Description from owner
Description
Little Cocoa offers high-quality, self-catering accommodation for two, on a small, organic cocoa farm in Providence, St. David’s. Originally the old plantation estate office, this historic, stone-built cottage is situated on a mountain ridge bordering the rain forest, with breath-taking views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Ideal for the independent traveller who wants to experience something a little bit different, Little Cocoa makes a great base to explore the island, or simply relax and enjoy the tranquillity of your surroundings. We’re only ten minutes’ drive from La Sagesse - one of the best beaches in the world, and twenty five minutes from the famous Grand Anse beach and the capital, St. Georges. Explore its rambling streets and bustling market, visit old military forts, graceful plantation houses, waterfalls, spice gardens and rum distilleries. Go diving, snorkelling or turtle watching, or just relax in the sunshine with a rum punch.
Little Cocoa has been lovingly restored and tastefully furnished. It offers a fully-equipped kitchen and comfortable sitting room with TV, DVD and Internet. The large, luxurious double-bedroom features locally-produced, hand-made, hard wood furniture. There is a beautiful, en-suite bathroom with solar-heated water. The rooms have ceiling fans and nature's air-conditioning - a powerful breeze. Outside there is a large verandah where you can dine or relax in the hammock and enjoy the view. The cottage is set in its own private garden, and there is off-road parking.
We can collect you from the airport, and arrange car hire for you, and we also offer a car service for short journeys if you don’t want to hire a vehicle. (There is also a local bus nearby.) We love to get to know our guests, and will happily provide a typical Grenadian meal or a trip in our boat for a BBQ on Hog Island. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, a rural environment with wonderful walks, bird watching, beautiful panoramic views, and a lush, green landscape cooled by refreshing mountain breezes, Little Cocoa is perfect.

“If you need to get away from it all, go there!”
Quiet, lush, green, relaxed. I stayed there for 10 day. I loved it! What more to say. Even Grenadians ask: Providence! Where is that? It's in the Grenadian mountains and a 40 minutes ride from th… More

“Highly recommended”
Little Cocoa offers spacious, comfortable and well thought out accommodation for two adults (+ a baby not yet walking for safety). The kitchen is well equipped and the king sized bed very comfortable. All was clean and welcoming. The verandah was the highlight, we spent long evenings out there listening to the frog and cricket chorus or watching our three lizards hunting around the lamps. The lush garden and cocoa plantation were great for birdwatching and if you enjoy the beauty of birds, insects and the possibility of seeing some of Grenada's wildlife you'll enjoy this special cottage high above the coast. The nearest supermarket is 20 minutes drive, there are no restaurants within an easy walk, and the nearest beach and restaurant is about 3km down the hill so it could be a long walk back after a day on the beach. In our view a small 4x4 is essential to get the best from this location, roads are sometimes steep and uneven but don't let that put you off, it's fine with care. Grenada has so much to offer visitors with its rich history, varied landscape and friendly people - we thoroughly enjoyed exploring. Don't miss Belmont Estate or the River Antoine rum distillery if you go. Our thanks to Shelley and Patrick for all the information and help that made the difference, we wish them all the best. It was a memorable holiday and we very much hope to go back to Little Cocoa before too long.
