Description from owner

Description

A unique, spacious, atmospheric and historic Grade II listed house in Holy Island (Lindisfarne) village centre sleeping 8 adults in 4 bedrooms. Pets welcome. This is an ideal holiday let for one or two families or groups of friends.

Holy Island is cut off from the mainland by the tide twice a day, and is a magical and peaceful place to unwind. Set back from the road, with no passersby or other houses overlooking it, the house provides an especially tranquil retreat, even in high summer. It is very close to cafes, pubs and beaches, as well as the famous Castle and Priory. Numerous beautiful walks from the doorstep are listed in our guest folder.

With accommodation on three floors, Links View is the largest holiday home on the island. Our many repeat visitors say they love that this is a real family home with lots of personal touches, William Morris wallpaper, and antique as well as modern furniture (and not another bland magnolia holiday let!) The house is ideal for families, as there is lots of fun to be had for children in the house, with games, DVDs and toys provided and lots of places for hide and seek. Adults will find it a romantic and relaxing retreat.

Most of the current house was built in 1800. The earlier house on the site was used as a military garrison for the nearby Castle, and the existing cellar dates from the 16th Century.

Ground floor: Large, well-equipped kitchen/breakfast room with dishwasher, washer/drier, electric oven/hob and microwave. Living room with TV, video and DVD player. Ground floor toilet.

First Floor: 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, bathroom with toilet, standard bath and double walk-in shower cubicle.

Second Floor: 1 double bedroom with wash handbasin, 1 twin bedroom with wash handbasin, separate toilet.

Travel cot (crib), highchair, games, toys and hundreds of books.

Central heating throughout. Wifi.

Shared yard, private patio, outdoor furniture and barbeque.

Up to two dogs welcome in large kitchen-dining room.

Ideally placed for walks from the front door and all local attractions. Details of our favourite walks, places to visit and activities are all provided in a guest folder.

Non-smokers only.

Bed linen and towels provided.

Not suitable for wheelchair users.

Please just get in touch if you have any questions, or would like to see our Access Statement.

“Great Stay - pet friendly”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2022

Great location at far end of village - set back from quiet lane with ample parking outside. Plenty of oldy worldy period features and charm over 3 floors. Ideal for large party. We had a very relaxing break, staying for 3 nights with our 2 labs. House is bigger than it looks in pics. We rattled around but settled on lovely big bedroom on first floor. Cosy room, comfy bed with linen and plenty of towels provided. We loved the huge kitchen which was well equipped, with easy to use appliances. We were able to contain our dogs in the kitchen area as there is a flexigate on door stopping them entering rest of house. Dog bed provided was helpful. Plenty of board games, DVD and videos, and piano for rainy days. TV had a little bit interference on some channels but not an issue for us. One bathroom with bath and shower in together. Perhaps another separate shower would be useful for larger parties. 3 Toilets. Owner helpful and quick to respond to my queries. Would definately like to return and happy to recommend to others.

“Excellent stay”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2022

Stopped for 3 nights. Huge house bigger than it looks in pictures. Only 2 of us so rattled around. Our dogs stayed in kitchen area which is very large with flexi gate to stop them entering lounge. Big old victorian house over 3 floors with many original features. Very well equipped for home from home stay with dishwasher dryer wash machine etc. Only thing needed to bring was food Clean and tidy. Comfy bed and plenty towels. 3 toilets but only one bathroom. Perhaps could do with another separate shower in the property for larger party staying. Property is set back from street and entry is through a little gateway, but ideally positioned at end of village and very quiet. Host very helpful and quick to respond to queries. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would book again.

“Good for large family”

Reviewed 3 May 2022

This house has much to commend it. One of few places on Holy Island able to accommodate 6 adults, 2 children and a dog. There was plenty of room for us all. In a lane in the village with sufficient parking for 3 cars. 4 bedrooms (2 with double beds, 2 with twin beds). Well stocked kitchen with large dining table. Cosy living room with games, DVDs, piano & toy box. Good WiFi. 3 toilets but only one bathroom with shower & bath so a queue in the mornings. Take your own bath towels as the ones provided are small. Outside seating area. BBQ supplied but grubby so we used our own. Rather shabby-chic. Can’t take possession till 5 pm and have to be out by 9.00 am (good breakfast cafe round corner). Good value for money. We had an enjoyable 3 night/4 day stay.

“Really great holiday”

Reviewed 27 Feb 2022

Lovely, large house on Lindisfarne. We had a great time and would book again. The house sleeps 8 but there were only 4 of us so we had plenty of room. The only downsides were (1) that although there was a bath and a shower they were in the same bathroom so if there were 8 people it could take a long time for everyone to get ready and (2) you need to do grocery shopping on the mainland. The kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of books, dvd's and games. There are walks right from the door with wonderful views. We plucked up courage to do a bit of the pilgrims way across the sand on the falling tide and will attempt a bit further (or maybe all of it) next time we visit.
