Description

Star Cottage is a 2-bedroom (sleeps 4) riverside holiday cottage in the village of Wroxham, in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. The cottage is close to the famous and iconic Wroxham Bridge and has the great benefit of being on the downstream side of the bridge where all the activity takes place! Star Cottage guests can relax in the lounge or on their private patio while watching the ever-changing scenery of wildlife and boating activities taking place on the river before them.

Guests may fish directly from the cottage lawns (in season only), and many other activities such as cycling, canoeing, walking and horse-riding are available very close by - as are a range of pubs, cafes, restaurants and local shopping in Wroxham village centre, which is only a short walk away. The cottage has it's own private parking but since Wroxham village has a railway station and excellent bus services, so you can easily holiday at Star Cottage without needing a car at all if required.

So, whether you are looking or an energetic holiday or a relaxing one, Star Cottage is the ideal location. And don't forget that Wroxham is within easy exploring distance of Norfolk coast, much beautiful countryside and quaint local villages – or even city-centre shopping in Norwich.

The cottage itself sleeps up to four guests in two comfortable bedrooms, one double and one twin. The whole property has been progressively re-decorated to a high standard by the current owners.

On the ground floor the cottage has an entrance hall with storage and cloakroom, with a large open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen area making-up the rest of the ground floor, with French doors leading out onto a private patio, complete with garden furniture.

Upstairs is a family bathroom including full-size bath with electric shower over. The main double bedroom has views across the river, and includes a dressing table, built-in wardrobe and room for a travel cot if required. The main bedroom also includes a television for those late-night movies!

The smaller twin bedroom also benefits from a built-in wardrobe, and linen and duvets for all beds is included, with beds made-up for your arrival.

Star Cottage may be booked for either full weeks or short breaks lasting 3 or 4 days. In either case a variety of start and end dates are available, subject to any existing bookings – if you have any non-standard requirements please get in touch and we will try very hard to accommodate your needs.

Well-behaved pets are welcome at Star Cottage, and please note that electricity is INCLUDED in the price – no nasty extra bills!. Towels (2 per guest) are provided, and the cottage has it's own broadband Wi-Fi service.

Getting around

Shops and local facilities very close, plus walking distance from Wroxham Railway station (although you may want to use a taxi if you have suitcases etc). Local buses to Norwich and elsewhere

House rules

Be aware that the cottage is close to water so caution should be exercised with very young children. The lawns / gardens are freely available for the use of guests but are shared with the neighbouring properties - so whilst dogs are very welcome, they should be kept on leads and not allowed to run free outside the property.

“Wonderful little place!”

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. The location is perfect it’s so relaxing just watching the boats going by. We had everything we needed & Jeremy (the owner) seems to really care that everything is perfect for you, we had really clear directions & instructions on obtaining keys & operating the car park barrier, small details but they make a difference. We didn’t want to leave and definitely want to return!

Response from the owner This upsets me greatly. It is simply, completely, demonstrably untrue to say that the cottage wasn't cleaned before the visit, and what's more, after having been contacted by the guest by email on a Tuesday evening I responded straight away (within perhaps 10 minutes) to arranged for an additional visit by the cleaning company first thing the next morning. Further, after having arranged for this personal visit, I then had multiple further conversations with the guest over the next couple of days - if that's regarded as being "very unresponsive" what else can I possibly be expected to do? Regarding the cleaning issues - as I say, the cleaning company visited the property and apparently found the guest perfectly friendly and reasonable and after, having done an inspection with them present, it was agreed with them that no further cleaning was required. The guest then stayed for the full remaining time of their holiday, only to later contact me again requesting a refund - which I can only conclude that this was in fact the objective of the whole exercise from the beginning. As someone who tries very hard to satisfy guests and provide them with the best possible service you will understand how utterly galling this is, especially on this particular occasion when both myself and the cleaning company had already 'gone the extra mile' on behalf of this guest and been left with the impression that they were grateful and satisfied Happy to provide any necessary copies of emails and the report of the cleaning company's visit! How do damage deposits work?
