Lattice House-Bali modern, private nature reserve

Dominical villa

  • 4 bedrooms
  • 3 bathrooms
  • sleeps 10

“Wow! Complete paradise! Can't wait to go back again... and again” This was our second time to the Lattice House and it was even more spectacular than the first time. Besides the house and property being absolutely gorgeous, the people are amazing (especially the house host, Ana!) and the wildlife and nature is second to none. Wether staying at the house or going on excursions, I can't imagine anyone not enjoying and living up every second. This time, the "lawn" and surrounding area was cleared out more and trails were marked. We headed down to the waterfall but beware, it is a little bit of a hike but completely worth it! We picked fruit from the orchard for fruit bowls for breakfast and spent as much time as we could in the infinity pool. Highly recommend waking up early with the howler monkeys in the morning. The animals are super active at this time and we even saw a family of wild boars on property. So awesome. Ana, the house host was the best. She was always readily accessible and answered all our questions and gave us the best recommendations. This is the best vacation we have ever been on (twice!) and can't wait to go back next year.

“waouw” As we were entering the house, an armadillo came to welcome us. And we were told that we had just missed a whale swimming in the bay. Atmosphere was set up. Great secluded house. Amazing views and beach. Perfect for contemplation. Very good value for money.

“Paradise...check” My family found paradise ...Playa Hermosa. A very quaint town not overly run with tourist attractions. This condo was amazing. It was clean and comfortable with many fantastic amenities. We grilled out during a big football game here in the states. We swam laps and splashed around in the clean and quiet pool just feet from the condo. We were able to capture beautiful sunsets from the second floor balcony. The property staff also gave us limes and bananas picked on site that morning. A few step from the condo gets you to the ocean where the waves are crashing and the monkeys are playing over head. The on-site managers were friendly, kind, and very helpful suggesting things to do and see. The area was very safe. We all agreed we will return!

“Absolutely amazing!” There was nothing we didn't love about this vacation! The condo was spacious, clean and had all the creature comforts of home. Wifi is always a huge plus when traveling out of the states and makes things so much easier for us to keep up with. The view is absolutely breathtaking. We enjoyed massages on the patio not once but twice as it was so beautiful and the massage was so fantastic that we couldn't help ourselves! It is conveniently located and we easily traveled around to different beaches. We saw monkey's everyday on the way in to the complex, such a neat experience. The beach club is conveniently located right next to Father Roosters which quickly became our favorite hang out spot (Try a mint margarita! it's a must!) I would recommend this vacation rental for anyone looking to relax and enjoy the view or head out for adventures and come home to a safe, secure and clean place.

A Jungle-Beach Tree-House In Cahuita

Cahuita house

  • 2 bedrooms

“Amazing experience!” We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Actually sleeping in a tree, wow! But with all the comforts. It made for a special expereince that my husband and daughter enjoyed as much as I. Waking up in the morning the the sound of howler monkeys and a sloth actually came and visited us, as he or she was passing through the trees. Its very close to the beach, a 2 minute walk at tops. There were 2 great restaurants around the corner, on the beach. Good local food like coconut chicken. With bicicyles we road into the village of Cahuita to visit the National Park and do a little shopping. There are 2 mini supermarkets with everything you need, a bank and a drugstore, plus lots of little artisnal shops. We had a great time and can recommend this place absolutely, a must, if you are looking for a tree house experience!

“Exhilarating” The property manager, Alex, met us at the airport and took us to the home, carried our luggage in and made sure we were comfortable. The house is beautiful, with a spacious deck and dipping pool, surrounded by the natural beauty (sights and sounds) of the jungle. We felt very safe because of the 24-hour security guard at the gate. The "wildlife", however, gave us a few starts! Once we got used to the Jurassic Park sized insects and bullfrogs, we settled in and were very happy. We were close to Dominical beach and not too far from Manuel antonio Park to visit daily. We loved the zipline experience the best. This is a great place to stay if you want to be secluded from the entire world, and yet close enough to go visit places. I would recommend it for those who love nature, or just want to be away from it all!

“Paradise” We stayed in the 2 floor cabin with two bedrooms with our son's family and had a wonderful week! The hosts (Eladio and Vanessa)and staff make you feel like family! The gracias hostess brought out toys for the grandchildren and sent fruit from their trees for us to enjoy! We loved the pool which is very clean and does not have the bleach smell. As they talked with us by the pool we learned more of Guanacaste. The birds were absolutely beautiful. We saw: White-ringed Fly Catcher, humming birds, green parrots, Blue Crowned Motmot (which is usually only down in Cabo Blanco), Morning Doves, a Baltimore Orial, Blue Grey Tanger, and Bronze head Black Bird. We went to the Volcano (Vieja)one day but it was closed due to activity. So we walked down the the nearby falls. Absolutely gorgeous. Wear your bathing suit! Another day we went to a beach near Nicaragua but the water there was too cold due to the Humbult current - like the Gulf stream up North that warms the water, this stream cools the water. I recommend Colebra! It is only 30 minutes away and absolutely beautiful. Bring your bug spray though. Only the mattresses will make you want to go home. They were a little hard, but normal for the area.

“Beautiful home in lovely setting.” This home had all the amenities to make our family comfortable. We loved sitting on the patio in the morning watching hummingbirds and listening to howler monkeys in the distance. The extensive DVD collection was a hit with our kids during some of our down time. The location near the town of Nuevo arenal was nice for short trips to the grocery store and many restaurants.

About Costa Rica

Costa Rica calls to mind cloud forests, toucans, white sand beaches, and palm trees. Many visitors receive their first impressions of this ecotourism destination point from the colorful wildlife and mangrove trees of Manuel Antonio National Park. Whether you spend your vacation hiking through the cloud forest, exploring volcanoes, or surfing on Costa Rica's perfect blue waves, you'll never forget your visit to this protected paradise. The wildlife spotting alone will challenge your imagination. Just a few of the cast of characters you may encounter here include humpback whales, Baird's tapirs, howler monkeys, jaguars, leatherback sea turtles, and brilliantly colored macaws. While you are here, sample the delicious sweet churros of San Jose, relax on the beach, or go rafting, rappelling, and zip-lining through the rainforest canopy. Whether you stay in a cabin rental near Montezuma or a luxury beachfront villa near the Playa Jaco, you'll never run out of breathtaking experiences in Costa Rica.

Here are a few additional suggestions of things to do in Costa Rica:

  • Mountain biking: The variety of off-road paths and cattle trails around Costa Rica makes this an ideal spot for mountain biking.
  • Surfing: If you're serious about surfing, you may want to find a vacation rental close to Tamarindo Beach, famous for great surfing.
  • La Paz Waterfall Garden: Just a short trip from San Jose, the Waterfall Garden is not to be missed.
  • Sloth Sanctuary: Meet rescued sloths and learn about these extraordinary animals while observing them in their natural habitat.
  • Tour a coffee plantation: Find out more about this miracle bean from the coffee growers who understand it best.

No matter what time of you year you visit, the weather in Costa Rica is beautiful. Luckily, vacation rentals are widely available through the year in Costa Rica. Don't forget to bring your camera and your sense of adventure.

Apartamentos Veranera
Next door to the ocean at Playa Grande Guanacaste Costa Rica.

The comfort of two bedrooms with private entrance in this gated yard is in a very short walk to the beautiful beach at Playa Grande, Returning to this area I would revisit and rent any time. We enjoyed the clean and well maintained accommodation with the private parking on the front, where the nice yard and garden invited and complimented our stay. With in walking distance from amenities we had a pleasant time staying there.see more
Beachfront villa with pool, great for groups, vacation together safely!
Incredible property and hosts

I rented the villas during my birthday weekend and loved the property! It’s beautifully designed and has all the bells and whistles! The open air concept is ideal for social gatherings- the kitchen was well equipped for the seafood Rondon we made on my birthday. I love the pool in the center of the villas, the water was perfect and I spent hours lounging on the nearby hammocks. Each villa had refrigerators, microwaves and cold filtered water for convenience. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms are exceptional!! The stone showers and sunken tub was awesome,…. so romantic and pretty! Hot water and great pressure throughout. The best part was the proximity to the secluded beach, 100m away!! The beach was incredible. All sand and shallow water, perfect for morning swims or lazy afternoons. At night you can see all the stars! Overall, I give this place a 8/10. The hosts are very attentive and always around to provide assistance. The one thing I would’ve liked is a bit more privacy. The hosts live right next door and they come in and out of the property. With all the open spaces it’s hard to sun bathe etc.see more
Villa Cabu. Tropical new house with pool
Lovely, modern villa

We loved everything about Villa Cabu! The pool was beautiful and maintained every day. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped, the bedrooms had good fans, and everything was beautifully decorated. The beach was a bit more of a walk than we expected (and not super easy with strollers in tow), but it was a super short drive to easy beach access in all directions. The hosts were so helpful and responsive, and we really appreciated the visit from the housekeeper mid-trip. We would absolutely stay here again!see more
Ocean-front beach house, shade decks,Corcovado Sunsets, wildlife/kayaks/private.
Better than promised, better than the pictures

When we turned into the gate for this property, we thought maybe there was some mistake. Surely this long avenue of stately palms in a beautifully tended, multi-acre botanical paradise couldn't be the back yard of the simple beach house we thought we had rented? But it was! And the beach in front -- gorgeous, wild, empty, far more than we'd ever expected. The house itself is also undersold--the upstairs lanai, the nice design for front-to-back breezes through the two upstairs bedrooms--lots of pleasant surprises. And let's not forget gregarious Beto and his shy but warm wife Yolanda, the caretakers. They did not intrude, but worked behind the scenes to make sure the trails on the property were perfectly raked, the dinners we had arranged with them beautifully presented. Wildlife on the property itself is pretty darn good: coatis, really entertaining troupes of monkeys, macaws, etc. Helene, the owner, is extremely responsive to any questions or needs. A few comments based on prior reviews: (1) The beach IS swimmable and is a delight if you go in only at low tide and wallow between the first and second breaks. Some beach savvy is a plus. (2) In dry season, the road from Puerto Jimenez is really not too bad. It took us a little over an hour. But you do need 4WD (or a taxi) (3) La Luna Lodge, up a super fun/rough 4WD road beyond the Carate airstrip, is a welcoming lunch destination. (4) Your own private stretch of beach is great for endless walks, but even better is the day walk into the park, for which you need a guide. The park opens at 5 am, and we would suggest figuring out a way for your guide to go in with you right at dawn, to get the magical early light, cooler air, and wildlife. The house does require careful planning to be sure you have the right food to last your stay, since you probably won't want to be driving back to PJ for that one forgotten ingredient. In that regard, know that there is excellent freezer capacity but only limited refrigeration capacity (~1 cubic foot). Things like milk should be brought in UHT or powdered form, to keep from using up the fridge area.see more
Generous and neat home with pool and garden
Great house and location

My family and I had a great time at Casa Mandalay. The house was located in a great spot close to town. We rented a car, but found you could get away without one. The house was clean and well equipped. Our kids loved how you could get to You Tube and Netflix on the TV! The yard is big enough to enjoy the pool and have room for the kids to run around. Also, it is very private. My only complaint would be about the 2 lounge chairs outside. Both are broken and have been sort of fixed with rope. A couple new chairs would have been best as the current ones are ready to go. The covered outdoor area was perfect. Lots of space to get out of the sun and to enjoy meals. No need to eat inside. This was our third year staying in Atenas as we love the climate, town and people. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. We would recommend Casa Mandalay and would definitely stay there again.see more
