Everything &more stayed 4days. Gede looked after us like family. Thanks to Paul &Tammar For return trip each day into Ubud makes staying out side in tranquility easy.
“truly a retreat”
We arrived at night and were simply stunned in the morning when we awoke to the scenery around us. So much beautiful lush greenery and tastefully decorated open living spaces dotted by art sculptures to explore. I would recommend staying here to anyone happy to get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Ubud and truly relax in a part of paradise. Tamarra and Paul were perfect hosts respecting their guests privacy but also happy to engage in interesting evening conversations. Their staff too were incredibly warm and hospitable. There are some wonderful walks to take surrounding the area and the locals are all extremely friendly.
“Relaxing, peaceful, and very artistic guest house”
I have been to Bali more than 5 times, but I've never stayed in a such artistic and tranquil place like this before. In every inch of this house, I could find art. Painting, architecture, statue, furniture, and even a small thing like spoon--has its own art and uniqueness. The peaceful Ubud atmosphere also made Rumah Tamu the best place to rejuvenate after a long hard trip we did before. Staying there was a very nice experience. Now, I had photos and videos to use as recommendation for my family and friends to come to Rumah Tamu in the future. I spent 2 days just relaxing inside the house, and I do hope I could stay longer there.
Rumah Tamaru is easily the nicest place that my wife and I have ever stayed at in all of Bali! The flow and layout of the entire area was incredibly beautiful. I could never have thought up a place like that if I tried. The rooms were amazing, the grounds were great for relaxing, and the views were picturesque and serene. Tamarra and her husband were warm and welcoming, and very interesting besides! We would highly recommend Rumah Tamu to anyone, and will definitely plan on staying there when we return to Bali!
My husband and I had the opportunity to stay at Rumah Tamu for just one night, but it was hands down the best place we have ever stayed in Indonesia. My husband and I have had numerous trips to Indonesia and Bali, and we couldn't stop raving about how gorgeous and relaxing this villa was! It felt like we were on our honeymoon again! As you come through the front gate and enter the gardens, it feels as though you have walked right into a traditional Balinese painting. There are so many wonderful things that catch your eye, whether it is the garden that surrounds the dining area and flows into the back drop of rice paddies, or the inviting swimming pool adjacent to our traditional Balinese style room. Beyond this, Tamarra and Paul have outstanding taste in decorations and mixing unique art pieces with modern conveniences. Our room, had a vaulted "thatched hut" roof, with a gorgeous canopy bed and bamboo furniture. Tons of natural light displayed the beautiful batik wall hangings and art. And from the sliding glass doors of the bedroom you could just slip right into your own private pool. Just as luxurious was the bathroom, with a wonderful "rain fall" inspired shower and gorgeous stone sink and bathtub. In the common space just outside the bedrooms is a wonderful outdoor lounge area with a kitchen, desk, and living room set overlooking the gardens. Just being here makes one feel more creative! Tamarra and Paul were so kind and such wonderful hosts! They made us feel like family! We can't wait to come back to Bali again and spend some more time here!
If you are looking for a quiet get-a-way on the outskirts of Ubud that has the feel of luxury, privacy and aesthetic charm at an affordable price, Rumah Tamu can't be beat. Designed and owned by an artist, the guest house and grounds have the feel of a living museum. As a group of 6, we were all well taken care of by the amazing staff who helped with everything from laundry to transport to setting up a masseuse to come to our room. Food can be prepared for you or there is also a small but well equipped kitchen if you would prefer to be the chef. Each room varies in it's ammenities: options include private pools, flat screen TV, massage room, AC, tub, and living rooms. The open air dining is a nice plus allowing social interaction amongst the gardens and sculptures. We landed here after a chaotic and challenging work trip to debrief and decompress; it was exactly what we needed (and more) and if I am ever lucky enough to be in Bali again, this is where I will be staying.
“Fabulous retreat, great value for money”
We stayed for six months and loved it. The art is perfect, the hosts are incredibly kind and interesting, and the staff are fabulous. We can't recommend it enough. Perfect for tourists or longer retreats.
“A special retreat”
I've stayed at Rumah Tamu a few times. Not just for the peace and calm and the beautiful outlook onto rice fields and a flowing river, but for the atmosphere that is so palpable. This is a place to create things... there's space and the inspiration. The hosts, Tamarra and Paul, are charming and interesting and willing to have great conversations as well as to advise things to see and do in and around Ubud. But they were discreet and left us to do our own thing. The pool, so close to the house, is a charming spot to loll... there was quite a bit of that done. And resting...but mostly, reviving. Then, feeling energised, we explored Ubud, only 15 minutes away. We did have our own car; that'd be the best way to get there and around but it is very easy to get to Ubud, and easy to venture around from there. I'd recommend a stay at Rumah Tamu and hope to get back there soon. I'm thinking... July??
