“Ideal for family”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2015

This is a really beautiful house for famlly, couples or also for teenargers. The good thing in that house is that you have a bathroom per bedroom. You can enjoy of a cosy kitchen. The swimmingpool lies near the house. The see on the valley of Montecchio is wonderful. People who live there are welcoming. The owner is sympatic. This is a typical itilian village so there are no shops or others. Be carefull for mosquitoes, there are a lot!

“Perfect villa next to Umbrian village!”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2015

We (4 adults, 4 children aged 7-12) were looking for a villa in Umbria within a walking distance from a village. Our previous villas have been a little bit further, and this time we wanted something quite near to a village or city. We were first a little bit hesitant about this villa, since there were no previous reviews. Things turned out to be perfect! Finding the owners and communicating with them (Claudia does not speak too much English) was a little bit tricky, but checking in went fine despite this. We got the wi-fi we requested (with 20 euro extra) for and worked well enough during our stay. The villa is 200-300 meters from Montecchio, a small Umbrian hilltop town with a couple of supermarkets, butcheries, a lively bar (which seems to be the hotspot of activity in the village) and a couple of restaurants. You can get what you need in Montecchio, but bigger shopping we did in Coop of Orvieto. The villa in itself is really nice and well equipped. It has 5 bedrooms, and can house 10 people easily. The villa was well cleaned when we arrived. The kitchen is fully equipped, and you have enough of plates, glasses, forks and so on (this is not always so, according to our experience). You have a beautiful view to the valley. The pool is big enough, and next to the villa so that you can sip your Campari in peace while the kids are swimming. We really needed the pool, since it was between 33 and 38 degrees celsius during our stay! The rubbish collection system in Montecchio is a little complicated - mixed waste is collected only once per week, biowaste three times per week, and so on. You dump your waste to the bin at the villa gate. There are instructions (in Italian) in the villa, English might be a little better. We got additional information from Casamerina as we needed, no problem in there. Driving to and from the villa can be a little hair-raising, as the hillside is pretty steep and the "street" is quite narrow. But you get used to this after a while in Umbria. I really don 't have too much to complain about the villa. You could have better grilling equipment, and you tend to capture a lot of insects and stuff in the pool, but other than that - nothing to complain! The pool guy visited once during our one-week stay. This villa really delivers what is promised. It is next to a nice small hilltop town with a medieval center, restaurant La Perla is very worth visiting if you are feeling lazy (try risotto funghi porcini there - it is heavenly). There is a lot to see nearby (Civita di Bagnoregio, Orvieto, Spoleto, Marmore falls, "Monster park" in Bomarzo, Villa Lante in Bagnaia, to name a few), so you can easily spend a week or two in the area. Highly recommended - great quality for the price!
