Description

Swallow Cottage consists of open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area with doors to patio and small garden, one groundfloor bedroom with ensuite shower room and two bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. There is a woodburning stove in the lounge and electric heaters in all rooms.There is undercover parking for 2 or 3 cars adjacent to the cottage. It is situated on a farm in a quiet rural area with mountain views . This is an ideal area for walking, cycling or sightseeing. Guests are welcome to walk around the farm.

Flexible changeover days, short breaks on application. Short break nightly prices quoted are based on a 3 night stay. Please enquire for price for breaks of 4, 5 and 6 nights or for long term stays.

Logs for woodburning stove are supplied free of charge but there is a charge for electricity. You may bring your own towels or I can provide them at a small charge.

Response from the owner You were annoyed because dogs had been in the property before you arrived although you had not mentioned to me before booking that your family were allergic. It was a very short notice booking through an agency and we had not corresponded previously. Unfortuanately a family with a dog had only moved out that morning. Considering your problem with dogs I would have expected you to have asked before booking or at least said something when you arrived when perhaps alternative accommodation could have been found. I did not know of your problem until the following day when you told me of your family's allergies and asked for a refund. which was after using the facilities of the cottage including 5 beds, cot and high chair. I certainly did not tell you there were cracks in the walls as there most definitely are not. We had had brilliant sunshine over the New Year and some flies had obviously found a warm spot around the south facing window and some had entered the room when the window had opened or possibly a few may have come in through the trickle vent in the window. With regards to your phone message I complied with all that you had asked immediately after I had received it. There were a couple of unused black plastic bags in one of the kitchen drawers which could have been used for rubbish of any kind. I understand that you were upset because of your family's allergy to dogs but I would not have taken the booking if I had known.

“quiet”

very quiet - had 2 very good nights sleep The hot water is a little temperamental - especially upstairs very near to Abergavenny - we came for the food festival which was amazing The fan in the downstairs bathroom does not work - so it was a little chilly a number of light bulbs were not working - but to be fair we did not tell anyone - we were busy having a good time

Response from the owner I wish you had said something to me while you were here as I do not understand what you mean about the hot water. There is an immersion heater for the general hot water plus the shower has its own electric heater and both are working. I found one light bulb not working after you left which I could have easily replaced if I had been informed at the time.

Response from the owner I am sorry if you did not find the cottage to your satisfaction, however I live just opposite and you did not tell me of any problems. We live in a rural area where there are no shops and we all have to go to town to buy our milk and groceries and most guests bring these with them. However there are fresh eggs for sale at the neighbouring farm.
