“This was a very cozy place to stay during a very cold winter bre”
What a lovely, and welcoming home this was for our first experience with trip advisor. The home was immediately welcoming, and my daughter envisioned this home as the future home she would create for herself, right down to the Dvd's, music Cd's, and the games and books generously placed around the family room. The directory of local things to see and do was a great aid to us in our activity planning. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need, and the bedrooms had plenty of space for our items, and robes of every size to snuggle up in after our very cold days of skiing. The owners were a delight to work with, and were easily reached when needed for questions. We would love to return during the summer season so we could appreciate all that the lake has to offer.
“Visually appealing and comfortable”
There was plenty of entertainment in the form of Dvds, games and books. Nice and clean: kitchen, bedroom, bathrooms. Beautiful views from living room, dining room, kitchen and master bedroom. Even being inside we enjoyed the views. Welcome letter was very helpful. Lots of interesting things to do in the area. Mattress in master bedroom was comfortable. I have fibromyalgia and this was a concern.
“Lovely stay after dry australia”
I spent 4 wonderful days at this house over the 4th of July weekend in 2007 having just come from australia. We are experiencing a 6 year drought in australia and I was struck by how green the grass in the back yard that sweeps down to the lakes edge. We also have a fire ban active most of the time in australia, and I really enjoyed the fire ring in the back yard where we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows on a warm summer evening. I made a cherry pie and a blueberry pie while I was there in their well equipped kitchen. I was able to buy fresh/frozen berries and cherries at the store within walking distance (for you foodies reading this). The kitchen/living room has a nice layout in that the person cooking is not isolated from the fun happenings in the living room. The living room has lots of natural light and 2 sets of sliding doors that open onto a deck that looks out over the lake. We fished and took a 3 hour canoe ride up to one of the chain of lakes nearby leaving from the dock in front of the house. My daughter was 1 year old at the time and I remember there being a small sandy beach where she played. There was also a hammock that was close to the water under trees that provided some shade. Nice for reading. There was a nice mix of sun and shade near the lake (for those of us who have been burnt a few times too many). We lit the 2 oil lamps in the living room that set off a lovely warm glow one evening as we ate dinner. We walked into town and looked around. There were a few historic buildings that looked interesting although I didn't have time to investigate. There was a nice 4th of July celebration with a big chicken dinner and ice cream social. I look forward to going again.
“Hanley Lake Gem”
We have stayed at this little gem on Hanley lake and absolutely love it. The owner has put a lot of time into addressing any need for comfort or amenties we may have. Very clean cottage, awesome lake view and frontage. We stay here in the summer as well as the winter for it's proximity to great restaruants, nice little towns and the ski areas. We would highly recommend it.
“A little piece of paradise.”
We can't wait to go back. The lake was quite and beautiful. The house was immaculate and modern, wood floors, comfy living room, full kitchen. We had kayaks, a canoe, a row boat, fire pits. Our creature comfort needs were anticipated and provided for For the kids, bunk beds, x-box, videos, board games, books, anything they need for a rainy day. If you forgot anything, a toothbrush, shampoo, flashlight, even oatmeal or ketchup, it was there! No roughing it here. The kids favorite parts were the bunk beds, the x-box and the frogs! I loved the coziness of a clean and airy home, and settling into the quite panoramic view of the lake, steam rising off the water, cradling a hot cup of coffee in the morning. Ahhh!
“A runner's and biker's paradise”
I've stayed at this cottage several times. What I like about the house are all the amenities, how light it is inside, the great deck, and the lake being right there. As a runner, and a biker, there are some great runs and rides--be prepared for some long hills. Laurie has prepared a comprehesive book full of information about the area and the surrounding towns. Don't worry about rain, the house is cozy, or if you go out, there's lot to do nearby.
“Epic Up North”
This comfortable hideaway is in the ideal location for those seeking solitude with the option to explore and experience all of the things that make northern Michigan unique. It has something to offer everyone in every season. Biking, skiing, hiking, boating, kyaking, snowmobile trails, scenic byways, historical landmarks, shopping and arguably one of Michigan's finest breweries, all right there. Things to see: Torch Lake, Jordan River Valley, Short's Brewery, Boyne City and Mountain, Traverse City. Not to mention, the house is clean, has comfortable beds, lot's of windows, privacy, and a great library of Dvds.
“Lovely cottage with fun winter sports nearby”
Our winter stay last year at this lovely cottage was fun and relaxing. It was kid-friendly which was big plus for us. Since we like outdoor sports, we found our way to nearby cross-country skiing. A trip to Barnes County Park on Lake Michigan was a delight for our children with frozen waves and the chance to slide down hills. We will definitely be back in the summer!
“Terrific house on a lovely lake”
I have spent a few days here and it is a very nice house and the lake is great too. House had all kitchen stuff we needed. Nice surrounding area too.
