Description
As with all the facilities on our farm, the Coco cabaña is off-grid, which is great if you're looking for a low impact holiday.
All electricity is from solar panels. THE SYSTEM IS NOT DESIGNED FOR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES WITH HEATING ELEMENTS: NO HAIR DRYERS OR HAIR STRAIGHTENERS!!! But is fine for recharging phones, laptops etc. If there is no sun for a couple of days, we may have a no electricity...don't worry we have candles!
It's very important that our guests are willing to embrace the principle of using the resources carefully and responsibly, so please consider what this means. Please speak to us before booking, if you have any questions regarding your water and power needs.
The cabaña can sleep up to 6: upstairs is open plan and has a double and 1 set of bunk beds; downstairs there is a sofa that converts into 1 double bed. There is a log burning stove (we provide free wood from beginning October to end of May but you are welcome to buy firewood if you want a fire during the summer months); a shower room with a toilet; and a small basic kitchen, with 2 ring burner, sink, hot water heater and kitchen and dining ware for 6. There is a communal fridge close to the house. This is shared by the cabana, yurt and caravan, so you have a shelf each.
Outside, the South West facing stone terrace has a large sun parasol, and table and benches for outdoor dining. We also have a family size barbecue which you're welcome to use.
If you want a break from cooking, meals can be prepared on request: high quality evening meals 25 euros per person (half price for children under 12); sumptuous breakfasts (10€ per person, half price kids under 12). Our food is always freshly prepared to a high standard and we use our own organic produce where possible. Please give 24 hours notice if you would like a meal.
WiFi is available near by at Straw Bale HQ WHEN THERE IS ENOUGH SOLAR ENERGY
Also, we have a good sized trampoline that kids are welcome to play on.
Of course, we´ll be present during your stay as the farm is where we do our daily work. We´re generally pretty busy, so you´ll probably see us on our way to feed the pigs or look after the greenhouse..don´t worry though, we´ll do our best to give you your own space as much possible.
If you're interested in off-grid living or anything else that we're doing, then we are very happy to chat and share knowledge or information.
During the summer, on certain weeks we will have a qualified cycle ride leader staying with us. He will be offering guided cycling and walking tours around the area and will have cycles to rent. Please let us know if you're interested and we'll put you in touch.
We're also developing a series of laminated cycle and walking routes of varying lengths and difficulty. You're welcome to browse them and borrow one if it takes your fancy.
