Description

This spacious stone barn has four bedrooms (of which one is on the ground floor) being two doubles and two twins. There are two bathrooms; one with a shower cubicle, bidet, toilet etc. on the ground floor and the other with a full size bath and toilet upstairs. It has a large galleried living area with exposed beams, comfortable sofas and chairs and satellite TV. Open plan stairs lead up to the gallery giving access

to three of the four bedrooms.

Down a short flight of stairs from the living area there is a large well equipped kitchen and dining area with tiled worktops, gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and a large American fridge/freezer. The garden which overlooks the village has a terrace with garden furniture and a BBQ

Le Manoir is set-up to cater for families with children.

You & your children can expect to meet families with other children.

We provide a safe secluded environment for them to play in, & they are made to feel very welcome.

Le Manoir attracts an interesting group of families, many with interesting backgrounds. You may find that you wish to share their company.

There is plenty of communal space to meet your fellow guests.

When you stay at Le Manoir you can choose between staying in this relaxing country estate, & enjoying the wild life, & sunshine, or exploring the Dordogne valley.

You will find us on the property. Nancy, my wife, & myself - Peter, have owned Le Manoir for 18 years.

We are here to discuss & suggest places for you to visit, & things you may wish to do.

Getting around

To get here by air Bergerac Airport is our closest airport. Brive is also only an hour away. Bordeaux is 2 hours drive. Limoges is 3 hours away. If you are coming from Ireland do not even think of Rodez! It is a long way away over windy roads! By train: Bergerac is the closest station with car hire available. By car: We are about 8 1/2 hours from Calais. 6 1/2 from St. Malo. Once here, I would suggest that a car is essential.

Interaction with guest

We, - Nancy & Peter, live "on-site" but out of sight. Like Nanny Mcphee,(The children's film), - We are here when you need us. “A delightful property with delightful hosts in a lovely setting”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2013

We were a family of 6 in a comfortable house set, with others in lovely grounds. We enjoyed the conviviality of the other guests in in the complex, friendship being generated by the generous BBQ Peter & Nancy provide every Sunday. The pool facilities were excellent and enjoyed by all of us. W enjoyed the marches nocturnes in the neighbouring villages where the food and wine were excellent. Peter & Nancy were excellent hosts, there when needed but never intrusive. We are looking forward to going again

“Tranquility in the Dordogne Area”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2013

We have been coming to Le Manoir de St Marcel and staying in La Grange, for 6 years now and really like the place. La Grange is one of five converted agricultural buildings all of which are all unique and have lots of character. It is spacious and well equipped as well as offering a rustic feel. There is a lovely pool and two play barns catering for all ages from toddler to youthful old age- our teenagers love the table tennis. We have used it as a base for lots of great activities such as canoeing along the Dordogne river following the fabulous chateaux further west or just visiting the many sites like caves, vineyards and zip wire places or just visiting the interesting towns and chateaux themselves. The hosts Peter and Nancy are very welcoming, help out as much as they can and even put on seasonal tractor rides for the little ones as well as the regular summer BBQ. A daily baguette / pain au chocolat delivery service is on offer and there's a local restaurant if you don't fancy cooking. The local village markets and food festival are great fun, or you feel like nothing just enjoy the peace. We heartily recommend it as see that is frequented by authors and actors alike ( see website ).
