Description from owner

Description

5 Star self catering cottage in beautifully converted listed buildings.

Situated just 30 minutes from Edinburgh and 40 minutes from Glasgow, and within easy reach of the Scottish Borders, Ampherlaw makes the perfect base for exploring. Yet, despite its proximity to these key tourist attractions, the accommodation enjoys a quiet, rural location in South Lanarkshire, close to Carnwath, Biggar and Lanark. Ampherlaw Farmhouse's lovingly restored and converted barns dating from the 18th century now provide luxury self catering accommodation for 2 people, making it the ideal country retreat for a relaxing holiday in the countryside. The accommodation has been tastefully converted in keeping with its Listed Building status, with thick, Scottish sandstone walls and traditional wooden sash and case windows.

The accommodation comprises a huge double bedroom suite with two comfortable fireside armchairs within the bedroom; a multi fuel stove within the sitting area of the bedroom; a large ensuite bathroom; a very large dining room furnished with antiques; and a fully equipped kitchen.

All bed linen, towels and bathrobes are provided by us (changed weekly for longer stay guests), and the price includes a basket of logs and scuttle of coal for the stove, oil central heating and all electricity. Upon arrival you will find the kitchen already stocked with locally sourced produce such as milk, bread, butter, eggs and biscuits, along with tea, coffee and sugar; and the fire will be laid in the winter months. We are here to ensure your holiday is as peaceful and enjoyable as possible.

The cottage is completely self-contained, with its own entrance from our courtyard.

“Excellent accommodation well designed with thoughtful additions to ensure comfort.”

Quiet relaxing country location but within easy reach of local attractions. Friendly welcome from Cass with a lovely welcome pack of food. Well stocked kitchen and many thoughtful extras for added comfort like towelling robes and toiletries. We were visiting to go to the Military Tattoo and this was an ideal location. Plenty of literature on places to visit in the area and further afield. We'll visit again!
