During summer months, the main square of the village comes to life, with restaurants, bars, and shops – there are several restaurants in the village. Most of the surrounding neighborhoods are quiet, and reached by pedestrian pathways. The Monastery of St. John is the primary place to visit, and it has a small museum with exquisite and fascinating artifacts.

The harbor town of Skala is the main shopping area. There are many beaches, some are popular for families, many are small and secluded, and of course all face the crystal clear waters of the blue Aegean Sea.
