Description
This fairy tale medieval castle, once property of the notorious Borgia family, is exceptionally well situated on the borders of Tuscany and Umbria on the shore of the lake Trasimeno.
Today, after many centuries of history, it appears in its present form, imposing stone facade with one tall tower, Renaissance arches, cross vaulted ceilings, large stone fireplaces, lovely flooring of oak parquet or terracotta. In the last two years the owner renovated some areas inside the castle such as bathrooms and two bedrooms. The castle is situated in a fenced off park of 9 acres, abundant of secular trees, flower beds, and beautiful plants. There is a big swimming pool and a tennis court.
The castle interiors, decorated with splendid frescos, are very tastefully furnished with elegant and valuable pieces of furniture. This exclusive atmosphere represents a unique experience. In the serene countryside, where the stillness is punctuated only by the sounds of wild birds and the cicadas, it is hard to imagine that Hannibal celebrated his great victory over Rome on the shores below.
It is the ideal location for relaxing and visiting the enchanting villages of Umbria: Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto, Todi, Spoleto and Gubbio. Tuscany is right next door, starting with the village of Cortona, making it ideal for experiencing the wonders of Italian cooking and wines. Italians come to the resort village of Passignano, situated below Il Borgia, for its charming lakefront embarcadero where restaurants line the shore and ferries take visitors to the interesting islands dotting the lake. This provides an ideal location for guests to blend with the locals and enjoy Italy's most charming roots like a native.

Garden: The castle is situated in a fenced off park of 9 acres, abundant of secular trees, flower beds and beautiful plants. There are many places around the park with tables and chairs where is possible to have lunch or dinner, barbeque.
Swimming pool: Big swimming pool (13x8 m) with adjacent a toilet, a small bar area and a shower.

“lovely umbrian countryside weekend escape”
We had experienced the borga castle over a past weekend escape to the umbrian countryside. Conveniently located between the lake and Perugia which offers a wide variety of different day trip options and local dining to explore. The owners of the property have been delightful during the booking and stay experience and we will for sure return next spring or summer. I can wholeheartedly recommend this property for a true italian countryside experience. If you have kids the castle stay will be a cherished memory for the times to come and it would be a wonderful, unique wedding location as well...

“The most amazing vacation rental ever!!”
My wife and I traveled to Italy and stayed at the Borgia Castle with some friends and family. First of all, the castle is spectacular and even more beautiful then we could have imagined. The pictures of the castle do not do it justice, as it really is an amazing-real-life castle! The Castle itself is very spacious and all of the rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished. There is a full kitchen with plates, utensils, etc. and modern bathrooms throughout. In addition, it was super clean. While the place does not have air conditioning, there are fans available (but we didn’t really need them as it was nice and cool at night). The Castle also has a pool, tennis courts, and plenty of areas to explore. We also cannot say enough about the property manager (Julie) who is simply amazing. She was very responsive to our emails and answered all of our questions before we booked the reservation. She took care of everything we asked for and even arranged for fresh Italian dinners to be cooked for us at the castle, for transportation, and made sure that we had everything we needed. The staff who work there are also very friendly and made our stay very comfortable. It was very easy to get to the Castle, and it is located close to a beautiful little Italian town, with resturants and local shops. We recommend having a rental car if you want to venture out and explore. We highly recommend staying at the Borgia Castle for your next vacation. It is a lovely vacation rental and a place that we hope to return to for years to come.

“Great get away With friends and family”
Car required but easy acess on auto strada to places such as Perugia, passanago, Florence Rome etc.. Great base for Umbria and Tuscany. Everything a group of friends or family require to get away and spend time together in a beautiful property... Can't wait to visit again..
