Description from owner

Description

The Brew House is tucked away in the tiny hamlet of Knighton in the beautiful East Wight countryside. Being on the Bembridge Trail, the cottage is perfect for walkers of all ages. An excellent, traffic-free bike path is just a few hundred metres away - borrow from our wide selection of bikes, including a tandem! You can also borrow a sit-on-top kayak to take to the beach or use for exploring the creeks and estuaries around this beautiful island. A Welcome Hamper will greet you when you arrive, with a selection of Isle of Wight produce, and home-made goodies! The two-bedroom Brew House is perfect for families of all ages, with a wide selection of toys, games and books. It is also an ideal cottage for couples. There is a private courtyard with teak table and chairs, perfect for al fresco dining. The wood-burning stove in the Inglenook fireplace makes for cosy evenings in the autumn and winter. A well-equipped kitchen makes self-catering a pleasure.

Further details

During cooler times of year, we will provide all the wood needed for the wood-burning stove.

Short breaks (minimum 3 nights) are possible, September to June, outside the main summer season.

Further details indoors

There is a comfortable living room with oak floor, inglenook fireplace (with bread oven) and Charnwood wood-burning stove. The dining table seats four, but there are extra chairs if needed. There are two bedrooms, the twin room being accessed through the main bedroom, making this an ideal arrangement for children. In the twin room there is a proper wooden cot in addition to two single beds. The main bedroom has a king-size double bed. Linens are all new and of excellent quality and beds will be made up for you on arrival. Your electricity is powered by the Isle of Wight sunshine, as we have a good solar installation here for the whole house, and there is plenty of heating available from our biomass boiler installation. There is plenty of information in The Brew House of the many, many attractions and activities on the Isle of Wight, and we are usually around too, to give ideas and recommendations.

Further details outdoors

Outside, The Brew House has its own private courtyard with a teak table and 4 chairs, and also garden bench. There is a small herb garden planted here for your use in your holiday cooking! We are also very happy for you to make use of the grassed area under the trees at the front of the property, where there is a second garden bench in the shade. We have a selection of outdoor ride-on toys for small people! Parking is easy and safe, and there is space for 2 cars. We also have a selection of bikes (including a tandem), a sit-on-top kayak and wetsuits that we are happy for you to borrow.

Getting around

The Brew House is in a very rural location, and so only has a direct bus service once a day. Most guests therefore bring a car. However, overall, the Isle of Wight has a very good bus network, with the nearest hub being in Ryde (approximately 7km away). Good value 'Day Rover' or 'Week Rover' tickets are available for unlimited bus travel on the Southern Vectis network. Biking (you can borrow our bikes) or renting a car from various locations, are also other options. There are taxis, but these tend to be expensive.

Interaction with guest

We are almost always around to answer any questions about the Island, and help in any way we can to make this a very enjoyable holiday for you.
We are English, but David speaks French and Ali speaks German.
