“Romantic and serene”

Reviewed 15 May 2014

We stayed at Villa Sujati for 2 nights in April with our 4 month old baby. It was wonderfully peaceful and serene after the bustle of Seminyak and I only wish we could have stayed on for longer. The walk down the path through the paddy fields was lovely and not too much trouble even with our baby in a carrier and the surrounding noise of crickets, roosters, dogs etc were all distant and pleasantly added to the atmosphere. Whilst the villa is a little remote from the town centre there were plenty of great cafes and warungs within walking distance so we weren't left wanting. The 'staff' (and the owner, Ketut, in particular) were lovely, friendly and trips into town, a cot and even babysitting was organised at a moments notice. Downsides: the sheer curtains throughout do mean there's little chance of sleeping in as the bedrooms become flooded with light at dawn, but with a little baby there was none of that for us anyway. And despite being surrounded by rice paddies on all sides (think stagnant water) there were surprisingly very few mosquitoes - but they were present and they bit my defenseless little one. There weren't many of them but we had to create a makeshift mosquito net over his cot using one of the curtains to protect him. All in all, I'd very happily stay here again.

“Very nice staff”

The highlight of this villa is the staff, the manager and the housekeepers, especially Made, who is absolutely wonderful. The villa is also very quiet and in a very beautiful setting. I would not recommend the villa to people with small kids though as the villa does not have direct car access. You have to use a very small path in the middle of rice fields, about 700 m, before you get to the villa. So if it's raining (happens frequently in Ubud( and you are trying to get your small kids to a car, you have to have a scooter (not so great with babies/small kids). I think the villa is more suitable to couples who can travel by scooter, with older kids for a short trip to Ubud.

“A perfect getaway!”

Our stay at Villa Sujati was exceptional. The property is huge and very well maintained. The friendly full-time staff was great with the cook making us things to order anytime we liked, and they washed our clothes daily too. Airport pick-up was seamless, and staff was waiting to transport us and our luggage down the narrow rice paddy paths to the villa. During your stay here, it will be necessary to rent a moped to get into Ubud, which is about a 10-minute drive away. Pool temperature was perfect, and our 5-year-old son loved splashing in it for hours. The staff even cut fresh coconuts from the trees for us to drink. We watched rice being harvested in the adjacent paddies. We kept our valuables locked in the safe and had no security issues.

“Great place for quiet and relaxation”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2012

Villa Sujati is big and comfortable. I enjoyed breakfast in the elevated gazebo overlooking the rice fields in the back. The house has a lot of lovely places to lounge and relax. There is a large garden and the pool gets a lot of sun. The villa is down a path about five minutes so it is somewhat isolated and peaceful. Still it is quite close to Ubud. From the main road, you can reach Ubud city in 3 minutes by car.
