Beachfront Luxury Condo - Paradise Found!

San Pedro apartment

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 4

“Excellent Island Experience!” The condo was perfect for 4 people on a vacation getaway! It was clean, supplied with whatever we may need and had a great layout such as being able to stand in the kitchen yet see all the through to the water. Dealings with the owner, property manager and even the grounds keeper was great. They were always friendly and helpful. The location was perfect due to being able to walk to anything we really wanted to such as the grocery store, resaurants, shopping, etc. We did rent a golf cart for those times we wanted to explore the south or north end of the island or we had more groceries than we wanted to carry! Can't wait to go back and would definately stay here again.

“This has been a most pleasant stay.” From day one until the last day, other than the weather, which was wetter than we expected...and outside human control, everything went very smoothly. From Rubio, the caretaker, to angela, the maid, to Mary and the group at Caye Management the service was excellent. Even downtown everyone was friendly and helpful; no one seemed to be gouging the tourists more than would be expected. We especially enjoyed being away from the noise of the town area. The gentle sounds of the ocean and the cool breezes through open windows made the nights restful. We opted for travel by golfcart. Yes, the road is pretty rough, but I liked the ability to just go right now without waiting for the Coastal express. And, yes, we are well above the "40 or so" mentioned by Lorna. Advice...don't pack a lot of clothes. This is T-shirt and sandal country. (You might also want to wear some shorts beneath the shirt.) If you really want to dress up, wear a shirt with a collar. You will more than likely buy some T-shirts (from $12.50 us to $20) anyway and if you want "Island" shirts Caribe Creations can make them for you (in one day) cheaper than you can buy them back home. No shirt...No shoes...No problem!

“It was awesome!!” I rented the 3BR unit from Deb Bennett/Vrbo and was so impressed with the service and response to all my questions and needs. She also lined us up with Dee who was the consierge for the Condos who helped line up all the events for my daughters wedding. The wedding was held on the beach right in front of the condo. The weather was perfect, the location perfect. I can't wait to have another opportunity to head to Belize. We had plenty of room for the three of us staying in the unit-my brother ,my sister and myself and then room for the bride to get dressed etc. I highly recommend renting the golf cart. I thought it would be ok to bike into town but that was not the best option. Cart is a must and a reasonable expense. We tried almost all the resturants that Deb recommended and all were awesome. Best bar was Wayo's or Bj's a close 2nd.

Striking Caribbean Views-Oasis del Caribe #12

San Pedro apartment

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 5

“We were very happy that we stayed at Oasis #12.” Great location on the beach and close to a lot of tour type activities and places to eat. The 2 bedrooms and 3 beds worked great for our family of 5 to stay for a week. For the price I doubt you will find many (if any) like this (with a pool) on ambergris and if you do I doubt it will be in as good of a location (considering you understand that there is a lot of poverty in Belize that you will see). Recommend that you try scuba diving with Patajo ($65 for 2 great tank dives if you have your own gear) a few docks south and take a $5 taxi to eat at Ramon's Village one night. Hol Chan and Shark Ray alley are great to snorkel and see many things that you'll see scuba diving. 50 pound Groupers, large rays, nurse sharks, sea turtles... Ramon's Village also is a great place to snorkel off their dock in the morning (for free). We don't mind walking up to the third floor, but something to consider if you don't like walking up steps a lot or aren't able to carry your own luggage up that far. Loved the slate floor everywhere and all of the channels of cable TV where nice at night when we stayed in.

About Ambergris Caye

Ambergis Caye, the biggest island in Belize, is a popular destination for travelers. There is only one inhabited town in the area, known as San Pedro. The environment there is very laid back. Residents and visitors alike enjoy the slower pace here since the landscape and its sights are so spectacular and worth taking the time to explore. For water lovers, there is an abundance of activities to choose from, including Ambergris Caye diving, Ambergris Caye fishing, and Ambergris Caye snorkeling.

Here are a few additional suggestions of things to do in Ambergris Caye:

  • The Belize Barrier Reef: This is the second largest living coral reef on the planet, and it spans along the country's entire coast. It is big draw for travelers interested in scuba diving and snorkeling since the underwater sights are simply awe-inspiring.
  • The Lalas Bird Sanctuary: This reserve was created by Wil and Susan Lala and it is located just outside of San Pedro Town. It includes an innovative perch for people, which is the ideal space for bird watching.
  • Hol Chan Marine Reserve: This popular underwater park is only accessible via boat and features plenty of coral and marine life.
  • The Butterfly Jungle: This jungle showcases butterflies at every stage of life from tiny eggs to caterpillars to butterflies. Visitors will be able to see each stage as it progresses and learn about the insect's role in the country's ecosystem.
  • Tanah Mayan Art Museum: This Mayan art gallery, museum, and shop are housed in one room and features traditional Mayan works of slate carvings. The building is in traditional Mayan form as well and consists of limestone and clay walls, a parquet floor of logs and limestone, and a thatch roof of leaves.

You can soak in all of the beauty that Ambergris Caye has to offer right from your very own vacation rental. Vacation rentals are a great way to make the most of your time in Ambergris Caye, whether you are on an Ambergris Caye honeymoon, a family vacation, or a spring break trip with your friends. A condo or villa rental by the beach provides spectacular views of the ocean as well as all the modern amenities you need.

Adorable 1 bedroom condo on private beach! - Sunset Beach A3 - AC/WiFi/kayaks
Fantastic place to stay in San Pedro, Belize

We stayed at this condo for 6 nights at the end of april. We could not wish for a better place - spacious, nicely furnished, clean and with a well equipped kitchen. A small swimming pool is right in front of the building and 3 more steps and you are on the beach! This condo is everything you need to have a fabulous holiday on this island.see more
A3 Pool, beach, & sea outside your front door
peaceful beachside condo just a few miles south of San Pedro

As was the case throughout the entire planning process (and trip!), Barb responded lightning-fast to my inquiries with a plethora of advice. After careful consideration, we decided to split our vacation between Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye (Sunset Beach Resort). We had a blast in both places and love, love, loved our time at Sunset Beach! We focused on scuba diving while on Caye Caulker. We had no trouble finding other things to do on Ambergris Caye- in fact, we could have easily spent more time “doing nothing” while we were at Sunset Beach (next time!). The resort is just far enough from town (~2.5 miles) that it feels secluded and peaceful. Yet it’s close enough that it’s a cinch to get into town whenever desired. The taxi service that works with Sunset Beach is quite convenient and reliable. Next time—when we stay for more that just a few nights—we’ll probably rent a golf cart (for the added convenience and also because they look like a ton of fun!). We did take the resort’s complimentary bikes into town one afternoon. It was easy and fun. There are so many activities to do on Ambergris Caye! Highlights include: snorkeling at the Hol Chan marine reserve, taking an evening tour with the American Crocodile Education Sanctuary, eating delicious food (enjoyed by both tourists and locals) at Caliente in San Pedro, and embarking on a day-long ATM cave tour on the Belize mainland (note: this was a very long but INCREDIBLE single-day journey). We also loved that Sunset Beach was only a ~10 minute walk along the beach to the local “Island Time” beach bar. They provided the perfect low-key venue to kick-off our New Year’s Eve celebration before we hopped in a cab to check out the action in San Pedro. We also learned the following morning that “Island Time” has pretty delicious breakfast (warning: portions are huge)! Looking back, there were many amenities at Sunset Beach that we wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy! Next time we will be sure to also cook in the incredibly well-stocked kitchen, lounge in the ocean-front hammocks, and take the complimentary kayaks out for a paddle. We can’t wait until our next visit!see more
Mayflower Casita - a tropical garden oasis
The Place for You

If you prefer living in a local neighborhood rather than a standardized hotel, or if you prefer a cottage to a small hotel room, or even if you are simply looking for a bargain, the Mayflower Casita may well be the place for you. It is beautifully situation on a lot with tons of local foliage complete with a great variety of birds. It is a minute away from the beach with easy access to the town of San Pedro. The cottage itself is tastefully decorated. Karen the owner is a perfect hostess. She is there when you need her, and is invisible when you don’t. This is a great place and a great bargain.see more
BELIZE - CASA TORTUGA VILLA
A Bucket List Come True

Casa Tortuga was everything and more. Our group from Texas were blown away and kept thanking me for finding this beautiful villa and sharing this wonderful experience with them. Maria is your shining star. She is an incredible cook. The food and table presentation for every meal was outstanding. Everything was fresh and mouth watering delicious. Her assistants were very sweet and with the three of them, they kept Casa Tortuga in top shape. The grounds were just beautiful. They were well maintained and kept fresh for a new day of fun in the sun. Our group enjoyed all the wonderful tours that were available for us, snorkeling, fishing and the zip lining tours. The whole week was an incredible experience and one that none of us will ever forget. We all want to come back! A big Texas thank you for a trip of a lifetime.see more
Beachfront Luxury Condo - Paradise Found!
Perfect Spot For Us

This condo became home to us during our week long vacation in San Pedro. It was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The owner is very easy to work with. WE lost Wi-Fi inside the condo one morning and called the number for the manager that was left for us and it was corrected by that evening- very easy to work with everyone! The location is ideal. We walked to everything (although we did rent a golf cart for a few days from Cholos down the beach so we could explore every inch of the island), but when we were not on the cart, we were walking the beach. The best thing about this condo has to be the POOL! It is wonderful. It was clean and warm and there are plenty of chairs to relax in. The maintenance crew is great too- Alex was so friendly! I will say that the condo does not really sit on a true "beach"...the kind you'd pull a beach chair out to and lounge on, but a quick walk down the road leads to a basketball court and in front of that is a sandy area to wade into the ocean and enjoy the water. There is a small grocery store next door to the condo where we bought most of our essentials (Beer, water and Gatorade mostly- we also bought paper towels and toilet paper as only a small supply was supplied in the condo, but it wasn't very expensive)...The people who work there are very friendly and accommodating. When visiting San Pedro I would highly recommend a trip (or two) to Elvi's in town. Friday night is the Mayan Buffet and it is fantastic. We also really enjoyed Blue Water Grill, Hurricane's Ceviche Bar and Waragamu's in town (Papusas!!). Again, the condo was in walking distance to all. Fantastic experience and should we return to San Pedro, we would no doubt rent here again! Thank yousee more

Phenomenal staff, exceptional value, amazing property

My family (my husband, 13 year old and 2 year old daughters, my mom, and I) stayed 8 nights in condo A4. The unit suited our needs perfectly and had all of the amenities of home to make us comfortable. I would first like to mention that the staff of Sunset Beach have the best customer service of anywhere I have ever stayed (and I travel ALOT). Barbara was so helpful from the get-go with all of my tedious questions. I feel like I know her even though I never met her in person! Judy was so nice and made us feel at home when we arrived for check in. Chapin made sure our unit was ready for us when we arrived and even helped us open a coconut one evening! The views truly are amazing....you can see the reef from the second floor veranda! The downstairs porch was a nice setting for many lunches. We grilled our dinner out on the gas and charcoal grills and had dinner next to the sand under the covered bar area. There were several hammocks hanging from the mature coconut trees. Plenty of shade on the beach to not worry as much about the sun. My 2 year old enjoyed building sandcastles and digging for shells. The unit had some sand toys in a closet, so we borrowed that (and also used what we brought along). The swimming pool was always crystal clean (the caretaker, Chapin, does an amazing job on the property). The beach was raked daily of the Sargassum seaweed that seems to be plaguing the island. Although this grass can be beneficial to turtles, it also emits hydrogen sulfide if it washes up on the beach and is not cleaned up (decomposing Sargassum smells like raw sewage). Chapin seemed to be on the task of raking this up to keep the property looking and smelling as nice as possible. However, if you take a walk on the beach, you will see that this seaweed is a big problem. The gasses that it emits is not really a problem unless you have respiratory problems, are elderly, have babies or are pregnant. It is just really stinky. The palapa at the end of the wooden pier was nice for sitting and watching the boats go by. We also snorkeled around and under the deck and found some amazing creatures living under there! A moray eel, nurse shark, and many fish were hanging out in and around the area. We arranged for several excursions on our trip (Hol Chan/Shark Ray Alley snorkeling and several days of diving). The company we made arrangements with (Ramon's Village - also phenomenal) came and picked us up at the dock at no additional charge.see more
