Pevensey bay is steeped in history from 1066 and the landing by William of Normandy to 1944 and the preparation for the DDay landings. There are many historic sites to visit in the area.

- Pevensey Castle

- Battle (1066 the location )

- Dungeness

- Camber Sands

- Beachy Head and lighthouse

- Birling Gap

- Belle Tout lighthouse

- Eastbourne and the Pier

During WW2 my father and mother were in the RAF and were posted to Eastbourne. My father was a radio technician and helped maintain the ‘Y’ section intercept station on Beachy Head. My mother was a WAAF heavy lorry driver. In early 1944 they met under the clock tower at Eastbourne railway station and romance blossomed, they married in 1947. The area has great significance for our family. They bought Tombreck in 1984 as a holiday home for the family. Many of the pictures etc in the bungalow reflect their history.

“Beach-side bungalow”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2019

Perfect for our needs - you open the door and you are on the beach. Although we did some gentle exploring - Eastbourne and Bexhill (beautiful Del La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill) we could have been very happy just beachcombing and sitting and watching the sea and the birds. Clean house with everything you need for a stay - useful kiosk a short walk down the road.

“Great property - dog friendly”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2018

Spacious property, well equipped kitchen, everything you need. Beautiful views overlooking the sea. Wonderfully relaxing, peaceful bungalow right on the pebble beach.. Local pet friendly pub - Castle Inn, great food, very welcoming staff. Supermarket within 2 miles, together with other well known shops. Lovely area, very enjoyable. Only one minor point - steps to front of bungalow. For those who are older or have any leg/joint problems, difficult to get up and down with cases, shopping etc. additional handrails would have helped. that said - it was a great holiday. Really enjoyed it - would recommend for couples who want a relaxing break or families who want to explore - so much to see and do in area.
