Description

Shell Cottage is a sea-side fisherman's cottage standing on a cobbled street in the vibrant coastal village of Mumbles in South West Wales. Sleeping 5/6 in 3 bedrooms plus a sofa bed there are sea views throughout, a 'crow's nest' decking area with panoramic views of the bay and a patio overlooking the sea.

Located just a few steps from the promenade, Victorian pier and lighthouse, there is a children's play park and crazy golf nearby and the medieval Oystermouth Castle and a range of boutiques and shops all easily accessible on foot. There are numerous restaurants, cafe bars and quality ice-cream parlours within walking distance of the cottage and a real ale micro brewery pub on the foreshore a short stroll away. Mumbles is the gateway to the beautiful Gower Peninsula with fabulous Blue Flag beaches and coastal path walks.

Getting around

To the west of Mumbles and about a 10 minute walk from Shell Cottage, you will find the charming coves of Bracelet Bay and Limeslade with children's play park, Pizzeria and restaurant with stunning sea views of the lighthouse. From Bracelet Bay begins a scenic cliff-top walk which follows the spectacular coastline round to a number of sandy beaches including Rotherslade (15 minutes walk), Langland (20 minutes) and Caswell Bay (40 minutes). These beaches and many others are also easily accessible by car from Shell Cottage and both Langland (5 minutes drive) and Caswell (less than 10 minutes drive) have accessible carparking. Both are wonderful sandy beaches with rock pools ideal for families with beach shops and cafes just off the sand.

“If you’re thinking of booking this property, do it! ”

Shell Cottage is a gorgeous little place: tastefully decorated, thoughtfully provisioned and clearly much loved. It might be a twee cottage but it was plenty big enough for a family of 4 which includes two people over 6 foot. A lot of thought has gone into making the best use of space (there is masses of storage) and it’s equipped for every need. The beds and furnishings are comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean. The location is an added bonus - just off the main road, providing glorious views of Swansea Bay. Despite the proximity to the main road, the property was pleasantly peaceful as well as being in the midst of all The Mumbles has to offer. All the local facilities are within a 10 minute walk and the little gems of The Gower within walking distance for anyone up for walking further afield although everything was easily reached by car too. Before and during our stay, the owners were very responsive to our communication We loved this place and will definitely return which is why we’re happy to highly recommend.

“Amazing”

Fabulous Cottage, had everything from milk to spices, the beds & bedding the best iv slept in. Excellent position parked up on Saturday didn't get back in the car until Tuesday just to explore a little further round the coast. Only negative unable to book next year as property already booked up.
