In this beautiful Regency house, witness stunning sea-views, and look out over the rooftops of the historic Old Town of Hastings.

The house is situated in what was once a rope walk, and was reputedly built as part of a larger tenancy project for the Duke of Wellington's naval officers as they retired from service. Wellington was stationed nearby with his brigade (in 1806) and lived in the High Street.

Hastings itself has a strong arts community. The newly-built, modern Jerwood Gallery is only a 4-5 minutes walk away, in The Stade area. The remains of the first castle to be built by William the Conqueror can also be visited on foot.

Your stay here may coincide with the renowned Sea Food and Wine Festival in the early Autumn, or the Jack in the Green Festival in May, perhaps even the Hastings bonfire and fireworks display in November.

Other nearby attractions include the St Clement's Caves and Smugglers Adventure (5 minutes walk away), the cosy Electric Palace Cinema, boutique shops, and homely pubs and restaurants (all within 500 yards of the house).

In the spring and summer, the East Hill offers an excellent place to picnic, whilst the 660 acres of Hastings Country Park provides wonderful scenery for long or short country walks (*an “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”).

The property description is as follows:

There are twenty-one steps to front entrance (though there is alternative level-access at the property's rear).

On the ground floor: A beautifully lit dining room/hall with a comfortable wooden floor, as well as a fully-equipped kitchen/breakfast room with gas-range (for cooking), and a double sink. There is also a separate toilet, three steps up from the kitchen.

Lower ground floor: A games room/snug with large TV, DVD-player, Sky-Television, table-football, coffee table, lamps, sofas, etc. There is an additional kitchen here as well; a washing/drying machine, and general utility.

1st floor: A spacious drawing-room with a wood-burning stove, a coffee table, lamps, sofas, chairs, and (as with most rooms) excellent sea views. The wireless hub is also located here.

2nd floor: A master bedroom with 6ft mahogany, half tester bed. Plenty of storage space, as well as a bathroom with a roll-top bath, a separate large shower-cubicle and toilet.

3rd floor: Double bedroom with low 6ft bed, and ornamental fireplace. There is another bathroom here, with a shower attachment, tiled floor and toilet.

4th floor: Two double bedrooms, each with sloping ceilings; one with a 5ft bed, ornamental fireplace and French door to small balcony with sea view; the other with a 5 foot double bed, which can be unzipped into two single beds, if preferred, and Juliet balcony.

There is plenty of storage space throughout the property, and in each of the bedrooms. Towels and bed linen provided.

A high chair and travel cot are available on request.

The property has FREE WiFi.

It is SELF-CATERING and allows for 1 PET (MAX.)

“Lovely house, conveniently placed”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2017

Lovely house with magnificent views over Hastings Old Town. Very conveniently placed close to the seafront, Old Town shops and all the amenities if you are fit enough to climb the hills. There are many restaurants and pubs close by, catering for all tastes. The house was spacious enough to accommodate the needs of a three generational stay such as that of my family. I particularly appreciated the quiet sitting room with its collection of books and the lovely views of the town and sea. My grandchildren loved the tv and games room in the basement, and all the family were pleased with the good wifi reception throughout the six storey house. The kitchen was well equipped as was the rest of the house, and the beds were extremely comfortable.
