“Beautiful beach home”

Reviewed 16 Mar 2017

This house is located on the beach in Sandy bay. It was perfect for the two of us. There is a nice fully equipped kitchen, a good size bedroom, dining area and a living room with a sleeper sofa. There was a laundry room underneath with a washer and dryer. The views were spectacular from inside and outside on the lovely wrap around porch. The owner sent us a lot of very helpful information and arranged for us to be picked up at the airport. Lenora, the caretaker, is the best, she helped us out with anything we needed. The Octopus Dive shop was a short walk down the beach. There are also some nice restaurants within walking distance and a cab to the west end takes about 5 minutes. Lenora arranged a trip to the mangroves for us. We would highly recommend it and stop for a drink at the hole-in-the-wall pub while you're there, it's only accessible by boat. We had a wonderful time at Lara's Dream and would definitely recommend it. We hope to go back again soon.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for the lovely review. We're delighted you had a good time and hope we'll have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future

“Private ocean lover's dream”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2015

This place was so nice, clean, cozy and perfect for my husband and I to spend quality time together. Sitting out on the balcony in the hammock drinking my coffee in the morning while staring across the ocean was my absolute favorite part. The lizards and humming birds seen from that balcony were really neat. A short walk up the path always had a taxi passing through. The blue bahia right down the beach was an excellent restaurant with good food, live music on some nights and moderately priced. The gatekeeper was very sweet and really went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The alarm system along with the safe put my mind at ease about staying at a home vs a resort type setting.

“Paradise Indeed”

Reviewed 27 Mar 2014

We spend a wonderful week at Lara's Dream, enjoying the beach, deck and surrounding areas. The owner arranged for our transportation which included a stop at the grocery store and then the super friendly Leonora greeted us and showed us the place. The setting is beautiful and we took advantage of the provided beach toys (chairs, paddle board, kayak, bocce ball set) and found the cottage to be well stocked (towels, books, cards, games, music with iPod dock, fully equipped kitchen and propane BBQ). The few restaurants down the beach were good with live music. The cottage is secure (security system and safe) and the neighbors and local dogs are friendly and keep an eye out for each other - no safety issues here. Thank you Laraine and Leonora we plan on coming back soon!

Response from the owner We're so pleased you had a good time and liked the house and location as much as we do. Thanks for the tip to include the phone number for pizza delivery in the 'cheat sheet'. They weren't open (under new ownership) when I was there last, but that'll be another convenient option for guests, so will certainly do that when I can. Looking forward to you returning for another visit. Best regards, Laraine

“Relaxation at its best”

Reviewed 2 Mar 2014

Only a short drive from the airport (including picking up beer at the supermarket), Lara's Dream is secluded, yet just a short (cheap) cab ride from the bars and restaurants of West End. It was walking distance to the Octopus Dive Shop where I got certified on this trip, as well as a number of restaurants. I spent my days diving, sleeping in the hammock, watching the horizon and snorkeling. I also met several friendly locals who gave me a tour of the island. The house was well-stocked, and it was easy to fix my own meals. The fridge kept the beer cold... I have just booked my next trip with my family!

“An amazing place to relax and enjoythe natural beauty of the Car”

Reviewed 1 Jan 2014

Lara's Dream is an idyllic location to relax and get away from it all. The house was superbly equipped for those occasions when we chose to cook ourselves having visited West End to shop but equally close to some great friendly restaurants just a stroll along the beach or in West Bay itself. It is the perfect location for relaxing with magnificent views from the decks. Diving lessons were available a short distance along the beach which while challenging was a whole new experience and well worth the effort. Swimming with the dolphins at the nearby hotel was excellent. Looking forward to a return visit.

“A real gem!”

Reviewed 25 Dec 2013

My husband and I just have spent a week (16-23 Dec 2013) in Lara's dream. From the first moment we loved it.But the photos cannot really render the beauty of the house and its location! From the bedroom patio door we were looking the waves, the hummingbirds come the feed... The owner, Laraine, sent us detailed description of the life in Sandy Bay, restaurants. There weren't many unknowns... Leonora, the property manager is very nice and we enjoyed chatting with her or her teenage son in the evening. What we liked the most? 1.The fact that there is literally 20 feet from house to the water - no traffic, no crowd on the beach. Several restaurants are walking distance.2. the owner's choice of cds. It happens that we share the same taste! We listened to it every evening. The most exciting event? While I was fishing with bottle (learned that local way of fishing) wading in the water, a big green moray passed by, several times! It happens that the neighbor feeds it regularly. Great property. What we liked the least? Nothing to do with the house, but with the island itself. We did not like seeing so many armed security guards in public and so much garbage everywhere. It's a poor country located in natural paradise.:-(

“Quiet Paradise”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2013

Lara's Dream beach cottage is just that, you are staying on the beach feet from the Caribbean Sea in a wonderful quiet location, nice not to be in a tourist hotspot. We found the local neighbours friendly and very helpful. The cottage is well appointed, well maintained and kept very clean, even the surrounding beach is raked over. A hire car is useful to explore the farther parts of the island and the local taxis are fine, just remember to negotiate the fare first. Two of my hobbies are fishing and photography the local area and the whole island cater for these in bucket loads, this place must be heaven if you are into scuba diving and snorkelling. I can honestly say that the only downside to this holiday was that I could not stay longer. I will be back!!

“Perfect beach holiday experience”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2013

'Lara's Dream' is an ideal, well equiped cottage and is in a perfect location on the beach only a short stroll to the waterfront. The Cottage has a lovely balcony on which to relax, overlooking the clear blue water for paddling and snorkeling and long sandy beach. Easy access to anywhere on this beautiful island by cab, there are beach bars and places to eat nearby, but is also very peaceful. Our perfect holiday location.

“My dream place to stay Roatan!”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2013

Stayed for a week and my only regret was that I didn't book a longer trip. The cottage is just perfect, with everything you need inside and loads of great outdoor space with a huge wrap-around deck. It's located right on a beautiful beach which we had to ourselves nearly everyday. If you are looking for a little R&R; this is definitely the place for you. It's also just a short trip into town, with loads of great restaurants and bars.

“Great place on the water in a diver's dreamland”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2013

We (4) spent a great week in the cottage, Lara's Dream. It is right on the water with a reef just offshore. We snorkled to the reef and were rewarded with great visibility and an abundance of sea life. We dove daily on the boats in Roatan and each trip was great. The town with diving is very close, but we rented a car which turned out to be a boon for us, for various reasons and non-diving activities. Restaurants were very good and remarkable bargains, as was diving. Sunsets were admired every night from the very comfortable veranda. The place is very quiet with only the sound of the water lapping to sleep by. This is not a resort, but a lone cottage in a paradise setting. We believe anyone can enjoy this cottage and setting, but if you snorkel or dive, it is very special.
