quality is very poor, my friend is only very slightly hard of hearing and couldn't understand it at all. We had fun exploring the local area which is very pretty. We recommend Loch Arthur farm shop, especially the restaurant. On booking I was concerned about the obvious proximity of the A73 and it is audible from the garden but we couldn't hear it in the house and it really wasn't a problem. It also makes the cottage very easy to find. Overall a super, well equipped and cared for cottage that was a pleasure to stay in.

How do damage deposits work?
