Description from owner

Description

Enjoy a self-catering holiday in rural Normandy, in our stone built, south facing, detached cottage. Sleeps up to five people plus a baby in a cot.

The cottage has two upstairs bedrooms, one a with a double bed and the other with a double and single bed. On the ground floor there is a spacious lounge/dining area. There is a wood burning fire for those days when is is slightly cooler or out of the main summer season. Also there is free wifi and free to view English tv and dvd player. There is a separate well equipped kitchen with Belfast sink, hob, cooker, microwave, toaster and washing machine. The shower room is on the ground floor.

The cottage has off road private parking at the front of the property and is situated on a quiet country lane. There is a pleasant enclosed garden with garden furniture and barbecue. It has views over wooded countryside and across the valley.

The cottage is within walking distance, down the hill, to Mortain, which has a few restaurants, a couple of bars, outdoor heated swimming pool during summer months, tennis courts, shops, a small cinema and a supermarket, with a petrol station.

This is a holiday experience where you can, experience the peace and quiet of the countryside or the hustle and bustle of the local markets or towns, participate in a local fete or medieval spectacular, wander through woods, by the river or spend a day at the beach. Explore and learn more about the history of the area or just sit with a good book and a glass of local cider, a baguette and a selection of local cheeses. A great holiday for all awaits.

Response from the owner Hi, thank you for your review, I am pleased you found plenty to do in the rural setting and enjoyed the local restaurants. For future travellers our neighbours are set back from the gite with a large vegetable garden at the front, they are a very pleasant retired French couple. In relation to the refuse we will check with the local council if there has been a change in collection arrangements and advise accordingly.
