Description

We call it the Mango Loft because it is second floor and surrounded by blooming banana and mango trees, offering shade and fresh fruit. The Mango Loft is brand new, completed in 2014 with solar hot water, new appliances including gas stove, convection and microwave ovens and full size fridge. A cork floor, bamboo furniture and large screened windows keeps it close to nature and sustainable. It has front and back locking doors, gated parking, and a couple of outside landscaped patios for your enjoyment. Pots & pans, dishes, all utensils are stocked plus linens and towels.

The Chirripo River flows just a stone's throw away providing lots of cool breezes as well as meditative water flow 24/7. RIver access is just outside our gate... enjoy swimming, wading, rock collecting, soaking up the energy of the big ancient boulders in the river bed. From your kitchen window you have a view of Mt. Chirripo, the highest peak in Costa Rica. The property is approximately 3000 feet in altitude on the road that connects Rivas with San Gerardo in Perez Zeledon (southern zone.) A five minute walk across the river bridge takes you to well stocked pulperia and bus stop to the city district of San Isidro or to San Gerardo. The cabin is about a 20 minute drive from the city of San Isidro del General. Another 30 minute drive to Aguas Thermales (Hot Springs Mineral Pool) and the Chirripo National Park. Kayaking in April, May, November and December. Dominical beach, great for surfing and sunsets, is a little over an hour's drive.

If you enjoy being close to nature, love the sound of a robust river flowing, prefer living in natural and sustainable construction, the Mango Loft is for you. Another advantage is accessibility by bus... no car is necessary. Staples are available at the pulperia and you can request meals cooked by your neighbor if you want typical Costa Rican cooking. You can get anywhere by bus with just a five minute easy walk across the river bridge to the the bus stop. The Mango Loft is safe; there is no crime in our little community of San Francisco de Rivas. Warning: you will hear motorcycles as the villagers go to and from work and school, between 6:30 and 7:30 am and again 5 to 7 pm.

House rules

No pets allowed on property other than the cat who lives here, Tigre. Please discourage stray dogs from wandering inside the gate. We do only what is legal and good for our neighbors. Leave the casita and grounds as you found them, Cleaning ladies need to clean your casita weekly or bi-weekly, which is included in your fee. Separate trash and organics. The community appreciates quiet after 9 pm.
