Description

Villa Manis, Ubud, Bali

This quaint and charming Colonial inspired 1 bedroom villa is fully furnished and designer decorated. The one Bedroom/one bathroom villa is only a 10 minute walk from the Royal Palace of Ubud and the famous Ubud tourist market. This beautiful comfortable home is ideal for a couple on holiday or a single person on retreat. Conveniently located to great shopping, spas and fabulous restaurants, the villa is only minutes away from Central Ubud. With rice paddy and jungle views, an enclosed tropical garden and shared saltwater pool, the villa is a cozy and comfortable exotic home away from home.

For a different type of holiday away from the big hotels, in a beautiful Balinese village with rice paddy views, stay in your own place with a complete kitchen and friendly Balinese staff to take care of you. Take walks through the rice paddies and village down to town only minutes away.

We can also help arrange additional specialty guided tours with a neighbor driver to visit the local healers and spiritual teachers. The villa is also very close to all types of yoga classes and retreats, Tai Chi, Chi Kung classes and/or Ubud Fitness Gym, as well as some incredible spa experiences. We can even arrange for in house massages by some of the best massage therapists in Ubud, as well as hair treatments, foot reflexology, manicures, pedicures, and facials.

The living room and side verandahs with outdoor dining and hammock for lazy afternoon siestas overlook the pool with views of the rice paddies, tropical garden and jungle river gorge.

Our staff, Made and Wayan will help make your holiday special and relaxing. They will clean the house, make the beds, and make your stay more efficient and comfortable. Many of the local restaurants have home delivery. Wayan or Nengah will shop for you at the organic vegetable market and local supermarket to supply the house with your requested foods and drink. We will also be happy to give you any tips on where to have the best experience for you to tour the island, go shopping, visit the spas, local dances, visit the temples, etc. etc.

The king size teak Colonial 4 poster bed is very comfortable with lots of cushy pillows, and the ensuite bathroom has a bathtub and open garden shower. Fall asleep to the sound of crickets and frogs, and from your bedroom verandah watch the working ducks and flying cranes in the rice fields, and observe the Balinese children flying their kites.

For an additional charge we can arrange for a car and driver to take you touring for the day, or to pick you up at the airport and deliver you to the door.

Response from the owner Dear Angeles from Singapore. We always appreciate when guests draw attention to aspects of their stay that they found disappointing as sometimes we can implement improvements. However, we are a bit dismayed at some of the points and less than reasonable comments you made. We felt we tried our best to address and correct any of your complaints in a timely fashion. 1)We have been an Airbnb villa host for six years and have had the exact same cleaning staff. They well understand our strict protocols which include that all villas must be thoroughly cleaned before a new guest arrives. We personally assure that this happens for every guest. This includes putting on newly washed sheets and airing out the villa so it feels fresh. In all the years of operation, we have had no complaints about such issues. 2) You actually requested that the house be closed up because you were afraid a frog or some bugs might come in. Our standard procedure, unless a guest prefers to stay in air-conditioned comfort during the day, is to open the houses to air them out. When at the villa, most guests enjoy having the doors open during the day to take advantage of our lovely weather. 3) The reason that the walls and roof were left slightly open is as you say better air circulation. This was an intentional design feature which guests have really loved. However, we did immediately add screening to the bathroom at your request. 4) Mosquitoes can be a problem given our proximity to the river jungle. They come out at night which is when we advise guests to close all of the doors from 5 to 7 in the evening and 5 to 7 am. Therefore, the mozzies stay outside and guests feel comfortable in all inside areas of the villa. We also provide a mosquito net over the bed. 2 electric Mosquito zappers and we will also give any other sprays or coils if requested. But, we try to remain as green as possible and not use poisonous sprays or fogging. It is interesting that the mosquitoes only came in during the first two nights. I can only think that the doors were left open after dusk. 5) Frogs and spiders can get into the villa during the day as they live nearby. However, they are harmless, so very few guests complain about it. It is just part of holidaying in the tropics. 6) When I first opened the villa, I installed lights along the pathway from the villa to the main road to ensure the safety of all guests. This was actually at my own expense as no other villa in the area thought it was necessary. The safety and comfort of our guests is a top priority for me as the host. It is a safe pathway, although you have to be careful if it has been raining as it is a bit slippery. However, our staff are usually available to give you a lift to the main city if there is any concern. 7) to make things clear for other readers, the pool is not 3x2M, but 10 x 4 M. With a salt water chlorinator to clean the pool. 8) 9) I am not sure what you mean by the walls being paper thin as the villa was constructed under my supervision to meet international standards. There is very no noise between the two villas and none between our neighbours, so all you will hear are the evening sounds of nature. 10) We ensure that all guests have adequate drinking water, plus tea, coffee and condiments. Everything is replenished daily. 11) Water pressure is a problem around Bali as the water table is getting lower and the number of villas is growing rapidly. Most tourists are not aware that there is a severe water shortage in Bali with all of the building of large hotels with large pools, hundreds of toilets, showers and bath tubs. We strive to keep our villas in the Bali mood and not have the large hotel vibe. We are a family run business, not a large hotel chain. In summary, a few of the things you mentioned are simply part of holidaying in Ubud, but we certainly endeavored to meet each of your demands on a timely basis. I am sure that one of the reasons that you choose Villa Manis was based on the many positive comments we regularly receive from our guests. Granted though everyone has different accommodation preferences, so we apologize that you feel we let you down.
