“Garden Cottage Ubud”
Lovely villa at a quiet location with villas and rice fields adjacent but only a 10 minute walk to the main street. Very spacious with kitchen, dining room and and two large bedrooms. Not sure why they call it cottage. It's bigger than some of ht other villas we rented during our stay in Bali. Covered deck adjacent to both upstairs and downstairs bedroom. Cottage surrounded by pretty garden. Pool shared with 2 other adjacent cottages Housekeeper/maintenance person on-site in adjacent cottage. Note cottage is located on a narrow lane (no car access) approx 100 feet from Sri Wedari road. Have owner arrange transportation if you are arriving late as it may be had to locate at night. Located next to Duana Sari villas (cottage is down lane from Duana Sari which has a sign). Loved the quite location that is still close to the main road. Seniman Coffee and other restaurants on Sri Wedari less than a 10 minute walk.
“Charming and spacious homes with great service”
I found the Garden Cottages very comfortable. I’ve stayed in two of them. The larger two bedroom offers more (privacy, an extra bedroom, a dining table) whereas the one bedroom is a little more modern and fronts the pool. The differences are small as I found both comfortable. The location is perfect, a quiet residential-ish street yet only a 10 min walk to Jl Raya Ubud. The gardens are Bali beautiful. The staff is everything I want: helpful, friendly, and unobtrusive. Highly recommended.
Response from the owner Thank you so much for your kind review. We are very happy your enjoyed your stay with us and in Ubud. We enjoyed having you as a guest and hope you will come to stay with us again. You were definitely here in Bali at the right time during the holiday season. Cheers.
“Absolutely Charming !!!”
This is the second time my daughter and I have stayed at The Garden Cottage and it was just as beautiful as the first. We were greated by Mary the owner as well as Wayan and Made her adorable staff. There was a huge platter of tropical fruit waiting for us as well as a gorgeous arrangement of flowers. The villa is spotless and was cleaned every day. We were always supplied with drinking water which was very much appreciated. The outdoor shower is heaven! The pool is very clean and well maintained and we spent many afternoons relaxing there. The surrounding gardens are so lush we took many photos to look back on. Our balonys overlooked a beautiful rainforest which was just amazing! Again we were very sad to leave this little piece of paradise to say goodbye to Mary,Wayan and Made our "Bali family". We will certainly be back. Thank you all.
“An absolute delight!”
We were absolutely delighted the moment we arrived at this cottage! We knew it was worth the bumpy 4-hour flight from Manila. Mary Lee, the owner, renovated this traditional Balinese house in a way that keeps its South East asian personality, but adding amenities like wi-fi, hot water, a working kitchen (we cooked lots of meals), air-conditioning,flat screen TV with DVD player (and lots of DVD titles!), and even a saltwater wading pool nearby. This cottage is really a house with 2 levels with a balcony on each level. The best bedroom is the downstairs one with its double-bed and a Bali-style bathroom. The bedroom upstairs is a bit more basic, but still comfortable. It also has its own bathroom. You can't ask for a better "landlord" in Mary, who was very patient with us when we were finalizing the booking. She also introduced us to her neighbor, Made, who has a car (Toyota Innova). A very affable, honest man whom we hired to pick us up from the airport and bring us around. My wife and I stayed here with our youngest daughter (who took time off from work) for 7 days. We're already planning our return next year! Terima kasih Mary and Made!
Response from the owner Dear Jolan and Antonette, Thank you for your glowing review. It was a delight having you here. The perfect guests. You are my first visitors from the Philippines and I hope you will come back to visit again with some of your friends and family. Hope your foot is well mended by now, Jolan. Think a week resting in the villa did it a world of good. Take care. Warm Regards, Mary
“A beauty hideaway, feels like home”
I visited Ubud many times and so far none can beat the Garden villa! Stayed there for 9days and feeling at home and fully relax. I feel like i wanted to stay in the villa everday as its so lovely! The rooms and their balconies are perfect place to lay back and seeing the beauty of rice field and very private. The villa being cleaned everyday except on sunday, and everything you need are there. It's only 10min walk to central and by 5min walk you may find cafe seniman, nice cafe for breakfast, and iman spa is so close to get good body massage. Mary the owner is so helpful dan has good sense of humour (luckily we found times to have dinner together, it was fun!) i would definetly go back to the villa when visiting Ubud in near future!
Response from the owner Dear Ira, It was a delight having you and your husband. I was very happy to have you back again after your stay in Villa Manis and hope you will return on your next visit to Ubud. Thank you for a fabulous and fun dinner out on the town. We will definitely have to go salsa dancing next time you are here. Cheers, Mary
“Very peaceful and comfortable with delightful Balinese staff.”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning. The deck looking over the rice paddies was particularly peaceful and we just loved the huge outdoor bathroom. It's a 10-15 minute walk into the main street of Ubud through a residential area so you feel part of a local neighbourhood rather than in a tourist area.
