This beautiful, four season Nova Scotia rental cottage is on Canada's Bay of Fundy, near Parrsboro. Everyone is welcome – multi-generation families with kids, small groups of friends & colleagues, couples, solitary travelers, and dogs – if visitors promise to keep them off the furniture.
The only vacation rental property on the beach in Fox River – visitors to other vacation rental properties in the area have to drive to the beach. Our luxury cottage is located on a one-of-a-kind point of land on Nova Scotia's Bay of Fundy - directly on two beaches, with the world's highest tides right at the doorstep. The east side of the cottage is on a stunning salt water marsh, which fills and empties with the tide – walk across the ocean floor at low tide & wonder how you did it when the tide comes in and completely covers where you walked! The south side is on a virtually deserted beach – go for long walks & treasure hunt for driftwood, shells & who else knows what you might find?
The dining room is one of our favourite rooms. It is a huge room with windows on three sides, and so has beautiful ocean and marsh views any time of the day or night - the chandelier came from Toronto.

The dining room table was made locally - its legs are hand-turned. This table can easily sit ten people, and is great for dinner parties or for working on projects. The dining room chairs are all wood, and were all refinished for the Beach House.
The kitchen has all new appliances - fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave, electric kettle, coffee maker, toaster and even a popcorn maker. The double sink makes meal preparation and clean-up easy, and you can look out the window over the sink as you prepare your meals. The kitchen is fully equipped with lots of dishes, including Dansk Arabesque, tea towels and so on. All you have to bring is your food!
The kitchen counter tops are white ceramic tile. The kitchen is separated from the eating area by a bar, where you can work or sit on stools and watch the ocean.
The sitting area has three walls of windows. The wood fireplace in the sitting area was made using rocks from the beach. All the pieces of furniture in the this area have stories. The bench which faces the fireplace was made by the owner's Dad in the 1950s.
The office/bedroom on the main floor provides a quiet, private place for a visitors who do not want to climb stairs to the 2nd floor - the main floor bathroom is right next door & the sitting room has a satellite tv for private use. A drop leaf table is used as a desk, and a wash stand is used as a table for the fax machine. Connection to our wireless highspeed internet service is in the dining room - so that you can watch the view as the Bay of Fundy tides fill and empty the marsh.
Everyone who visits the Beach House loves the sun room. This room originally was going to be a screened-in porch. However, during construction it turned out to be such a great room that it became a glassed-in sun porch.
The bathroom on the main floor has a toilet, sink and a shower. The wainscotting is pine. Liz found the old medicine chest above the sink in her barn, and it was refinished for the Beach House. Open the door of the medicine chest, and you can see that its back was made from a tea chest.
The master bedroom is a wonderful place for a peaceful sleep. The queen size bed is covered by a quilt made by Madge Yorke, Liz's Mum. There are lots of queen size pillows to make reading in bed comfortable.
The second bedroom has two antique three-quarter beds, with new box springs and mattresses. The metal frame bed was Liz's maternal grandparents bed, and the spool bed came from her Dad's family. Each of the beds has a quilt and extra pillows. This bedroom has a custom made tall chest of drawers, and a refinished birch dresser.
The upstairs bathroom is one of the most relaxing bathrooms you'll ever find. It has a pine ceiling and walls, and a spa bath. You can soak in the bathtub and look for miles up the marsh.
From the upstairs sun room, you can walk out to a private balcony. The balcony is made with closed sides, so that it can be used on warm days throughout the year. An outdoor light makes it easy to use the balcony any hour of the day or night.

The Beach House has been an oasis of relaxation for the three of us-admiring the spectacular scenery over the Bay of Fundy, soaking up the sun after a long cold winter, watching the various birds in the pine trees, listening to the lapping water of the tides coming in below us and gazing at the stars in the night sky from the sundeck.
This bright airy home with its comfortable rooms, great selection of books to read, and two fireplaces lacked no amenities .We had everything we could ever need!
The area is rich in history and exploring the small friendly ports along the Bay brings to mind the ship building days of yore and a quiet pace of life that still exists today in this less travelled part of the province. There is so much to enjoy in the area from fossil cliffs, to museums, and even live theatre.
We only wish we had found this delightful retreat sooner. To us, this has become one of our preferred destinations and we recommend it highly!
