“Our rental was adequate, nothing special”

Reviewed 5 Dec 2012

The Caribbean Soul cottage was just ok. It was nice that it had a clean kitchen but if you are thinking of staying here make sure you bring a bottle of Fabreese. The first thing I noticed was the smell, that was disappointing. It didn't smell clean and fresh. The second thing I saw was the giant stains on the carpet. Why they don't have tiled floors, I don't know. I wanted to open the windows to air it out but the windows were hard to get open and they were old and filthy dirty with dead bugs and spider webs all over. It sounds like I am OCD but I sorta expect a nice place to stay that is decently clean. My bed was crunchy because they had put one of those waterproof mattress pads so whenever we moved it was loud. Lol all in all it was a pretty good deal for the money. If you like it rustic you will be ok. I must say the pool area was really nice and huge! Plenty of shade and chairs, pool was crystal clear! Next time we will try a condo on the beach.

Response from the manager Thanks for the feedback. Following this rental the home owner is having all of the flooring replaced. Kindest Regards, JD Hallam PKRM Rental Manager

We loved our stay at The Purple Parrot. The condo was clean, spacious and the full kitchen was a big plus. My 3 children loved the pools byt the indoor heated one was their favorite & mine also. We will for sure be going back. Love it...

Our stay at Carribean Soul was a nice one. I was especially happy with the location of Carribean Soul. It was in the back of the resort and was quiet and peaceful. We loved watching the birds in the courtyard. The condo was fairly clean, however, there were 2 big dead roaches in the kitchen when we arrived and there were also small ones in the upstairs bedroom. They did not have a curtain on one of the living room doors and I informed the office, but no one ever came to fix that. Also, if you decide to stay there...Please read the rental policy. You cannot bring any outside food or drink to the pool area because of the Tiki Bar and Grill. Our first day there, we were stopped at the gate and told that we could not bring anything in. I had a bottle of water and had to throw it away because I was not allowed to bring it in. We felt like we were constantly being watched. With that being said, overall, we had a nice week and we felt it was worth the money spent (which was way less than most condos we checked into). We would stay there again.

Let me first say that The Purple Parrot is a great place to stay. Jd and the crew are great to work with, friendly, and above average for customer service. The Purple Parrot is not on the beach, but it is extrememly close. I suggest Johnson's Beach or Perdido State Park, which are just a minute or two down the road. There are also several great places to eat within a mile or two. There isn't much shopping, but who needs that when you've got the beach (Pensacola is close enough, you can drive there to shop) The Purple Parrot is a terrific value. Now my opinion of 40C. The location is great because you are steps from the pool, but far enough away that you don't get the noise (if any). I thought the kitchen was stocked ok. They could add a few items, but all in all it got the job done. My only complaint about 40C was the queen bed in the master. It was very stiff and I ended up sleeping in the kid's beds many of the nights. I would highly suggest the owners get a new mattress. Other than that, it was nice. We have stayed in several other condos at the Purple Parrot and while I might like their decor better and they might be a little better stocked in the kitchen, I do like the location of 40C the best.

“Best condo vacation ever!”

We were absolutely thrilled with our condo! It was beautifully furnished and very spacious. The location was superb (we were as far away from the pool and the evening club noise as we could). The small cluster of homes was very cozy and picturesque. We had a wonderful view of the channel from the second upstairs bedroom, and the balcony and front porch were perfect for mornings and evenings. We drove to the beaches, although the walk wouldn't have been that far. The pool was spectacular and so much fun! There is an awesome exercise facility, although we did not use it, and a great indoor pool and whirlpool as well. The location is the very best, close to everything, and only about 15 minutes from Wal Mart where we could stock up on groceries and anything we needed. Beware of snakes! We came across a snake on the small footbridge between the parking space and our condo, and although we looked at it and took pictures of it, we later discovered it was a venomous water moccasin! They are seen from time to time on the property. We found the restaurants on the Key a bit pricey, but wonderful. Our favorite was Lambert's Cafe in Foley, AL, a mere 30 min drive. Breakfast at Waffle House is a must (one just across the bridge, or our favorite, right on the alabama state line on Perdido). The beaches are pristine, and be on the lookout for the most fabulous dolphin display you can imagine! Lots of them, and at lots of different times. Definitely try to go see the Blue angels practice. It's Tues and Wed mornings, and it's free, as well as the museum which is worth the trip (15 minutes). There's also a cool lighthouse by the base. This condo will be forever remembered as one of our very favorite vacations! If we ever return to Pensacola, we will definitely stay there!

“We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable, attractive condo.”

We spent six weeks at Carribbean Soul in January and February. Although it was an unusually cold Winter season, we were very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped for meal preparations. The screened in porch has comfortable seating. The upstairs porch has rocking chairs. We were well treated by the staff, who responded quickly and positively to anything needing attention. We very much enjoyed the indoor heated pool and hot tub, and the excercise room that was closeby. A good value all in all.

We(me, a single mom and another couple) were traveling to Pensacola to take our daughters to Pensacola Christian College. We needed an alternative to a hotel as we were two families desiring a more private bed and bath set up. We were planning to stay for several days to get our daughters settled in and enjoy the Pensacola Beach area. Were were pleasantly surprised upon arriving at the resort. I had contacted JD, the resort manager, on our drive down from SC to inform him of our late arrival. He assured me that it was no problem and gave me all I needed to access the resort and the condo after hours. When we walked in the condo, "Caribean Soul" was more than we expected! The decor was just as in the pictures. It was quite luxurious and inviting. We were impressed with the ammenities and upkeep of the condo. It was like home away from home. We spent four days in complete comfort! While we were on the go most the time and ate most meals away, it was nice to come "home" to prepare a final Sunday meal to enjoy with our girls in the fully equipped kitchen. We even baked goodies to leave with them on our last night there. The owners had also provided a pass to Johnson Beach for renters to use and we did! The gulf waters were beautiful and only 5 minutes away! All this for LESS than a 5 star hotel per night! The short drive into Pensacola was worth the stay at the Purple Parrot. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks to JD and his staff for making our stay in "Caribean Soul" a pleasure. We will recommend this resort and specifically "Caribean Soul" to other families we know traveling to the Pensacola area.
