Description
Villa Talia Vashti is a fully serviced laid back family villa situated on the South-Eastern shore of Bali, It is located in the traditional village of Mendira near Candidasa. Villa Talia Vashti's location is stunning and there is a large raised un-fenced man-made beach for you to enjoy at the villa whilst the tide is in. There is also some amazing snorkeling available just a few meters in front of the villa. There is a quiet little white-sand beach just a pleasant 5 minute stroll through Mendira, where there is also a nice selection of bars and restaurants, great for watching the kids play while you take in the sunset.
The property is a lovely open and beautifully designed home - where the outside is dramatically present right in the heart of the property. Although not as large as the more ostentatious villas next door, the 3 pavilion design gives all the rooms this remarkable feeling, and the lovely planning of the villa means the feel of the natural surroundings are always close. Entry to the villa takes you along a flagstone walkway, raised above a super fish pond, which runs between two pavilions. These house a lovely double room on the right and an equally gorgeous twin room to the left. The superb master bedroom occupies the whole of the upstairs floor above the lounge.
The villa comfortably sleeps 6 adults (plus two youngsters) in three suites, each with its own en-suite bathroom and great views out over the ocean to Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida. The living area has floor-to-ceiling windows that are able to be folded back to give full access to the crystal clear pool terrace with its fresh water pool and bar area [there is also a children splash pool]. The warm tropical sea is just a few steps from the villa, and with a protective coral reef just offshore it is ideal for both swimming and snorkeling.
We access the beach by a short walk through the lovely traditional village of Mendira; it takes just 5 minutes to make the walk, or alternatively it is about a 150m swim or snorkel. Our chef will provide you with delicious meals cooked to the highest quality and at a price on par with local restaurants, but with a higher degree of quality. There are oceanfront restaurants which are an easy walk away and provide a nice social atmosphere. There are also many to choose from just a few minutes drive away and taxis are very cheap and efficient and motorcycle hire is available if you are comfortable riding. We offer babysitting if adults wish to have an evening out [a small gratuity for babysitting after 7pm is appreciated].
Around the villa there are loads of things to do. For culture buffs the fascinating Bali Aga walled village of Tenganan is just 3km away. Candidasa Temple, and the Goa Lawah bat temple are a short drive away, and the water palaces at Tirta Gangga, the royal palace at Klungkung and the Balinese mother temple Besakih are all an easy drive away. For the kids there is obviously all the temple ceremonies, and farm animals, but other more modern attractions are close by including Bali Safari and Marine Park (30 mins); Submarine Rides (15 mins); Elephant Trekking (40 mins).

There is an un-fenced drop of 2 meters down to the sea at the front of the villa. We have many guests with small children and the staff are always there to help guests watching other the children. We feel the risk is minimal, but we do like to let guests know this in advance in case it is a concern.

Response from the manager We will always try our best, however it is very difficult to have sympathy for guests that 1) Do not read the description of the villa whatsoever, that clearly states that there is a seawall and raised beach at the villa and 2) Do not inform us at all in advance that their group includes a severely autistic child that in the hour they were at the villa managed to a) Take rubbish out of the bin and put it in the fridge; b) Run away and hide, prompting a frantic search by all staff and the guests before being found safely upstairs c) Run around and jump on the furniture unable to be controlled by the parents. Our villa was ready and waiting and exactly as described in our listing. These guests booked for a high season week that we could have filled several times over. We have had literally hundreds of families with small children stay with us, with no problems at all. We have even had guests with autistic children stay, but the guests advised us in advance and so we were able put in place special measures with our staff to help them. These guests gave us zero chance to do this. Despite the cancellation policy not entitling any refund at the late stage the guests cancelled, we still offered to move these guests to another villa (with physical child barriers) for no additional cost, or to refund 50% of the amount paid to the guests. Both of these offers were angrily rejected by the guests. The guests then threatened to publish damaging reviews online unless they received a full 100% refund. We refuse to give in to blackmailers, and so you will find similar reviews by these guests now all over the internet. Despite the difficulties with these guests we still processed and paid a 50% refund to these guests - not because we had to, but because we felt it was the right thing to do. For a true review of our villa we would ask that other guests look at the reviews for our lovely villa both before and after this review. It is clearly upsetting when things go wrong like this - both for the guests and for ourselves. We just wish these guests had been more honest when booking the villa as all of these difficulties could so easily have been avoided if they had.
