“Life changing experience!”
Please convey my heartfelt thoughts to Wayan and Putri for their exceptional care and love that they showed my Daughter and myself during our stay. I didn't give enough credit when Wayan asked me about my preferences when we switched to staying at the home closer into Ubud. We honestly preferred the Swallowhouse after experiencing the second location because of the comfort of the beds, the fantastic night air, and the incredible culinary delights that Putri graced us with! Being a Master Chef, I have great appreciation for the meals that she provided. Also, being a world traveller, I can't express enough gratitude for the care that Wayan took for our tours and giving us a life changing trip and precious memories that I hope to build upon when we return to Bali. As two very adventurous women traveling alone, he provided all the added information and kept us safe during our entire stay. We feel incredibly honored and blessed to have visited places like the temple ceremony, his son's school, and his home compound and village, along with the authentic crafts and artisan villages that he supports. We loved seeing the "real" Bali and meeting the generations of families who share their generations of knowledge and products for those interested in having that kind of experience. Wayan asked if there were any suggestions that we could give and honestly, there is only one to have greater internet access for both Mac and Pc owners. However, I say that reluctantly, because a huge part of the charm and beauty of the Swallowhouse lies in being able to really unplug and become immersed in the culture and experience of Bali. There will always be travelers who need the upscale comforts but let them go to the big hotels ~ you honestly don't want that kind of person staying with you anyway ~ that comes from my years of working at The Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons! (high maintenance people are not fun!)
“Outrageous exceptional compassionate original Bali”
Suzan, Putri, Wyan and Nyoman are the perfect team to make you the most wonderful holidays! Swallow Guesthouse in the middle of ricefields and opposite the holy mountain you enjoy the meditative and spiritual peaceful energy all around! A splendid wide room with the view to the holy mountain and gorgeous sunrises and sunstes!Every item in the house is thoroughfully picked and tastefully put together which makes you feel cosy in the loving harmony! Putri`s cooking is already worth the trip to Bali Swallow Guesthouse! I miss Wyan`s stories about history and fairytales which we were enjoying so much!
My friend and I stayed at the Swallow guest house in February 2013. The guesthouse is beautifully furnished, situated in a lovely rural setting, surrounded by rice fields. Suzan, Wayan and Putri were fantastic hosts who made sure we got to experience the best of Bali. Putri made truly memorable meals for us, better than any restaurant. We had a truly fantastic vacation and hope to come back soon.
Been to Bali many times but this beats it all,it´s FaB!!! Suzan, the owner, is great and can´t do enough to make you feel at home, fix trips and will def walk the extra mile for you. The location is literally in the rice fields serenaded by the frogs and crickets at night and the ducks is alarm clock in the morning. The house and rooms is absolutely beautiful and every detail is thought through and now to the food, it´s absolutly the best Balinese food I´ve ever had, organic and much from their own garden, thank you Putri!!! So all in all, if you want a special and different vacation stay at Swallow!!! Thank you so much Suzan, I will def come back :-)
“Peaceful and relaxing stay!”
We (my husband and 2 boys aged 5 and 3) stayed at Swallow Guesthouse for a week in Feb 2013, and really enjoyed the views of the rice fields, farmer planting rice, ploughing the fields, and farmers chasing the ducks, and lots more sights of a rural life - cows mooing, roosters crowing (sometimes throughout the day, sometimes in the nights!!!), frogs singing. There is so much "music" at night that I could not really sleep well first night, but its something I missed when back home. We had Wayan drive us around, and my sons adore him! We had Putri cook a delicious meal. The house is awesome, lots of room to run around, a pond terrace with lotus. Do note, must bring super power torch lights, if you come back late from a tour, its pitch dark, with the moon as the main light, you need it to walk the 400 steps path to reach the house. Its just sad that a week stay is short but we alternate between going out and just relaxing at home, cooking simple meals in the kitchen, because you mustn't miss having your meals in the "bale" above the kitchen, a view to take in, 360 degrees of green!
Response from the owner Terima kasih, thank you Bee Lian for a lovely review, with wonderful description of the feelings and sounds at the Swallowhouse. It truely is a unique experience and we are pleased you and your whole family enjoyed. We hope to see you again in the future, Wayan, Putri and Suzan
“Do yourself a favor and consider this place. 100% Recommended!”
This place is truly an excellent one to stay in, close enough to Ubud to be accesible yet far enough away to maintain the peace. I wanted something laid back and quiet to just relax and chill out and that's just what happened. The location is fabulous and the guesthouse is clean, bright and well laid out with everything you need. Wayan, Putri and Made are about as good as it gets as hosts, available when needed yet at no time obtrusive. I love Bali, I love the people and I love this place.
“Peaceful home in the real Bali”
My husband, my kids and I were guests in the Swallow house in august this year. We had an amazing stay there. The house is in the middle of the beautiful rice field and it is one of the most peaceful places that you can find. The house is very clean and it has everything you need. Be ready to experience the real Bali. The house is close to the village where you can walk and it is also about 15 min drive from Ubud. If you are traveling with teenagers, unless they are not into nature... they might get bored there... My 13 year old was fine and loved, however you should onside that. The best thing about the Swallow house is Wayan and Putri - the couple that takes care of the house. Wayan's wisdom and knowledge about everything in Bali is unbelievable. Anything you might need he can find for you - rent a car, driver, mobil phones, food, etc. One of the best things for us was driving around with him as he knows everything and can tell you the most interesting and beautiful stories about Bali, the Balinese people and their rich history and traditions. He should be a travel guide. His wife Putri is the best cook on Earth. She prepared delicious breakfast and dinners for us almost every day. She cooks authentic Balinese and Indonesian food with the most organic ingredients you can find. We love them and we will try to keep in touch with them. I would strongly recommend The Swallow house for people that are looking to experience the real Bali - Bali with no tourist, no noise etc. It was a life changing experience for us to be there and to be around Wayan and Putri and to witness the simplicity and beauty in their relationship and in their life and connection to everything around and nature.
Response from the owner Thank you Tatiana, We are so pleased you and your family had a memorable time at the Swallowhouse. I will pass on your comments to Wayan and Putri - they truly are an amazing couple. Keep in touch - Suzan
It has been two years that I stayed in Swallow Guesthouse and I can't forget this wonderful place! During my stay I was amazed by the charm of the traditional Balinese house. I also enjoyed every days the delicious traditional meals made of fresh vegetables from the garden by Putry, the chef of the house. And some of the best memories I keep from the place are : planting rice next to my room, meeting local people in the small villages around the house, the absolute calm of the place (no neighbors except the ducks), the amazing 360° view on rice fields and the unforgettable sunsets. As you understood I would definitely recommend anybody to stay in Swallow house during its holidays!!!
Response from the owner Luc, it was a real pleasure having you at the Swallowhouse. I'm please I was there to share the rice planting with you - your lines were much straighter than mine!! I still have some of the local fellows asking about you - they were pleased you joined in their activities. We wish you success in your endeavors. Bon Soir!
“The "real" Bali at it's best!”
From the time we arrived at the airport until we departed we were treated with incredible hospitality. Wayan, our driver was very knowledgable and quickly learned what we were interested in seeing and doing for the time we were in Bali. All of our meals were served and cooked at the house and were native dishes. We were even invited to their home and religious services. The house, surrounded by rice in a rural area, was large, comfortable and quiet. We felt like we saw the "real" Bali.
“A paradise among the ricefields”
Highly recommend this place. The service was so personable. The food absolutely delicious. This quiet house is the place to be if you like the real Bali.
