THE CART LODGE, WiFi, shared outdoor pool, woodburner, quaint cottage in

Nayland house

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“I Stay, I Stay, I Stay!” We totally enjoyed our experience at the lodge. Mrs Gray is very welcoming and had provided breakfast provision in the fridge. The lodge layout is well designed and equiped. We visited the little shops and post office - only down the road. Later we went on to see Melford Hall, which has a connection to Beatrix Potter, but is a lovely property in its own right. We spent a day at Clacton-on-Sea and were surprised how much we loved it - the best vegetarian breakfast (icluded bubble & squeak) was found at one of the cafes along the front. The people were very friendly. Thanks for a great holiday!

“Village near to Southwold” Charming peaceful cottage with churchyard behind, ideally located for travelling into Southwold. Pub literally across the road which happened to have a beer festival on. Excellent local shop in village. Pity there was no outside space/garden facility with the cottage. Otherwise a thoroughly memorable stay.

WILD BRYONY COTTAGE, country holiday cottage, with a garden in Mendlesham

Stowmarket house

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“A lovely little cottage in Suffolk” Wild Bryony Cottage was a delightful cottage in which to stay. It had all that we needed and was well situated to visit all parts of Suffolk. It is in a quiet hamlet but not far from the nearest village and town where there were all the necessary shops and places to eat. All the local places had pubs which provided good food, and the local pub in the nearest village was a friendly place to stop and have something to eat, and served real ales. The local store sold locally baked bread delivered daily. The cottage was very clean with no obvious signs of dogs having stayed there. Fresh flowers were on the table along with a bottle of wine and a welcoming message, and tea and coffee were provided along with fresh milk in the fridge. The kitchen was tiny but had everything necessary for preparing and cooking meals as well as cutlery and plenty of crockery. The one thing I missed was having a dressing table in the bedroom which was spacious so there was room for one. We could hear the neighbours in the bedroom but only faintly, and a dog barked for about 1/2 hr every morning but then settled and was quiet. A place where we would happily return to.

Firstly, our impression was, everything is just as the ads said, and more! There were lovely surprises in many cupboards, the special care and attention made all the difference to our stay from the outset. The location was easy to find and all the people we met were friendly. The accommodation lent itself to whatever the weather, it was up to it. The view from the main bedroom was nothing short of stunning! However, our stay was blessed with fab weather. All in all we look forward to booking again. Although we also want to try other sites, with Sykes of course. Very happy memories!see more

This is a well equipped. Well appointed holiday venue. The thoughtful provision of basic necessities (milk/bread etc) on arrival was appreciated. It is a beautiful area, close to Lewiston which has a large Coop for all your provisions. The owner is very friendly and helpful and I would highly recommend the cottage.see more

Fabulous cottage

So lucky to have found this property for a last minute unplanned booking. The house is beautifully decorated and it turned out we were the first guests! The extensive welcome pack was an unexpected bonus. It is clear the owners have put a great deal of thought and energy into making the most of the space, and everything you could wish for in a holiday home is provided. We did experience one minor problem during our stay, but the owners are easily contactable by phone/email, and responded immediately to resolve the issue. The house sits right by the busy A12, so some road noise was inevitable during the day although as the weather was hot and sunny we kept the windows open most of the time. There is a huge garden which would be great for families with young children and/or dogs as it is very secure on all sides, and there is more than ample space to park. The location for us was perfect, and we were able to explore this lovely part of the Suffolk coast from Orford to Southwold very easily - there are many beaches within a 10 - 20 minute drive. So why only 4 stars? The only slight negatives for us were in respect of the layout of the house. Access to the only bathroom is from the second bedroom which was slightly inconvenient for us, and the narrow spiral staircase is particularly steep. These points are clearly addressed in the description of the property, but are worth considering if you have anyone in your party with mobility problems or very young children. Overall a wonderful find.see more
