Description
This is a truly lovely house, very Spanish and full of charm and character. We have refurbished it with style and filled it with lovely furniture, some modern and some antique, with Moroccan and Spanish influences.
The house sits in half an acre of cyprus, olive and almond trees stretching across three terraces. On the lower terrace, partly secluded by trees and shrubs, is the 9m (30ft) swimming pool with spacious stone terrace, perfect for sunbathing or relaxing in the shade. There are sun loungers and umbrellas but for most of the day there is shade in one perfect spot, under the old olive tree.
We have created beautiful gardens which lead to the house and down to the pool, from the formal entrance garden to the stone path with pretty fountain, you will be surrounded by flowers and shrubs. The trees are mature and give much needed shade, but the oleanders, lilies and lantana lift everything with brilliant colours.
The large, bright living room is at the front of the house and leads straight through the French windows onto the pool terrace, facing the mountains. There's a large comfortable sofa and armchairs so you can relax and watch the kiddies playing by the pool. It's all open plan and at the far end of the room, by the kitchen, there's a dining table (seating 10). The open plan family kitchen is well equipped for a large group with generous work surfaces, breakfast bar, a large larder cupboard and plenty of room to cook in comfort while others can be just across the room watching the large screen smart TV.
POOL: The 9m (30 ft) pool is stunning with a backdrop of huge skies and the Contra Viesa mountains. The pool is very private with a large terrace stretching around two sides and many green shrubs and trees forming a soft foreground to the mountains. It's 360' perfect! The whole pool area is south facing and gets loads of sun and is always a big hit with guests who often hurry back from trips to relax here until dusk. There are sun loungers, table and umbrella, and always a shady area under the generous olive tree.
FOUR BEDROOMS: There are two large L-shaped bedroom suites, both with a curtained area for privacy, both with ensuite bathrooms. ROJO, or Bedroom Suite 1, leads off the living room and also has access into the sun lounge which doubles up as bedroom 4 (if required). AZUL, or Bedroom Suite 2, features french windows leading into the private back garden, this bedroom is at the back of the house and has access to two patios where you can relax in the sun or shade. Both bedroom suites have room for a couple and two children, there's also a cot for baby (optional). Bedroom 3 has a comfy double bed and is next to the house bathroom. Next to this is Bedroom 4 which has one single bed (with an option for two) this room also overlooks the pool at the front of the house, it has large windows with curtains for privacy. The house sleeps 11 with some sharing and can comfortably accommodate young children sharing with Mum and Dad or grandparents.
All the rooms in the house have fans, the zircon reaches form the living room into Suite Rojo and there is a portable air-con unit for Suite Azul.
GARDENS: There are several garden areas starting with the entrance gravel garden with paths and fountain, the pool is surrounded by gardens and finally there's a large very private back garden accessed from the pool and also via french windows in bedroom suite 2.
DISCOUNT: The house is suitable for two families or a large group of close friends, we can stretch to sleep 12 with children sharing.
But if you are a family or group of six or less, make this clear and in June and September we can offer you a 10% reduction.

If you book our holiday home the deposit and subsequently the balance is held by this website, we do not receive the money until you arrive, but your booking is secure.
If your stay is for two weeks we provide fresh bedlinen at the mid point.
We can arrange for extra cleaning during your stay and we can organise someone to shop, cook and clean up, at reasonable rates, if you let us know you’d be interested before you arrive.
Bedlinen and towels provided, plus pool towels. We maintain a high standard of cleanliness and our plumbing is up to the minute with three overhead showers and plenty of solar heated water.
DISCOUNT: The house is suitable for two families or a large group of close friends, we can at a stretch sleep 12, but if you are a family or group of six or less, make this clear and we will offer you a 10% reduction.

A beautiful old, country house with lots of room for a big group. With 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and the option of extra single beds in two of the bedrooms. The house sleeps 11 plus baby comfortably, but we can stretch to 12 if necessary. The main entrance is into the large open plan living/dining room, at the front of the house across the sun terrace and facing to pool. We can send you a plan if this will help you understand the layout, but our past guests have found everything flows and works well - see the reviews.
The kitchen has a hob, overhead extractor, electric oven, microwave, 2 fridges and ample work surfaces and dishwasher. The washing machine and fridge freezer is in the outside kitchen space where there's a washing line and a clothes horse - things dry very quickly here in the summer, the ironing board and cleaning equipment is here too.
Unlike most Spanish houses the bedrooms are large, with bedroom 2 opening up onto the back garden terrace with pergola, Rose and wisteria - it's a truly lovely space, very quiet and far form the pool and noisy children! The three bathrooms will give you more privacy, much needed if you have kiddies or are a large group.
The owners live in the adjacent building and are on hand for support and advice. However your privacy, and a quiet holiday, are guaranteed. You will not see us unless you want to!

Through large iron gates at the entrance to the property there is parking space for 6 cars. From there the several garden areas begin with the 60m landscaped front entrance garden, and on to the house and private lower terrace where the 9 meter pool is located. There is also a large back garden, completely separate, but accessible along the side of the house past the swimming pool terrace. Everything connects but the different spaces allow groups to have privacy and comfort in different areas.
The trees create privacy and much needed shade although the pool is in full sun all day with some shade from the beautiful ancient olive tree. The gardens and pool terrace are linked by stone pathways and sheltered by over 25 trees: almond, olive, jacaranda and a giant eucalyptus which we have grown from seed. The pool area is especially attractive, paved in light stone and surrounded by trees and bamboo. There are loungers, table and chairs, plus an umbrella for shade. Overlooking the pool is the 'living room' terrace which is the entrance to the house, the BBQ is on this living-room terrace, so you can barbie while taking in the stunning views of the mountains. Outside the adjacent sun lounge, also facing the pool, there's a shady area where you can relax under the huge almond tree with just the birds for company.

“Captivating Cortijo Caliz”
Just back from a wonderful week in the hills near Orgiva...stunning villa, with everything we needed and the support of Tina who owns this little slice of paradise...Travelled up after week in Nerja with our teens who had a chilled time after their exams...perfect pool, bbq, kitchen, beautiful bedrooms and stunning vistas of the mountains...Great area to sit outside/dine shaded which was needed in the hot sun...Recommend biking in the hills, Granada, Thursday Orgiva market, Le Molino bar for drinks and food and taking winding roads up to wonderful high mountain white villages ...a future starting point for a walking holiday in a cooler month...it was a very enjoyable holiday.
