This very pleasant, breezy, self-catering duplex beach front apartment (1200 sq. ft./113 sq. m) faces the white, sandy Heywoods Beach on the exclusive West Coast of Barbados. The location is just north of Speightstown, in easy walking distance to the amenities (supermarkets, shops, bars, restaurants, banks, bus station). A rental car is therefore not necessary. This is not the case for many other apartments in Barbados!

The breezy apartment is separated from the beach by a small road with local traffic only. The accommodation harmoniously blends contemporary with some antique mahogany furniture. This is an ideal place to unwind in Caribbean atmosphere, a romantic getaway for couples, but also very well suited for a family holiday. The apartment is fully self-contained. Gated parking included.

BEDROOMS: (1) with queen size bed, upstairs; (2) with two twin beds, downstairs. One sofa bed for two in the living room upstairs. The blinds darken each of the two bedrooms strongly.

BATHROOMS: (1) Modern ensuite bathroom upstairs with shower, wash basin, toilet, having also direct access from the living room. (2) "Half bathroom" (toilet + wash basin) next to sleeping room downstairs.

GROUND FLOOR: large, modern Italian kitchen where 4-6 can dine. It contains oven, microwave, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, ice-maker, coffee machine, toaster, kettle. Nice bedroom with two single beds, AC, ceiling fan, two windows, mosquito nets. Toilet plus wash basin next to sleeping room. Small patio with large door to the kitchen: seating for 2-3, sun umbrella, outside shower to rinse after the bath.

UPPER FLOOR: pleasant master bedroom with queen size bed, AC, ceiling fan, window, mosquito net. Ensuite bathroom with additional door to living room. Comfortable seating for six to eight in the living room, equipped with Smart TV, DVD, Internet router (glass fibre WiFi plus cable connection), music dock, sofa bed for two, ceiling fan. The unhurried, relaxing atmosphere continues to the covered, large balcony in front, where 4 persons can dine. This is an ideal place for dining al fresco and sun bathing (two sun beds). A large sun shade protects you from too much sun. From the balcony you have direct view of the azure Caribbean sea looking southwest and northwest; in between is a house obstructing a small part of the view.

Getting around

Our apartment is close to Speightstown. The bus terminal is in 3 mins walking distance, you can reach most places on the island cheaply by bus. A rental car is convenient of course, but not really necessary. If you want to rent: we recommend Stoute's car rental, our guests get a discount. Please ask us for details. The beautiful rugged East Coast (e.g. Bathsheba), famous among surfers, with its breathtaking views, is only half an hour drive away. The apt. is close to the golf courses of Royal Westmoreland (10 mins. by car), Sandy Lane (20 mins.). Pulsating Holetown is only 15 mins. away. Bridgetown about 30 mins, all easily reached by bus along the coast. When you book you will get detailed info on places to visit.

Interaction with guest

During your stay we will be most likely not on the island, if we are not staying in the other apartment we own in the White Sands condo. Our caretaker Sonjia is always available. She will clean twice a week and change the bed linen weekly. If there is a problem in the building she cannot solve, please contact the Facilities Manager of the agency, Chesterton's management. After booking, we will provide the names, all contact telephone numbers and email addresses.

Treat the apartment as if it would be your own! Please safe energy: electricity is very expensive in Barbados, and most consumption comes from AC. The rental fee you paid incorporates only a modest use of AC. Use the fans instead!

If you arrive after 8 p.m., please pay our housekeeper 30 US $, because of her overtime.
If you arrive after 11 p.m., please pay 50 US $ to the housekeeper.

The beach opposite the apartment is first sandy, then rocky, but a few metres further out this coral rock passes to a nice living reef. Thank you for staying!

There are coral rocks in many places, but the beach is really private. Walking down Sand Street to the north, one reaches the much more sandy southern part of Heywoods beach at the Almond beach resort, and the beach gets even better toowards the north (Port Saint Charles).
