“Great place to stay in Roatan !!!” What else can I say; great people, great location, great beach & reef, great accommodations at a great price and I even had great weather. My wife and I have visited Roatan often and this is our first choice on the island. From this location you can easily catch a water taxi and go anywhere you want to shop, dive, eat any meal or, just stay in and relax and cook your own. When we are there they make us feel like family. I really like the freedom this place offers and I think Paul and Tommy are on the right track at Turtle Beach. Enjoy !!! Dewey & Deb

“Beautiful house, perfect location, good times” Oct 21 at 5:13 PM This rental was absolutely perfect in every way. We liked the fact that it was just a little bit off of the main drag, but still had the most awesome view of the ocean. The decor was very unique and tropical, and we loved cooking our meals in the kitchen every day. Most of our mornings started with coffee/tea and breakfast out on the veranda, watching as the birds floated by and the ocean sparkled. We went in October, 2013, and I had been a little bit nervous about going during rainy season. Instead, we got beautiful showers, leaving dramatic rainbows in the sky and cooler temperatures. This was definitely our home away from home, and we will return. This was less expensive, much bigger, allowed us to cook our meals, and this was definitely our home away from home. We will return!

Ceiba Tree Lodge, jungle eco resort in Pico Bonito

La Ceiba house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“An Inspiring Four Days in a Beautiful Jungle Paradise” We just returned from two and half weeks in Honduras in august 2010. We spent four invigorating days in the Cangrejal River Lodge (Villas Pico Bonito). We had only planned on staying three days but couldn't pry ourselves away! Richard and his wife anna built the place and their love for it comes through in every detail. We opted to stay in the Ceiba Tree Lodge and would heartily recommend it. It is a masterpiece. It's like living in a comfortable tree house surrounded by the sights and sounds of the jungle but with all the comforts of home. We fell in love with the place immediately! The Ceiba Tree and the other lodges are scattered around a compound that is a botanical garden of tropical trees and flowers. There is also a crystal clear infinity pool set above the river and the rainforest beyond. We spent ample time in the pool as well as in the warm Rio Cangrejal flowing by below. After relaxing by the pool on our first day we hiked to the El Bejuco Waterfall and soaked in the spray of the sixty meter falls. The entrance to the trail is over a suspension bridge a short walk from the lodge. The next day we went rafting on the Rio Cangrejal, a trip that Richard helped us organize. That was a thrilling and beautiful ride that also included some cliff jumping. On our last full day we rode the local bus to a small town called Las Mangas and set off on another hike to the village of La Muralla and some fabulous swimming holes. Richard and anna are friendly and helpful hosts. Richard arranged transport for us from the Roatan ferry to his place and back to La Ceiba for our bus connection. We never missed not having our own transportation. Richard will offer advice or will help arrange adventures in the area, or you may just wish to stay close to the pool and soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful place.

Utila Dreamer Beach House

Utila house

“Unspoiled paradise!” If you love the Caribbean, but hate the crowds, this is the place for you. It's a little harder to get to and lacks some of the creature comforts of the big resorts, but the trade off is well worth it. Lynn is really helpful in planning your itinerary. The house is clean, roomy, comfortable, well equipped and literally feet from the water. You can kayak to several uninhabited islands and the charming Utila Cays. There's an awesome coral reef for snorkeling right in front of the house and miles of gorgeous shoreline to meander along. We'll definitely be back!

“A week in paradise” We recently visited roatan the first week of march and boy did we have a good time. The house is absolutely gorgeous with an awesome pool area too. The yards and pool area are very well maintained by the grounds keeper. The house is divided in many different areas so each could have their private own space and there was enough space in the main house for us to all be together too. Everything in the property was in order and liz from roatan rentals was very helpful. I do recommend using the pickup service they provide as some people of our group had trouble finding the house with regular taxis. The house is very well located with easy access to west end with a short 2 min taxi ride( wich cost 1-2 bucks each way). I highly recommend this to anyone who's thinking of visiting roatan with a large group. J-P

Penthouse At Harbor House -Waterfront Ocean Views

Utila apartment

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Honduran adventure and Restful Times” Victoria and Henry Karpinski were amazing hosts. The accommodations in the penthouse were actually...breathtaking. Everything inside was clean, orderly and practical to just live and relax. The views were incredible and beautiful blue, green, and coral colored water views from every window and decks! The restaurant one story below was so convenient to grab a meal or snack then come back upstairs and relax. The kayaks and snorkeling equipment you can use while staying with Henry & Victoria are a fantastic way to get out and do some adventure time. The sea life is incredible and taking the kayak a short distance will take you to deserted sandy beaches. Thank you Victoria and Henry for a fabulous vacation! I will be sure to tell my friends and family to come visit! Mariners Landing, a short ride across the sea was terrific and would love to help find some buyers for your beach front properties. Henry's construction work was top-notch and your design work on layout and decorating was fabulous! Keep up the good work...

About Honduras

The surroundings of Honduras feature a lush landscape that includes mountains, low plains, rainforests, and cloud forests. The Bay Islands and the cities of La Ceiba, San Pedro Sula, and Tegucigalpa are the main points of entry. Copan, a Mayan city, is a big draw for history buffs as it features an acropolis, a ball court, and a hieroglyphic stairway. These Honduras ruins have also been designated an UNESCO World Heritage site. Nature lovers should head to the Cusuco National Cloud Forest Park, home to quetzal birds while outdoor enthusiasts should take advantage of the variety of activities including hiking, swimming, Honduras diving, windsurfing, and tennis.

Here are a few additional suggestions of things to do in Honduras:

  • The Museum of Anthropology and History: This two-story museum features several intriguing displays that include information on the Spaniards' arrival, the Conquest, and the merging of Indigenous and Spanish cultures.
  • The Rio Platano Biosphere Reserve: The Rio Platano, the biggest and most impressive reserve in eastern Honduras, showcases thousands of diverse species of animals and plants.
  • The Nombre de Dios: Also known as "The Name of God," this mountain range expands east and south as visitors travel throughout the region. It features lush surroundings and a breathtaking landscape. One of the range's highlights is the Llama del Bosque, "The Flame of the Forest," a tall tree topped with exquisite red flowers.
  • Celaque National Park: Situated just outside the town of Gracias, this park contains excellent hiking trails and a cloud forest that includes the highest peak in Honduras. Celaque is a sacred center of spirituality for the Lenca people, who are indigenous to the region.
  • La Esperanza: Known also as "The Hope," this town is located in Intibuca, an area where many Lenca people reside. A drive from the town of Gracias to La Esperanza is well worth the trip. The road showcases some of the most breathtaking scenery in all of Honduras.
  • Gracias: This Honduran town is rich in culture and history. It is a must-see stop for all travelers interested in learning about the country. It features several historic sites including the village square, which is where Captain Juan de Chavez first arrived to the region in 1544.

A vacation rental is the best way to enjoy all of the comforts of home while you are in Honduras. Vacation rentals are a great way to make the most of your time in Honduras, whether you are on a Honduras honeymoon, a family vacation, or a spring break trip with your friends.

Paradise Found - Sleeps 8
Trip to remember

Heathers house is beautiful with all the modern amenities you could ask for. The water filtration system was broken but we were given more than enough purified water to last our entire stay. As a family of 5, we were able to spread out comfortably just as if we were home. It’s a super close walk to the beach which made it convenient when we stayed at the resort. Palmetto Bay is extremely remote which we were slightly unprepared for. The reviews we read that said it’s off the beaten path is an understatement. Because it was rainy season, the roads getting into and out of the resort were like nothing we have ever experienced. Completely unpaved, muddy with huge craters. Several times our transports had to get out to make sure they didn’t mess up the vehicle we hit holes so large! We are glad we did not rent a vehicle! We also became very strategic about coming and going as it was a huge undertaking. It also became expensive as drivers charge $35-$40 each way. Booking a driver through our tour was much more affordable. Virginia is the nice lady who keeps the house and was very welcoming. She was a phone call away as well and provided us with a phone to contact her. Overall, our trip was wonderful and we made amazing memories with our children.see more
Luxurious 2BR/2BR at Infinity Bay Resort Roatan
Excellent Stay

From start to finish Kathy was fantastic and the place is well kept and had everything we needed. The whole family enjoyed the stay and the resort property. It is a very active and lively resort so if you are looking for quaint not the right resort. Kathy took care of our extra needs and was super responsive. Thanks again and also for the driver who took us to the store from the airport. Shout out also to the security guards on the beach were fantastic. Super nice and friendly. Thank you Clarisela.see more
Beyond Paradise
Beautiful beachfront home with sweeping ocean views

I loved this bright, open, and airy beachfront home and it's expansive views. The large shaded deck is a perfect escape from the mid-day sun and offers exquisite views of the ocean, the distant mainland, and both sunrise and sunset. The location is excellent. Easy walking distance to town yet far enough away from the bustle of main street. The unpaved road in front of the house goes to the airport and is a good place to walk or run (not much traffic). There is wonderful snorkeling right in front of the house and up and down the coastline from there. It is also a great location for several beach dives. However, in windy conditions it can be tricky to get out onto the fore reef. Personally, I would give it a 5 star review, but my husband was less enamored with the house so my rating is a compromise between the two of us. We stayed here after 2 weeks in a beachfront house in Roatan that had very comfortable furniture both inside and outside on the deck, including a table for outside dining. We spend most of our time on the deck so comfortable deck furniture is a definite plus. At Beyond Paradise there are 2 comfy hammocks and 2 plank seats, but no really comfortable chairs for hanging out. That said, I am sure it is difficult to keep deck furniture in good condition because of the wind and constant sea spray, but it would definitely improve the overall experience. The other concern was the shower. It is attractive and well designed, but the on-demand hot water system made it difficult to adjust the water temperature. It often seemed to be way too hot, but turning it down made it run cold. Taking very quick showers seemed to work best (and conserved water too). The kitchen is relatively well equipped, especially if you mostly eat breakfast and/or lunch there and go out for dinner. There are 2 nice sauce pans, a small stock pot, and a stainless skillet. There is a coffee maker and blender which we used every day. We would have appreciated an electric water boiler (for my husband, the tea drinker). All in all, I would definitely recommend this beautiful house to others, but there are a few small details that could be improved.see more
Lawson Rock - Parrotfish 106
Beautiful complex

We loved our stay in Lawson Rock. The condo was great with ocean View and its own pool which we used every day. I loved waking up and having coffee on the patio Every morning. The deli and restaurant on site is nice for beer and wine if you have no car. The local bus is only a 20lemp and was great to get into West End. The staff is very friendly and accomadate get. We look forward to coming back in April.see more
Gorgeous private beachfront home complete with stunning sunsets
Winter retreat

We just spend ten wonderful days at Casa de Gracia. The house is located aprox. 25 steps from the beautiful water where you can swim and snorkel in your front yard. The house has great views of the ocean and sunsets.(the house is amazing) Blue island divers and the Salty dog restaurant (very good food)are next door. The owners Scott and Linda are the best always willing to help you anyway they can . Our family group of six can’t wait to go back next year.see more
Coral Vista #2
Perfect location in Roatan!

Our group of 4 stayed at Coral Vista #2 for a week. The view was great, and we enjoyed the close proximity to the quaint restaurants and bars in West End. The villa was well appointed with 3 king sized beds, and another bedroom with twins, all bedrooms have private bathrooms as well. We will be back!see more
