“Felt like Home”

Reviewed 14 Jan 2015

We really can't say enough about how great Casa Francisco is. The location is perfect for anything you would want to do in San Miguel. The street does not have bus traffic so it is quieter than most of the colonial streets. Easy walk to the Jardin. The house is so comfortable and easy to feel at home there. Abraham was always available and so delightful and helpful. Things were so well explained it wasn't necessary to contact either Abraham or the owner except when we failed to read their instructions. The owner constantly checked on us and Walt is so easy to work with. The courtyard and fountain were so relaxing and the view from the roof was really beautiful. I loved the bed and the bathrooms with dressing areas and of course the fireplaces made everything seem so cozy. Maura was delightful and our cook Socorro that we hired separately with the help of Abraham was wonderful we miss her a lot. Can't wait for our next trip.

Response from the owner Wonderful review! Apologies for the delayed response, as I thought I had sent this thank you earlier. Many thanks!

“Prepare yourself to say, "WOW"”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2014

We also have a Flipkey rental and so we're not easily impressed but Casa Francisco was a definite 5-star rental. We actually said, "WOW", when we entered the door. The photos don't begin to do it justice; the open central courtyard and fountain are just the beginning. The bedrooms and study are upstairs... all very comfortable. The outdoor dining area with amazing fireplace was so cool I wished we had friends to come over for dinner. BTW, there are four fireplaces in all. Terrific modern kitchen with everything you could want. The manager, Abraham, was waiting for us when we arrived, gave us directions to navigate the one way streets and even found us a secure/guarded parking lot just half a block away. We only used the car once during the week to go out to the hot springs (definitely worth it). The rest of the time we walked everywhere. I could go on and on but I think this gives the overall feeling about our stay. We will definitely return.

Response from the owner Many thanks for your kinds words about Casa Francisco, Dale! We hope to see you and your guests back in SMA soon! Best regards, Walt

“Wonderful Mexican Casa Experience”

The house and San Miguel are superb. The politeness, business-like efficiency, and general good attitude of both the owner and his local staff really stood out, compared to most.

Response from the owner Many thanks, Rory!

“I just didn't want to leave!”

Reviewed 26 Apr 2014

Staying at Casa Francisco was a delightful experience. My husband and I, both retired, were visiting SMa for the first time and found the casa's location to be most convenient. Easy walk to all parts of town and never a problem finding a taxi for longer trips or for grocery shopping. Some great restaurants nearby. Inside, the ambience is lovely. It's much prettier than the pictures suggest. There's quality furnishings, from a large selection of thick towels and sheets to a newer Cuisinart blender, a large gas stove. and huge refrigerator. Beds felt new, with puffy down covers and down pillows. Everything worked properly, cookware was complete, washer and dryer were great and there's a huge selection of attractive dishes, platters, and cutlery. Bathrooms were very clean, spacious, and well lit, and all the hardware and drains worked perfectly. Gorgeous tile! Large closets with built in deep drawers for each bedroom. Great cross breezes from the open French doors in upstairs rooms. Nice office area for computing. We visited in early March and never used the fireplaces. Romantic evening lighting in the courtyard. Views from the rooftop deck were beautiful. Walt was helpful and professional, and he accommodated for our late night arrival. It was a pleasure to work with him. The house keeper worked twice a week and was prompt and thorough. There were absolutely no flaws in our stay at Casa Francisco, except having to pack up and leave!

Response from the owner Alicia & Rory, Many thanks for such an appreciative review! Please let me know if we could host you again. Best regards, Walt

“Beautiful Home in Perfect Location”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2014

This lovely home is in a perfect location. An easy walk to the main town square, Mega grocery store, library, restaurants and markets. It is very comfortably furnished, well maintained, and the kitchen well equipped. The property manager and maid are both delightful to deal with and very helpful. The owner kindly contacted us during our stay to make sure everything was okay and see if we had any questions. I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful home.

Response from the owner Many thanks (gracias) Linda & Roberto!

“Lovely well-appointed home in excellent location in San Miguel!”

My husband and I spent 6 weeks in Casa San Francisco. We rented the house sight unseen and have to say we were very happy with our choice. The owner Walt Trask was a delight to work with and was very responsive to all our needs. He is extremely organized and tech savvy and it shows in the way the house runs. His housekeeper, Maru, kept the house spotless and did our laundry. The photographs on flip key do not do the house walk through the front door and have a lovely dining room on the right and a beautiful living room that has french doors that radiate our into a great light-filled courtyard with a bubbling fountain. The two bedrooms and bathrooms are extremely comfortable and the rooftop has fantastic views of the lighted churches of San Miguel. The best part is that everything is within a short walk from the house; all the fun restaurants, great shopping, and the square which is the center of life in San Miguel. This worked very well for my husband and I because I felt very safe walking home at ten o'clock at night after the film festival by myself. This aspect was very important to me personally because being a New Yorker for 30 years I am used to that freedom of movement. One of our friends who visited us said that the house was better than any hotel she had stayed in and was furious her husband had not come with her to experience it. I, once again, have to comment on how easy it is to communicate with Walt about the house and how he is so on top of things. It is a well run home.

Response from the owner Many thanks, Gale and Bill! Best regards, Walt

“Just charming!”

Reviewed 16 May 2013

We had a lovely stay at Walt's casa in SMa. We felt very welcome and very well taken care of. The house and courtyard are lovely. Walt's attention to detail is overwhelming. Just look at the tile, the lighting, the ceiling work and the overall grace surrounding a lovely private courtyard. The effect was comfortable, inviting and relaxing. The town of SMa is beautiful with lots of shopping and food along the cobblestone streets. And, don't let me forget the beautiful view from the roof top terrace. Thank you, Walt, for a lovely vacation.

Response from the owner Thanks, Gloria.

“Perfection in San Miguel!”

Reviewed 4 Dec 2012

I recently stayed at Casa Francisco with my business partner for over two weeks. We were both very happy with the beautiful surroundings, cleanliness and unbelievable location of this casa. This large casa surrounds a stunning courtyard complemented by an ornate fountain, an outdoor fireplace and breathtaking local foliage. On the main level you have a palatial foyer that meanders into a large well equipped kitchen, formal dining room, comfortable living room with fireplace and french doors that open to the courtyard. There is also a two piece bathroom on this level. The decadent arched stairway leads to the second floor which has two bedrooms, both with gas fireplaces and french doors that open onto the magical courtyard. The bedrooms are separated by a large open office offering optimal privacy. Our housekeeper, Maru, was exceptional and extremely charming. She kept the casa spotless and was ultimately patient as we practiced our broken spanish on her. The owner, Walt, lives in the us yet still managed to accommodate our every need. If we had any questions or concerns a quick call to Walt from the casa's free us/Canadian landline put us at ease). Before we left Canada we asked Walt if we needed to bring a blowdryer. He arranged to have one bought before we arrived so we didn't have to drag one with us. This casa feels like a glamorous home away from home. It is in the heart of it all, being only a 3 minute walk to the Jardin and a 5 minute walk to Juarez park. My partner and I, both female, felt completely safe walking from the centre of town back to the casa in the evening. I am going back to SMa early next year and will definitely stay here again (if it is available). I would highly recommend Casa Francisco to anyone who is planning a trip to SMa. Thanks again Walt for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home! Sincerely, Jada

Response from the owner Gracias, Jada!

“I'm forever tied to San Miguel...thanks to this house.”

There is absolutely nothing I dislike about this warm, comfortable, gorgeous and most accommodating home in the Historic Center of San Miguel de allende. From the moment you enter through the wooden doors off of the cobble-stoned street, into the charming foyer. You know right away that you're in a truly, Mexican inspired home. Leading you into a quaint Sala with a very nice lit fountain and gas fireplace. Off of the Sala is a kitchen that will suit all your culinary needs. It certainly suited mine. Being that I'm a chef for a living and everything that I could use to prepare wonderful meals there was at my disposal. Nicely decorated living room with fireplace and a dining room that's perfectly suited for entertaining. Upstairs there are the two substantial bedrooms, each with it's own fireplace and bathroom. The master bedroom is quite large and has a wonderful hallway that leads to the master bath, with a beautifully tiled, glass enclosed shower. Beaten copper double sinks and beautifully tiled throughout as well. There are boveda and barrel vault ceilings in some of the rooms as well. Wifi, television in both bedrooms, cable, laundry room with stackable washer and dryer as well as a charming roof top terrace. Walt Trask the owner of this home is the most charming, accommodating, personable and service oriented owners you could ever meet. The manager of the home is always available to help with any questions. And Maru the maid who is there to clean twice a week is so sweet and has such a kind heart. You cannot ask for a better location for this home. It's just a short walk to the Jardin. As well as to most of the lively and delicious restaurants of every kind. My favorite is Mare Nostrum! It's has become one of my favorite restaurants in San Miguel to eat at. It's right around the corner from the house and the owners are so welcoming. I adore this house and it's owner. It's truly my perfect home away from home.

Response from the owner Gracias, Quincy!

“Location, Location, Location!”

San Miguel de allende is a wonderful experience...that experience is made simply superb by staying in the historic centre in a Spanish Colonial-style home in modern comfort with wonderful staff and excellent management. Being mere steps from El Jardin (the main square) puts you at the centre of art, restaurants, entertainment, 18th century architecture and the cultural celebrations for which San Miguel is justly famous. Walk everywhere without the hills that, while part of San Miguel's charm, can be daunting. In effect, there are two beautiful master suites that make it an ideal rental for a couple to entertain guests or for two couples. We would stay here again and have recommended it to good friends who have done so with pleasure.

Response from the owner Many thanks, guys!
