Description

The cottage is a renovated stone building that at one time was the stable to one of the original farm houses (next door) on the hill in Mumbles over 150 years ago. The property has been very sympathetically renovated keeping the old features and architecture, complimenting it with the highest level of modern comforts and technology. The one bedroom luxury cottage comprises of the bedroom with white washed stone walls, hardwood (double glazed)windows & period furniture. There is a stairway that leads to a landing with views of Swansea Bay and the entrance to the bathrooms comprising of a power shower, toilet and double wash basins. The flooring through out this project is one inch thick oak planking, which runs through the cottage up and down stairs with only the bedroom being carpeted and the kitchen (original quarry black and red tiles). There is a gallery /mezz level upstairs which again sports a view of the bay. This is a area to relax in the oversize chair along side the book case and BOSE sound system (bring your ipod as there is a docking station).

The ground floor for the property consists of the primary living dining area with partial vaulted ceilings, stone walls, and oak beams. There is a large flat screen TV if you get tired of the view and a small but fully fitted gourmet kitchen where you have all you need to rustle up anything from your morning cappuccino to Sunday lunch for two, that is if you chose not to take advantage of any one of the local coffee shops and restaurants that are no more than a couple of minutes walk from your front door.

Please note that unfortunately we can not take any bookings for less than 3 nights. This is only due to the overhead costs incurred in getting this property ready to the standard we are proud of for yourselves and then again once you have left for our next guests. We give our apologies for any inconvenience. You will also find that the web site will only generate a quote for three or more nights.

House rules

Guest must be over 18 and we can take children but the property is not so safe for young children or toddlers due to the open design and stairs that can not be blocked of.. if the child is a baby no problem or over i would say 6 as a guide

“Four spring days in the Mumbles”

We loved staying in the Shorebase Annex. If you, like us enjoy quirky novel cottages, you will love this: rooms on different levels, interesting features, lots of seating areas including a window seat in the kitchen, and an area on a mezzanine. The kitchen area was well equipped, with everything we needed, and the garden with its sea view was a bonus. We were able to park near, and infarct didn't need to use the car at all. We walked to Caswell Bay on a beautiful sunny day and Clyne Gardens in the wind and wet. On the other day we took the bus into Swansea and went to the Maritime museum. So much more we could have done! On our way home we went to Rhossili beach which was breathtaking.

Response from the owner Dear Bryn, I am glad our expensive two year old leather sofas didn't wreak your stay too much. Parking is not the easiest if you don't have a car that can go up the lane behind our property where we have a garage. I know if your not a confident driver having stone walls either side of the lane can be a little intimidating. I will take note of your constructive criticism and make sure that we have more cushions available for our guests in the future.

I wish you had mentioned it during your stay as pillows are a easy fix and even a board unthe springs would have been totally doable and would have let us keep our 5 straight point rating which we pride ourselves on achieving ....I hope we get to welcome you back some time (with a harder bed) Kind regards Sarah
